Nope, I disagree. The legal term for what you’re missing is “undue influence.”

Check out “Cults Inside Out: How People Get In and Can Get Out” by Steven Hassan and “Cults Inside Out: How People Get In and Can Get Out” by Rick Ross to see why the victims are not to blame; well, certainly not to blame in the way you do, IMHO.

The ones who were born in or grew up in (like Claire Edwards, Neil Gaiman’s sister) did not have a choice and some of them ended up in the hole. Even the ones who did join at an age where they could make informed choices were not given the whole information before joining – quite the opposite.

Thank you Liz. Yes I was brainwashed and I like to tell my stories from that tour. It was a great experience and I don’t have to forgive myself. It’s the most typical thing to get fooled now and then in this world full of tricksters. I finally said, “this is bullshit” just like many other people did like Debbie Cook and Mike Rinder who lost his entire family in service to his moral compass. If my moral compass doesn’t kick in then I’m fucked. Scientology or no scientology. Without that moral compass a person is lost just like the Hole Dwellers. Those are lost people. You think they should be rescued? I wouldn’t try to stop such an effort nor would I try to start one. That’s the difference between you and me and I’m glad there are people like you.

Okay Johnnyboy, don’t get your panties all in a wad.
My point, whether I’ll informed of not, was that recruitment of young people ages 15, 16, our 17 are still considered minors. But I stand corrected. BTW, I’d watch that tone,… Sounds a bit defensive, paranoid.. Some habits die hard do they?

In reply to John Locke. Incorrect again Liz. I think that you won't find any kids in the SO who don't have parental consent. The Church was getting them back in the late 70's. Now child labor laws may being violated. BUT, as I pointed out, no one is being denied their inalienable human rights. When you make legal claims that aren't true you HELP the cult.
