Ever since I heard about T.C. paying people from Scientology as little as 25 dollars a week to run his home and wait on him I decided to never watch any of his films. He obviously condones the various abuses of many scientologists and ones leaving the religion or why would he still support D. mascavige and Scientology as a whole. I have to turn the ads for his new movie Mummy because it just makes me sick that these people think treating others like slaves is okay. I was a little disappointed that Russell Crowe chose to even be in the movie with Cruise. I cannot watch Travolta, or Christie A. either. Hollywood actors are usually enlightened and lead the way in social injustices. Any actors that choose to be in movies with these immoral actors does not deserve my money at all. D.M is nothing but a con artist, bully and anyone who supports the intentional abuse of others is lower than the lowest.

There is nothing wrong with your name. It is probably more causative than “Dead men tell no tales” and certainly less sarcastic. I was terminated from the Sea Organization the minute I tested positive for HIV. Later, when I went to get auditing at AOLA I was told that I had to wait for my sessions in Dept 3 even though I was under no Ethics Action. My wife and I had to sign something saying we realized that if we said anything bad about the Freewinds or the SO we would be hit with a Non Enturbulation Order.
And this was years before I said anything or even looked at and SP websites like this one. I wasted some good years. I could have gotten declared years earlier had I not been stupidly loyal to those cockaroaches.

Wow you said that so well. I agree with you, 100 percent. So nice to hear a view with empathy, caring and concern for others. But I guess Scientology was upfront when they stated their purpose of making the able, more able. They have no place for the less able. And they are dauntless, defiant, and resolute about that.

And, by the way, I’m not a bleeding heart, I’m not naive. I’m well aware that there are a number of people who ate themselves sick, drank themselves and/or drugged themselves sick, and otherwise made poor choices which created their current incapacitated conditions, and no, it isn’t “fair” that others have to pick up the slack and pay for their mistakes. No it isn’t fair. But the alternative, to “punish” them for their mistakes by letting them starve, suffer or die, is, to me, the wrong solution. Not to mention “Un-Christian”, for those (not me and necessarily anyone here on this blog) who profess to love Jesus Christ so much.

T.J., I totally agree with you. I believe that a society that cares not for its elderly and incapacitated is an uncivilized society. The body wears out, sometimes the physical at a far greater pace than the mind. A person’s mind is more who he is than his body, IMO. Used to be that families cared for their elderly, who lived with them at home, and these elderly “gave back” and would contribute by helping as they could with the young children and with household and gardening, etc. Well, that no longer exists but I think it was a good system. What kind of monster wouldn’t have a bedroom for their mother, or their elderly father?

I’m not Irish, but there’s an old saying from that country: “One mother can take care of 8 children, but 8 children can’t take care of one mother”. And as for Kissinger, I would imagine that he would be regretting those callous remarks of his now, wherever he is.

As a civilized society we need safety nets for people – for the elderly and incapacitated, for the drug addicted, for the mentally ill, and for those seeking asylum here, for those who cannot find work because of disability or lack of training, and for those desperately poor people who have no chance in their own countries who risk life and limb to reach the USA where they can do something, have something.

And, yes, there will be those who abuse these safety nets but then, what do we do -along with those able but unwilling to work, let the other justifiably non working sick, elderly, disabled, disadvantaged, etc. – all the “useless eaters” including all the people who all their lives were bad with money and never saved anything starve and die in the street as happens every day in the 3rd world?

One has to see that sort of thing up close for it to be really real. Seeing it up close would be an eye opener, I believe, for many Americans.
