Great story, Dave. And while I can certainly understand and empathize with your astonishment and hurt when after volunteering your time to help this org you discover that you had actually been deadfiled by them, nonetheless I have no doubt that you can appreciate the ironly and hilarity of your situation at the same time. Just another disorganized, severely back-logged, non-functioning Scientology organization, producing very little or nothing and at the same time scrambling and desperate to make a suppressive target to move into a brand new shiny building in order to paste over their (and Miscavige’s) down statistics with an “upstat”-looking, Potemkin Village mask. An org unwilling and/or unable to pay for the help they desperately needed and as such forced to mooch off of anyone including someone they themselves as deadfiled! How embarrassing for them! But then, these people don’t GET embarrassed. They always have some handy “Why” to justify their own lack of production. Imagine, if you will, a real organization in the real world be it a business or a non-profit, producing almost nothing, paying their staff nothing, and then grubbing money from their own customers or donators so that they could move into fancy, expensive new office space, on the utter pretense that their organization is expanding!
Honestly, one cannot make this UP!

True. The scn bureaucracy is stuck in the 50s and 60s and seen with today’s perspective, it’s pathetic. It shows how blindly adhering to a policy without thinking makes people foolish. The purpose of the CF was not so much to keep track of who had contact with the org but to contact those people to pull them in. The strategy preceded any letter reg to follow them. No org worldwide can name a letter reg as personal priority. So once the CF is ‘fixed,’ maybe with many kicks in the staff and public butt, it will become a jungle again in a few months and again no one will be able to give it importance.

Because the times have changed significantly, and CF doesn’t work, and they know it!

Yes, Aqua is just like that. Everything is let go until when from the quicksand you only see the hand, and then they would send a mission from the SO formed by the most ruthless, devoid of empathy, and big shouters they had available. It’s been 20 years since I left, but as far as I know, everything continues to be managed like that or worse. SCN has always been and is perpetually in ‘swarm of locusts’ mode where it arrives, devastates without mercy, leaving nothing organized or that can grow back.

Right. And if the staff and their dumb public don’t get 6000 boxes of files done by LRH’s birthday they’ll be given a huge loss and made to feel bad. Sick f**king cult, I really hate them today. Sorry 🙂

Sooo typical of the cult, giving impossible targets like this. It really was their favorite thing to do.

They were SO disorganized.

How I used to hate getting guilted and coopted into these projects.

And I was just a public, never staff.

But I hated the disorganization and the “all hands” pressure, pressure pressure at the last minute. The Sea Ogres walking around like overseers on a cotton plantation, spurring us slaves on to greater production with “Spirit of Play” bullshit and “Time is only a consideration” bullshit. The manic enjoyment that emanated from them. I used to wonder, “Are these people ONLY capable of working and producing under enormous pressure and totally unrealistic fucking targets?”

Apologies for the vulgarity and a prayer of pure thankfulness to share right now, if I may.

I am so glad and grateful to be OUT of that insanity!

“dead lettered” should actually be “dead filed”.
Ethics files shall include a dead file. This file includes all persons who write nasty or choppy letters to an org or its personnel. Rather than go to the trouble of issuing a suppressive person order or even investigating, we assign writers of choppy letters to the dead file. When their area is enturbulated and we want to locate a suppressive, we can always consult our dead file for possible candidates and then investigate and issue an order. The dead file is by sections of the area or the world, and alphabetical in those
sections.
