I suspect it’s like the old escape characters in the early days of programming. My first computer course was 55 years ago. Not important, so don’t get too deep down a rabbit hole.

By the way, if you go to the “free advice site” called techguy.org, I will post a request for some help with this. Try going there in 24 hours and see if you can spot the post in which I will ask for help. I will try to come back here and post a follow up reply to let you know what happened.

That is very kind of you to say. I hope Mike will not object to me posting an email address here. In fact, I should ask permission before I do that.

I want to do that because I would really like to know how to make bold text appear. I tried the suggestion you made. The following is the text I entered:

:”LT” B”GT” , “GT+slash+B”LT”

As you can see (I hope) it did not display anything in bold. But I think it would be best if we took this discussion to private email and I will wait until I hear from Mike whether it would be OK for me to post a “throwaway” email address here in his blog.

By the way, I use the name “throwaway Email address” to mean an email account that I got from some free email site and that I don’t really care if I have to delete it because it gets compromised. In any case, the first step would be to see if the text I entered above is displayed in text.

Nope! It does not display any bold text. I have used HTML in the past. But I don’t recall how to display bold text.

Sandy, please don’t abuse the coffee OR your keyboard/screen.

Oops! html STRIPS displaying the characters I used:”LT” B”GT” to start, “GT+slash+B”LT” to finish bold.HTML gets confused when it sees extra GT/LT characters. And I haven’t a clue these days how to get those characters displayed literally.

Right now, “doing well” is being retired, waking up at the crack of noon– if I feel like it— and doing whatever the heck I feel like, while drinking copious amounts of fresh-brewed coffee. Having a lovely, brilliant wife who puts up with me for 28 years makes life easy, whatever we’re doing. Or not doing.

Sometimes I have nightmares of what life might have been like had I hooked up with the girl I chased at Flag. She’s still “in”, I’ve heard, doing her thing with “WISE/ABLE” and the Flag OT committee; poor girl.

George, there were always hints of the “entities, demons and wayward spirits”, which would be evident if you re-read them in a new light. Of course, that’s self-destructive, so only do so if you’re feeling especially strong and thinking critically.
