Always remove such hard drives prior to selling or donating your computers. If you truly feel you want to prevent anything from being taken, have a drill press drive a hole through any part of the hard drive. Makes it impossible for anyone to extract anything from it!

No, they need those used computers hoping that the hard drives have not been erased so they can snoop to see who has been reading online entheta. Actually, even if the drive has been “erased” through Windows, the data is still there and can be recovered. To completely obliterate the data requires special procedures not readily available to the casual user. So, OSA can easily recover information.
