It’s not the mocking that “gets” them, it’s the taboo words. They are NOT allowed internally to write in their records, the words “Xenu” and “body-thetans”.
This isn’t just mocking them, this is throwing a simple wrench into their procedures of filming and photo taking, and sending out “lower level” Scientologists of any type, to confront outsiders.
It’s the taboo words backfiring effect I believe will most greatly erode one of Scientology’s built in totalitarian “information control”.
They cannot control being exposed to the taboo words that Hubbard says will cause them harm.
When you expose them to the taboo words and define the taboo words to them, they do NOT get sick, contradicting Hubbard’s dire warnings about the taboo words and the defining explanations of their own beliefs, that the majority of the Sea Org staffs don’t even know their beliefs.
It might come across as mockery, but learning who Xenu was, and what Xenu did, and what “body-thetans” are, and that OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are the exorcism levels of the movement, are huge in transparency about the beliefs that the members themselves are ignorant of what they are reaching for, namely to come do the exorcism levels of Scientology.
Xenu and “body-thetans” are taboo words which when defined, make the whole Scientology movement “make sense” in the Hubbard theoretical senses of how Hubbard defines the soul, and what “thetans” are, versus what “body-thetans” are, and the distinctions of the OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 exorcism levels of Scientology, versus all the other pseudo-therapy levels of Scientology.

It’s a public service to break down their information control they try to enforce on their members. It’s way more than mere mockery.

As a Scientologist, I wish someone had come up to me and simply told me OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 were the exorcism levels of Scientology where “body-thetans” which are bodiless “thetans” which infest all humans, due to Xenu’s earth dumping these mentally implanted/damaged “thetans” onto earth to roam earth and infest all humans ever since, and that OT 3, 4, 5 6 and 7 are the levels where the “body-thetans” all get exorcised off Scientologists. I’d have really been glad to have that defined, frankly. You work for decades not knowing who Xenu was, nor what “body-thetans” are, nor that OT 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are the exorcism levels!

But everyone who is in believes in fair game, disconnection, etc. because they think it will never happen to them.

It is true you could mock any religion. But this is a cult. There is nothing religious about it. That is the message that needs to be sent.

It’s been far too many decades since I visited Clear Water. All that stopped once friends then living in Clear Water have SOLD & LEFT Clear Water once “things started to change”. Store fronts bought out by “someone”….making the original owners renters feel “out of place”.

Locals stopped going “down town”…”up Town”…or anywhere in Clear Water as the sidewalks seemed to be filled by “those people”……all those military style school uniforms paraded up & down streets….cameras around…..not for OUR security but for the security of “someone else”……what USE to be is long gone, & how sad is that?

Mocking and confronting people about their “silly beliefs” could be used against any religion or religious cult. I recall some videos of people shouting at scientologists about Xenu and so on which to me seemed crude. Fair game, disconnection and bankruptcy as well as cult indoctrination is more rational criticism IMO.
