In reply to <a href="https://www.mikerindersblog.org/__trashed/#comment-221241">Terra Cognita</a>.

From a stint editing a little newsletter, I found that when the authors composed into a plaintext file and attached it to an email, things went smoother. First thing "Paste" usually does is "match style", which strips out bold, italics, underline, and such, so if they sent styled text in Word or some other program I had, when I copied and pasted it in on my own machine, I lost the styling. Other editors I sent articles to had a similar problem. I'm still a bit surprised that I can sometimes paste styled text into a text box on a form like this and have bold and italics show up.[Well, that test didn't work.] bold, italics, [nor that.]

I like your friend: ScientologyLand will probably require a bit of explanation early, perhaps on the back cover. Perhaps I'm influenced by just watching "Tomorrowland. T,P,F,&E are all standard English words, though a bit of explaining how the phrase fits into scieno-speak might be warranted. You publisher should have some ideas on what communicates and sells. For some reason, I just flashed on "Escaping from Total freedom" as a tagline.

Hope you get good sales and minimal hassle from the OSA troglodytes

Bill - "I noticed . . . that most people were interested in my story so long as I still had one foot in the grave which is probably normal." That's an interesting observation and I'm guessing it mostly refers to sea org people you knew but possibly other people too. Morbid curiosity - a part of human nature, maybe. "How come that dude ain't dead!" haha

In reply to <a href="https://www.mikerindersblog.org/__trashed/#comment-221364">Richard</a>.

After twelve weeks of numerous people offering (constructive) criticism about how the novel should be written Terra has a lot of dev-t to sort out.

That was a joke. Terra has often mentioned he appreciates the suggestions. In the end it's the author's decision on how to portray the characters and events and there will be varying opinions about the final product. Below Terra acknowledges Mike for allowing him to use this blog as a platform and having so many people offer input on a rough draft of a novel is unique. I guess I'll have to buy the novel to see how many of my own and other peoples suggestions were used and how many were shit-canned.

When I "was a Scientologist" for seven or eight years in the 1970s I considered I was studying how to deal with peoples unwanted attitudes, emotions, sensations and pains as well as communication difficulties, regrets about the past and many other things. I didn't then and still don't feel I wasted my time and would do it all over again. It was at minimum a basis for comparison but that was a different time and place and hindsight is twenty twenty so I wouldn't recommend Scientology to anyone in whatever form it continues to exist.
