What I’m saying, ALL I’m saying, it that forcibly detaining ANYONE who SAYS, “I do not want to be here. I wish to leave. Get out of my way. You cannot LEGALLY prevent me from leaving. I am leaving now; stand aside and let me go!”…anyone who says that and is STILL kept, forcibly, physically, from leaving, IS BEING KIDNAPPED. Now, I’m NOT saying the cult doesn’t DO this; I’m saying that IF and/or WHEN they KEEP someone VIA PHYSICAL FORCE AGAINST THAT PERSON’S EXPRESSSED WILL from vacating an area, THAT is kidnapping, and illegal and as such highly actionable under the law. Doesn’t matter WHO it is, whether its an individual forcibly detaining someone, or WHATEVER group or religious organization FORCIBLY detaining someone from leaving an area, it is illegal and actionable under the law. That Sea Org Members DON’T KNOW WHAT CONSTITUTES KIDNAPPING under our law doesn’t make it ANY LESS illegal. And the cult KNOWS this, but counts on its members NOT knowing this, I would think. Now, does the cult do it ANYWAY? Probably, if they know they can get away with it!

Good for you, James! So glad you got out quickly once you saw the truth. That same thing happened to me more than once where they used confidential pc data from the pc file to reg me. I realized it at the time, but then didn’t leave for a year after that. (Kids in the church and all). I am so glad you made it out.

Good for you! Blackmail is evil. Lying about confidentiality is wrong. Anyone who doesn’t understand THAT needs to sort themselves out first before trying to ‘help’ others.

Many toxic religious groups have redefined morality and ethics as not being about “how people should treat each other” but instead “what advances our group’s agenda.” Being asked to mistreat others should be a cause for alarm!

He’s probably being guarded. There are multiple stories of Sea Org members who were guarded by others. Also stories of people who tried to leave but were chased by security and other members. People who escaped were hunted down and found. The Sea Org has the “Blow Drill” after all. If you could just walk away why need this drill. Look what Marc Headley had to do to escape…Valerie Haney…even old ‘Brown Jacket’ Rathbun, Miscaviges right hand man, had to escape. None of them could just walk out. There are stories like Debbie Cooks…she and her husband blew the SO and were hunted down and ‘convinced’ to come back and ‘route out’ properly. They were promised that they would not have to stay in SO berthing at the Hacienda, that they could stay with Debbies mother. They were picked up at the airport and driven around like they were going to keep their promise and at the last minute turned into the gates at the Hacienda. So that is some of the reasons why I don’t believe Sea Org people are trapped ONLY by the prison of belief. That IS a factor but in the SO you are indoctrinated from the first day what will happen if you try to leave and most see it happen to others quite often.

Rosemary I saw such things happening as well in committee meetings and staff musters.
Most of the times totally unnecessary comments that would just make the person feel bad as well betrayed.
The funny thing is that if the person felt having an “arc break” (obvious consequence after gossiping publicly about him) he could be invited to look for his own overts and w/hs.
