One thing, "technically" per the full Hubbard rules, long range in the movement, there have been swings "back" to more normalized relationships.

The 1968 Ron's Journal talk, was one completely swing in the other direction. Also even in the "About Rhodesia" lecture Hubbard gave when returning from Rhodesia in 1967 is a huge similar "swing" in the opposite direction, meaning NOT seeing a person as a suppressive enemy of Scientology just for talking to a suppressive.

But Hubbard quickly swung back to disconnection by 1973 with the 10 August 1973 writing, even though the window for tolerance to suppressives was opened up in 1968 for the tiniest amount of time.

----------------------------

Next is the Hubbard concept of "piloting" things for several years, see how it goes, and then implement the revised piloting of this or that bit of quackery or policy.

The harsh fad of disconnection these last many decades since 1982 have proven not even wise per even the mostly overwhelming apologist J. Gordon Melton who stated in a newspaper interview once that the harsh disconnection policy isn't helping Scientology. Harsh extremist shunning is not helpful for a "religion" to have in their tool kit for societal interaction.

Clearwater, Florida is the cutting edge zone for how bad disconnection of Scientology is having an effect.

But, the point, when future leaders of the shrinking Scientology come along, maybe they will notice that the "piloting" of dropping disconnection has been done by non official Scientologists, and it is conceivable that if official Scientology lasts long enough, they too will re-implement the 1968 Ron's Journal and "About Rhodesia" more tolerant policy instead of disconnection as has been done the last many decades since 1982.

New Apostolic 'Church' = NAZI outfit, since 1860's - and North American Power Energy Broker

Division of families via their lies - of people they've indoctrinated over lifetimes

Thank you for the work you do to expose Scientology for the lie it is. I've watched your show - it inspired me to read Leah's book and now I'm delving into Russell Miller's biography of LRH. It is heartbreaking to see all the damage done. I don't have any connection to scientology or know any scientologists, but I have been praying for the victims and for your work. I hope to find a way to help people who have been hurt by this huge lie. May God bless you. I look forward to reading your book in September.

That's why they are known as Cult / fundamentalist / pessimist/ evil ....... they are scared of opposite point of view.

In all main stream religion ( Judaism , Hinduism, Buddhism,
Christianity, Islam ,Sikhism) they listen and reply to opponents views and criticism.
They are trained to be amongst people and not to wage war nor hide in seclusion in fear of opposition.

Cults are man made traps from a mentally ill person , who being afraid of getting exposed wage war against mental health professionals like Psychiatrist and psychologist; University scholars and Judicial system.

Look at the life of any Cult founder, he is always hiding from FBI and Interpol.

Hi, Mike -- thanks for reposting this important blog. While I've never had the misfortune of loosing a family member to scientology because of disconnection, I lost a good friend -- an OT VIII -- to that church sometime after I left.

That friend is Nancy Frisch, who I first met when Nancy, Harry (her husband) and I worked at Sterling Management Systems, one of, if not the biggest, scientology Front Groups.

If I remember correctly, Nancy worked either in Div 2 or Div 6. Since I worked at Sterling for about 5 or 6 years, I became good friends with Nancy.

I worked in finance, primarily Div 3, but sometimes in Div 7. At one point, I became the Div 3 rep to the company's Advisory Council, and Nancy wore a hat in the company's Executive Council, to which Ad Council reported.

Through our friendship, Nancy and I realized that we were born 7 days and 50 miles apart. We're both from Long Island, and knowing this added to our friendship. Hardly a year could pass without one of us reminding the other of an approaching birthday. Nancy had a tremendous heart and an enormous sense of humor.

I left Sterling in 1995 or thereabouts. A few years later, I joined another scientology Front Group, Management Success. At first, I helped out in Div 5 by doing client interviews by phone at three key points in the company's six month program.

When Laura Eberhard needed to go on Maternity leave, I moved, temporarily, to Div 2, where Nancy Frisch worked as the Director of Promotion and Marketing.

Nancy had wanted to become a mother for quite a while, but without success. At one point, luck shined down on Nancy and Harry, and she gave birth to a baby girl. Her daughter had grown into childhood by the time Nancy and I worked at MS. Soon, however, Nancy and her family relocated to Clearwater, where they could be closer to Flag.

Since then, Nancy and I kept in touch, sharing emails at least a couple of times a year. Shortly after I left scientology for good, I received an email from Nancy. She had not heard of my departure from scientology, of course, so I told her. It wouldn't have been right for me to have continued my friendship with Nancy without telling her that I had severed my association with her church. I knew that she would have to disconnect from me if she valued her association with her church.

I sent that last email to her, a short and sweet "you should know" message, in 2015 or so. I haven't heard a word from her since.
