I AM

July 2, 2013 By Mike Rinder 15 Comments

i am documentary tom shadyacMarty recommended this movie to me which Christie and I just watched.

Get it from Netflix or Amazon or anywhere you can.

It is more than worth the effort. It is brilliant, thought provoking, uplifting and inspiring. It is not a comedy in spite of the credits of the director. It is a documentary about one man’s search for the meaning of life and it touches upon many subjects that are of interest to those who frequent this blog.

Thank you for speaking out and unmasking a dangerous and vindictive cult. I somehow missed that you were indoctrinated at age 6. This awful cult broke you (and many other children) and reassembled you into someone that they could control.
I must confess, I didn’t feel sorry for you but still admired your fight against this cult that you helped create. Then, I was gobsmacked to find out you were brainwashed at the age of SIX!!!
I can’t imagine the horror you’ve lived through.
Bless you, and congratulations for breaking free and using the knowledge you have to help others who have ‘woken’ from the brainwashing to leave. I applaud your efforts to shrink the base of this nasty hateful organization.
Hold your head up, strive on, be proud, be persistent… You have allies.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found the movie incredibly uplifting and am overjoyed to see science catching up to my (and so many others’) spiritual reality.
But, I have a problem with Nelson Mandela being in the film. Just like I won’t be propagandized by Cof$, nor will I pretend that guy is ALL about Love. I get what his justifications were, but don’t go on camera like you never advocated violence against even your own people who you thought to be traitors. It’s PR bullshit. I’d have to ask, “How else did you justify that?”
    http://www.britannica.com/blogs/2011/05/nelson-mandela-flawed-saint/
“Even when offered release by president P.W. Botha in 1985 on the condition that he renounce violence as a legitimate means of resistance, Mandela refused, saying that the government itself would first have to do so. Upon his release in 1990, he maintained a similar position, even toward rival black political groups, stating that the ANC’s patience with groups protesting the movement toward peace would “not last very long.” During the Rivonia trial, it had emerged that he advocated cutting off the noses of blacks viewed as traitors or white collaborators. His wife Winnie—whom he divorced in 1996—had during the 1980s advocated that turncoats be punished by “necklacing”—execution by placing a gasoline-filled tire around the victim’s neck and setting it alight. She was later convicted of participating in the stabbing of a young black activist who was suspected of being a police informer.
Mandela also sought assistance from leaders such as Muammar al-Qaddafi of Libya and Fidel Castro of Cuba during his earlier involvement with the ANC and, once liberated, continued those relationships despite allegations of human rights violations by their governments. Though such associations raised hackles in the west, Mandela was instrumental in convincing Qaddafi to turn over the Libya perpetrators of the Lockerbie bombing in 1999.
Though Mandela cannot be held directly responsible for some of the ANC’s more egregious crimes—notably, the torture and execution of dissendent members in training camps in Angola during the 1980s—he was certainly aware of (and responsible for promulgating) the organizations attitudes.”
Personally, I find it an insult to the likes of such incredibly peaceful men as Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.
    Just my HO…

You can search YouTube for “necklacing” and see how absolutely horrific it is. But beware…it is one of the most inhumane and absolutely cruelest things I’ve ever seen in this lifetime…

It’s also available on amazon for $3.99 rental … (in case you don’t get netflix).

Well worth the money. It’s inspiring …

From the trailer … “We are born to be our brother’s keeper.” … “We started out trying to find out what is wrong with the world and ended up discovering what is right with it.”

It’s all about the interrelationship we all share and how this is becoming more and more a scientific fact –not just a nice thought.

I have a copy of this and it a great documentary. It demonstrates the curious nature and basic goodness of mankind. He also clearly shows how good intentions and actions can bring about change. A person may be moving up in responsibility and awareness is so many ways. This is very enlightening. I loved it and wish that all who call themselves “scientologists” could accept the fact that they are not alone, or better than othrs, in their effort to make things better. Many are doing it far more successful and without an attitude of condemnation. I have recommended it to many. Thanks for the recommendation Mike here on your blog.

Thanks Mike (and Marty) for sharing!!!!

What a brilliant documentary. There are many documentaries which show what’s wrong with various aspects of the world and many of them are quite good, but they never really address what should be done about it, though they do serve to raise our awareness.

This one was different and a master piece as far as treating quite serious and (usually considered) tricky subjects in such a beautiful manner.

It is time for religion and science to realize that they are and have been brother and sister from the beginning and we are one step closer for the extremist on both sides to come to the conclusion that their parents are one and the same and so start working together for the betterment of all!

This film should be widely promoted, distributed and shown!

    Thanks, Ulf

Great take! It would be the most dangerous thing he ever did…

Chris Shelton, MSc @ChrisSheltonMsc

The only stunt I want to see this man perform is speaking out publicly against Scientology.

It would quite literally be the most dangerous thing he could ever do, far more so than these so-called "dangerous" stunts where his life was NOT really on the line at all. https://twitter.com/BritishGQ/status/1557314444392292352

We believe discriminatory rhetoric, misinformation, and hate speech have no place anywhere which is exactly why we’re fighting Scientology, its lies, and hypocrisy.

Including those spread by Scientology front groups like the Stand League.
