You’re partially right. Fear IS scn’s primary control factor. Those “in” can have it used against them because they hoped that scn would deliver on the dreams they sell. For fear of losing the possibility of fulfilling those dreams, they’ll do nearly anything, even sell their soul to the Devil, Matey (DM … Weak! I know)

James, the FleeceWinds’ circling the Caribbean endlessly sounds fun, but there’s no way they could do it. As it is, they can hardly afford to camp out at a Curacao dock full-time, and HOW could the new victims of VIII get TO the tub? There aren’t a LOT of them, but they DO need some place which has a proper international airport to get the clams from where they ARE to where the boat is docked to get aboard…. UNLESS they get their RPFers to line up to hold up a helipad so new victims can be drop-shipped (Almost like being drop-kicked) as the boat floats past. AND how could the tub hold provisions for such a long cruise? Even Rice & beans takes up SOME room.
And how would they get fuel enough? I doubt the “sea orgers” could pull off an at-sea rendezvous with a tanker, so they’d have to stop in SOME port to refuel. While there, they might as well exchange prisoners, take on comestibles, stretch their legs, and the like. That’s how Davey-boy could transfer to the captive SCUBA boat without getting his tiny custom-made shoes damp.

I worked a dozen years for one company, only taking one day off — for kidney stones. If you haven’t experienced them, a co-worker, a mother of twins, said kidney stones were ‘WAY worse than childbirth. Needless to say, THAT company did’t say “Stay home if you’re sick.” ‘Also ’twas not one which got the best out of its workers.

One form of coronavirus is the “common” cold. This NEW variant, thus labeled “novel coronavirus” is a bit more virulent, but it seems it’s not going to cause the end of the world as long as we take the common precautions taken to minimize the annual “colds and flus” season. There’s no vaccine, … yet, but that won’t matter to the clams —who just clam up and burrow into the sand at times like this.

I just REALIZED! Probably the LAST population to survive an apocalypse are scns; their reaction to adverse news (entheta) is to plug their ears up and shut their eyes hard. In that position, they MIGHT be spared by predators which disdain “dead” prey, but nothing else.
