My ex mother in law is included in that number, she died in 1998 of a brain tumor. The only OT VIIIs that I see publicly are people like John Allender, and he exemplifies my belief that the higher you get on the OT levels, as long as you remain in Scientology, you have to do such mental gymnastics that your mind becomes increasingly disconnected. He is a frightening example of what Scientology considers sanity.

I have always been interested to know how many OT 8 there are currently in Scientology. I am assuming not very many. I also was interested to know how many people that were OT 8s have left Scientology.

My auditor told me when I was in that I didn’t have to worry about nuclear war anymore because there were too many OT 8’s. I’m not sure if he knew the true number either but he apparently thought there’s were enough of them to prevent nuclear war.
He also told me that when you meet an OT 8 you can just sense that they have special powers and abilities. Later on I met a couple of them and I didn’t pick up on that. Not to be judgmental but one of them was extremely overweight.

There were 2400 OT VIII tallied in 2012 (1989-2012) by http://www.truthaboutscientology*, including the deceased and out and excluding double completions.
If we discount the 1000 OT VIII made in the first two years of release, the average yearly is 78/year.
If they continued at a rate of 78/year for the following 12 years, there should be around 3500 OT VIII completions by now.
In 2021, you posted on your blog a poster promoting the target of 5000 OT VIII.
