Yes, complexity is equal to the degree of non-confront, is it not? And their answers are VERY complicated, to say the least. That, or just hostile to the messenger like two political fans going at the opposing opinion. No debate, just denigration of the person saying DM did anything wrong. No confront.

Unfortunately, like many have said here, most people won’t allow themselves to believe it until it actually, really happens to them.

Bad ethics handlings, unjust rulings in WISE committees, kangaroo court Chaplain cycles, no help handling people who are hurting others in the field (thieves, child molesters, entheta partners, spousal abuse, etc, etc,) the MAA won’t help anyone with these sources of suppression, in general.

Many members of the church have demonstrated that they are smart and talented. In the back of their smart minds they know the truth about Miscavige and the lies he tells. When the church is allowed to create an environment where the media is terrified to expose well known truths, the members’ suspension of disbelief is unchallenged. When the “silence” in the outside world explodes into mountains of eclaim for Gibney’s film which in turn generates an explosion of exposes of Miscavige’s enforced disconnection and abuse of members, the suspension of disbelief in many members goes to war with realty. The result is cognitive dissonance which begins to overwhelm them. Every truth told to him/her by exes and family is remembered, and after a time, he/she looks for the escape route. This is true for every cult.

I think in the next year, the number of members leaving the church will grow x47 x47. The escapees will be fortunate that the battles fought by Mike Rinder, Marty Rathbun, Tony Ortega. Karen D., and every ex that comments here, have created a welcoming, supportive reception if they choose to land among friends.

Amir, I used to work with him in Div Six at AOLA. He became the tours reg and traveled most of the time. Probably a smart move as he never had to deal with the day to day insanity that became PAC and AOLA. In case anyone was wondering I tracked down Steffanie Cary (Now Robinson) the old captain of AOLA. She went back to Australia. Judging by her FB pages she is still drinking the Koolaide. Looks like she’s planning to move back to the USA soon.
