An article in Wikipedia on World Population estimates 100 billion human beings have walked the earth. Probably billions of people over time have witnessed or experienced things which could be classified as extrasensory, paranormal, supernatural, transcendental, satori and so on. Maybe it’s the result of chemicals being released in the human brain. Unlikely to be resolved soon. 🙂

Hi Cindy – I Left scientology in 1982 before doing the OT levels and I’m pretty sure I knew of the 75 million number. Ron’s Wall of Fire was a Very Big Deal in scientology and word gets around.

You mention we, many, everyone, but how many was the actual number? When did you do the dating drill? Could the students have seen that number on outside media or even in scientology magazines?

I’m not being critical but just mentioning there are several variables which can be involved.

Richard, it’s a well known phenomenon that when individuals are in a light trance or suggestible state such as auditing sets up, they can think very imaginatively and tap into the mind’s below-conscious functioning. For instance, when given a command to come up with something “earlier” – which presumes there is something earlier, all though they may not be – the compliant subject may make up a creative answer, such as a fabricated early experience or past life account. This is also the same sort of subtle leading, which produces what are known as false memories, that resulted for instance in the infamous, fabulous accounts and accusations of satanic ritual abuse of preschool children.

When some interesting research was done in the 1970s and 1980s that debunked phenomenon such as past lives – I’ve often linked to some of it – one of the fascinating experiments they ran was to first go through the standard suggestive practice of putting people in a state like a light trance, and asking them to “go back” until they came up with something like a past life account. Subjects were then fully hypnotized and asked where the idea for that account came from, at which point they could often recall some below-conscious source such as a movie they saw or a story they heard in their youth.

I just had the thought that she should watch another film from 2007…. The BBC Panorama Scientology& Me! I’m rewatching (3rd time, at least) the Aftermath ep in Season 1 that introduced John Sweeney (who has become one of my heroes along with Steven Hassan and all the others actively working to expose mind control practices).

When I did my auditing as a Class IV, I to this day I cannot believe how popular I was among PC’s. Of course it was all for free, But people really tried to get repeat sessions. The reg’s would beg me to do the sessions because they could close for real money after an experience with me. The truth of the matter was that I never really accepted Hubbard’s training. It all seemed so stupid. The floating needle was fine but the questions were terrible. I felt that somehow the entire auditing process was flawed because you never really got in communication with the PC. I presented myself as an upstat business person which I was at the time. Very well dressed and affluent. I sort of made my way by asking only the questions that seemed relevant. I never tried to get a floating needle because it was insane to try it. But I did get a lot of F/N’s becaue I was really concerned and compassionate with the PC’s. I just took the attitude that they would respond to my self assurance. It worked. I was really easy with them and waited for them to talk. Amazing and I did not follow Hubbard.

Amazing. I have similar experience. When I did OT III, I decided to run it only if it read on the meter. Well, I had a massive read. But I had read the incident in Hubbard’s handwriting. I concluded that I was “conditioned” for the read. When I ran all of implants on OT VIII, the reads were fast, and large. But I never got any thetan or OT powers. So I concluded that I was just reading on his data because I was a loyal follower. When I hit my first past life incident, it blew me away. Later I concluded that all I ever hit was a scene from the movie Ben Hur in Rome.
The proof to me was never any OT powers. Not even slight. Of course, I had the obvious ideas of subjective reality in my travels to Venus and Mars. But it all turned false.
