I like this gal, but as I continued to listen I realized that she isn’t on the same page as I am. I really appreciate how she wants to remain neutral and “just give the facts” and let others form opinions. But later on she goes down some roads that are nutty to me.

It was hard for me to listen to the interviewer as he has views that I consider totally whack-a-doodle and Kool-Aide. But as I’m still working hard to divest my mind from Scn, I’m really backed off of anything metaphysical.

Just for the record, the connector that looks like a phone jack is for the Remote TA, Jon Horwich’s contribution to meter design. (Jon was once married to Diana Hubbard and is the father of Roanne. In the 80s he was Ron’s Audio Visual).

There is also a tiny 9 pin connector on the MK VII (later updated and called “Quantum”). Though it is a miniature version of the classic 9 pin D style connector popularly used in computers for serial connections, it is an analog connection. It allows a reads recorder to be attached. You can extract the needle motions or take over the meter and make the needle show needle reactions using this connector.

In the MK VIII they use a real serial connection for this purpose.

These connections allow meters to be monitored and recorded. An example is the famous “Look-Listen” system at the Flag Land Base. They networked cameras, microphones and the meters. This makes it possible to listen in on any session at any time, and see the meter reactions as well. Probably they also have this in the Ideal Orgs.

In the early days of this system recordings were done on VCR tapes, but now they can record on hard drives. In theory the recordings would be destroyed after a time but nothing says that especially juicy ones don’t get passed around or archived.

I wonder what the Justice Department would say about therapists that record and share sensitive information revealed by clients. Maybe a violation of HIPAA laws – but Scientology is a religion so it is all OK somehow.
