Oh the little touches are so sweet on these Regraded Being comic strips!
Four men to a berth, but only one bunk bed.
I am amazed the SeaOrg doesn’t resort to one cot for every four people. They can just hot-bed it in 4 shifts of six hours of sleep each.
Oh, wait, six hours of sleep is being far too generous for scientology.
One cot and six people taking shifts of four hours of sleep a day is more like it.
Hey Miscavige, I just gave you some great ideas, ‘ya sociopath!

They actually pass out under their desks. Bunks are just for show.

Mike I have question. Some time ago I heard a rumor that when Siri Cruise was born that some of the powers that be thought she was the reincarnation of LRH. After see this weeks program and hearing the 21 year return. That would have been his time. Was there any truth to that rumor?
November 18, 2017 at 2:53 am
If Cruise was secretly timing the birth of his child for some hope of a reincarnation of LRH, well that is some sick shit right there. That dude has a real mental problem if that is the case.
F***, that is a disturbing thought.

RB back, dishing us another goodie. Love it!
Now, Mike, I have a bone to pick with you:
Per RB here; 5000 attacks on Scientology to date have been perpetrated on Scientology by you and Leah?
That’s IT? That’s all?
I expected the figure to be much higher. 10 thousand, at least.
From such a team up of stellar SPs – an immoral slut like Leah and a vicious wife beater like you – not the correct order of magnitude!
5000 Scientology attacks perpetrated over a period of 6 months averages only 28 attacks per day, Mike!
Hmmm…let me think…is it possible that you’ve been being – reasonable?

The final Aftermath Episode reminded me of this quote: “The Truth, when you finally chase it down, is almost always far worse than your darkest visions and fears.” – Hunter S. Thompson: Kingdom of Fear; pg. 220.

Good one,Ganesh. A fave of mine is a modern take on biblical wisdom: “The truth will set you free. But first it will piss you off” – Gloria Steinem, Kate Millett. or one of those ladies.

@MikeRinder Thank you for the show. It is so cathartic for me. It’s nice to see how you’re doing after so long of not seeing you (and Guillaume and Heber and…) at events.
I was in for about a decade – on and off staff. I contracted a chronic disease and wasn’t able to complete my last contract, despite MANY CSWs for how I could complete it from home (all disapproved, of course). I was believed to be wildly PTS and not working to become cause. I was the only Ethics Specialist in the place, but clearly I didn’t understand how to handle PTSness. (Yeah, right.) My difficulty was figuring out how to become cause over Scn staff and Scn itself, as those were the things to which I was PTS. So I left everything and everyone I had known in my adult life. It sucked a lot and for a long time. It took me years to get help. Your show has helped more than you might know.
It’s so wonderful to see how many people are out and helping each other heal. I would never have guessed that there is such a community of ex-Scns.
A million thanks and hugs to you and Leah.

Very good RB.
It never ceases to amaze me to remember the type of late night conversations we engaged in while being in boarding college about the world outside of the school. Apart from being expert at doing what we were told, when we were told, we really didn’t have clue about it, no matter how certain we were of our convictions.
Really BIG life adjustments await those who serve Scientology 24/7 when the insulation collapses. It must be horrible inside the bubble to feel so right and feel so protected by your “service to religion,” only to discover to be oh, so terribly wrong! Sigh…
What’s that Scientology tech about why you feel tired? Oh that’s right, failed purpose! Throw hunger in on top of that and… well… enough said.

How close is the beliefs of Jehovah Witness group to the beliefs of Scientology? When listening to the JW’s spill they sound close to what I’ve heard when watching Leah and yourself and from the former Scientologist on the show.
The show is great, my wife and I watch every week and tell our friends about how interesting and informative.

JH, as far as the basic theology they are not similar but they are the same in that they require isolation of their followers. Don’t read worldly magazines or watch limited television, dishfellowship people who do not obey the rules and shun them out of your life. Everything is about the “society” and the new revaluation that comes from them.

My wife is a former therapist who worked with a couple of clients who had been damaged by the JWs. The “disfellowship” process was very devasting to one of them. However, what the JW’s DON’T have is: a prison camp surrounded by razor wire; forced abortions, and a fair game policy.

The fundamental beliefs are dissimilar — though the world coming to end without what they have to offer is a fundamentalist concept they share.
But the control mechanisms are remarkably similar. Disconnection/shunning, disbelieving any negative information, tight control of members, internal harsh “ethics” systems etc

I love this one – like all preceding ones, it’s the best yet! I bet Mike and Leah are quaking in their boots, or slippers, or whatever footwear they’re wearing. These nascent OTs mean business! Thank you, RB.
Thanks to Mike, Leah, and Tony for another absorbing and informative series. And a special thanks to the courageous people who came forward to testify – I don’t know if I could have done what they did. I am utterly convinced that their actions will save lives in the months and years to come. All concerned with making this program deserve our profound and sustained gratitude for that.
I don’t know if there will be any more chapters for this particular book; I suspect that there will be, and that they will be authored by many more people. What I do know is that all of us who have watched this program – and wept along as these wonderful and wounded men and women laid bare their souls to a national and international audience – have a duty to ensure that their suffering was not in vain. I’m not talking vigilantism here; we don’t have to sink to their level. But we can write. We can phone. We can reach out to others in and out of this insidious and deceitful cult and offer whatever help we can give. Above all, we can dedicate ourselves to doing all we can to prevent these bastards from getting their hands on any new members, young or old.
I feel that this magnificent effort by A&E and the Terrific Trinity has all but secured the coffin lid.
Are there any nails left, Mike?
Warmest regards from Melbourne, Australia.

Mike, that would definitely be a nightmare! I’ve been out for so long, I don’t even have dreams about any of it anymore.
And RB, your grasp of the twisted thinking of staff is incredibly funny. Even if they don’t say it, many of them surely must think in those terms in order to remain sane…if that condition is even possible in the current nightmare which scio has become.
November 17, 2017 at 3:33 pm
Yes, good point Peter, what possible other ‘computation’ could a staff member have?
Upon reflection of once being on staff myself, is that the “Stockholm Syndrome” is alive and well within the ranks of the Scientology Organisation, staff literally but with the public, it’s in their minds as they scurry about chasing that carrot. It just wears a different camouflage that’s all.

When Flag started major re-construction in the 1970’s, as an OT, I queried the rising prices of services. Out came Hubbard’s policy on “they know you by your MEST”. If that was true, we should all look at the beautiful buildings and feel good about Scientology. That was never the case. Now, Dave, good luck paying the tax bills on all of that property. Even though you do not deserve it, I am going to do you a favor by training some younger academics to properly monitor and classify Scientology in the history of religions.
Knowing about the potential damages from Scientology, our children were born after we left the religion. In a sense, Hubbard offered an alternative after the war in Viet Nam and its aftermath. Hubbard’s mental damage stemmed mainly from his constant misclassifications of my own experience based on his techniques.
We knew hundreds who sought realistic change by the practice of Scientology. Over the years, Hubbard added insane policies and existing ones were enforced. When “Keeping Scientology Working” was first introduced, I considered it a suggestion.
Thanks to Leah, Mike and all of the others including blog members who have brought Scientology into realistic discussion.
November 17, 2017 at 10:13 am
“When ‘Keeping Scientology Working’ was first introduced, I considered it a suggestion.”
Fabulous line. If only there had been more thinking Scientologists that could have done that.
You made my day, George.

Let’s call a spade a shovel! It’s “Keep scientology belching!!!”
(I felt the extra exclamations were warranted; they’re in keeping with the cult’s overblown sense of self-importance.)
November 17, 2017 at 6:18 pm
OMG! Do I stand corrected or what! Belching! Now why didn’t I think of that.
I think the foul gas exiting the cult is from a different orifice OSD!
Which orifice today good buddy? Steam out the ears and the rest out back?

November 17, 2017 at 4:03 pm
KSW a suggestion??? That’s an interesting and novel take on what quickly became the first item on every checksheet.
However, KSW sure sums up the dictatorship Scientology blossomed into though – all hail the source, all hail the source! Or we’ll make sauce out of those that don’t!
“Hubbard’s mental damage stemmed mainly from his constant misclassifications of my own experience based on his techniques.” Now that should be in flashing neon lights! Well said George. Hubbard deplored anyone who didn’t respond “standardly,” which is another way of saying, “do as I say you’ll do, not as I do.”

After 35 or so years out of the Sea Org and 40 plus years after being on the Apollo, I had a nightmare 2 nights ago of being on the Apollo and it had capsized. I was struggling to swim out to reach freedom and air….Like many nightmares, I woke up in a bit of a panic before reaching the surface.

So as we age, our bladder weakens so therefore we should be dreaming more. As long as they are not about the Apollo, I’m good with that.

I thought this interesting. A spy ship for the CIA!!!!???? Get outa here! But sunk by a train! Can’t beat that for a fitting end of such a ship! I assume it’s Hubbard’s Apollo they are talking about – is it not?
533 F. Supp. 392 (1982)
ZANZIBAR SHIPPING, S. A.
RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE ENGINE NUMBER 2199, Railroad Car Number 17860, Railroad Car Number 33641, Sixteen Unknown Railroad Cars and Missouri Pacific Railroad Company.
Civ. A. No. B-80-241.
United States District Court, S. D. Texas, Brownsville Division.
February 25, 1982.
*393 Julian & Seele, Robert M. Julian, Houston, Tex., for plaintiff.
Hardy, Rodriguez & Colvin, Eduardo R. Rodriguez, Brownsville, Tex., for defendant.
DeANDA, District Judge.
The ship now called “ARCTIC STAR” has seen a colorful and varied career. Christened the “ROYAL SCOTSMAN” in 1936, she plied the rough seas between Belfast and Glasgow and survived. She risked German U-Boats when used as a troop ship in World War II and survived. She even had a name change (to “APOLLO”) and saw use as a spy ship for the CIA and survived. After having successfully avoided these often countered and expected nautical dangers, it is perhaps quite ironic that she did not survive the night of September 16, 1980, when while lying at berth in the Port of Brownsville, Texas, she was rammed and constructively sunk by a railroad train.

I didn’t believe it when I first came across it but here’s the legal mumbo jumbo reference on it. https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/FSupp/533/392/1506796/
Apparently it’s still tied up to the dock while sitting on the bottom, too expensive to fix it or move it. Perhaps that’s where LRH is now as a barnacle or something… he said he’d return didn’t he?
November 17, 2017 at 10:07 pm
When you read this excerpt I reckon it is still owned by Scientology. It has that certain legally confusing odour about it:
*394 In addition to its unusual history, the ownership of the “ARCTIC STAR” is also far from ordinary. Although since being rechristened the “ARCTIC STAR” the ship has never left the Port of Brownsville, Texas, it is owned by Zanzibar Shipping, S. A., a Panamanian corporation with its headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The exact makeup of this corporation, created especially for ownership of the “ARCTIC STAR,” is shrouded in mystery; its stock is “bearer stock” and not even the corporate secretary, Ms. Ann Priddy, has any idea who or where its stockholders are. Despite its being headquartered in Wisconsin and having its only known asset permanently docked in Texas, Zanzibar Shipping maintains that it does no business in the United States.
If any of this is true, Scientology should be charged with intentional negligence resulting in water & marine environmental pollution.
November 18, 2017 at 8:26 am
Yawn, this makes for interesting reading. Looks like the church sold the ship in 1977? Not good if it’s still sitting at the dock, polluting the ocean (sigh).
November 18, 2017 at 12:54 am
I read that a few years ago. After this year of the ship stories I read it in a different light. Good post 🙂

It was covered in one of the early episodes in Season 1. Also in John Sweeney’s BBC Panorama program. Somewhat in Going Clear doc. Also in Tampa Bay Times many articles. Larry Wright’s Going Clear book. John Sweeney’s book Church of Fear. Steve Cannane’s book Fair Game.

Oh, the nightmares! I quit smoking cigarettes almost 30 years ago. It was really, really hard habit to break, and I had nightmares a lot in the beginning that I was smoking again. Sometimes, I would dream that I was smoking again, and this time it’s not a dream! Anyway the point is, those nightmares are now few and far between — maybe once a year. One day, you’ll be at peace even in your sleep.
November 17, 2017 at 11:16 am
When I was on staff at the Honolulu mission, EVERYONE smoked…except for me. But, Hubbard did say, “Smoking doesn’t cause cancer. Not smoking enough causes cancer.”
November 17, 2017 at 4:32 pm
Does the colour of what is smoked have anything to do with defining smoking? Just asking man…

November 17, 2017 at 10:45 am
Don’t recall. It was something or nothing. A wrong answer. A bad media article. DM got out on the wrong side of the bed.
The Hole itself does not exist — though in some way the entire Gold Base is now “The Hole” — isolated from the world AND the scientology world. Doing make-busy work. Forbidden to issue orders to anyone. Treated like they are SPs doing A-E…
I hope A&E brings you guys back for another season there is still so much to talk about. You need to do the best of Aftermath and even though they are all good the best was the Round Table discussion and how $ci makes its money. Amazing that Leah would be considered a person that had suppressive reasonableness just because she has compassion! You need to interview people that their families were having a hard time just meeting daily needs because of $ci. So very glad you guys are out.
November 19, 2017 at 1:14 pm
Yeah, perhaps a monthly one-hour special to keep the atrocities committed by this cult front and center in the public’s (and authorities’) minds. Attention should be drawn to the authorities’ inaction in the face of overwhelming evidence that scientology is most definitely NOT a church, and that it does inestimable harm to people caught up in it.

One reason that I had lingering dreams about ‘being in the orgs and doing tasks’ was that I still had spiritual connections (Chakra cords) with people inside. I figured that they were sending me messages to reconnect. Some wanted just to connect with me spiritually, and some wanted me back for their stat. When I ‘dream’ acknowledged each occurrence the dreams ceased.
For what it’s worth.
