That same question of yours was also mine, once:

I don’t recall having received anything resembling a cogent answer or even a reference!
So we are left with on one hand a thetan being an immortal being, meaning no beginning, no end, has always existed, will always exist, that’s what immortal means, e.g. NOT mortal…OK. On the other hand, this very same “immortal” being, which, mind you, has ALWAYS existed and ALWAYS WILL, can, nevertheless be threatened with loss of eternity…somehow…sure, I understand that!

When I was in I knew a public Scientologist whose credit card was charged 40K for something without permission or even the awareness that it was needed or wanted on the part of the holder, by someone in the Sea Org.. One month and many phone calls later and this money still had not been restored although it was acknowledged on the part of the Sea Org that it should not have been debited. Even after having been made aware that what had occurred was serious credit card fraud, this public Scientologist did not report it as such but simply accepted what had occured, gave up on the issue altogether, and made the payments on the unauthorized donation. In brief, the Scientology Sea Org was permitted to get away with serious credit card fraud which under normal circumstances would have had the FBI involved because of the amount and because it occurred across state lines.
