Right you are, though many do not.

And that’s because there’s a far more effective prison than one of physical restraints in which a person traps himself.

This is really shocking.

I completed a 5-year contract at a Class V Org.
One of the reasons I refused to re-sign was because I thought working on staff was too much like a prison sentence. Of course, this wasn’t literally so. No one was ever locked up or physically restrained. We could have walked away at any time and many did so.

This was true of the Sea Org bases that I went to as well.
At Saint Hill there was no security except for a couple of guys going around on bikes, and anyone could come and go as they pleased.

Shelly (and no doubt quite a few others) are literally incarcerated in a prison.

This is a terrible thing and I should think that Shelly and the others must be really despondent by now.

When I read these things, some emotions always start. I get turned around! In my opinion, at some point DM understood that some execs including Shelly began to doubt how ‘standard’ what he was doing was. And before they talked about it to take action against him, he got them out of the way. Then the ideal orgs. And so he alone would have clarified the planet. What to do with a whole management? All typical sociopath stuff. Just look at the golden age of tech. I remember, for example, the ‘inspector General bulletins’ 28-33 to read and perform for years. Results? Cross order on successful activities and downtrending statistics. Some fell like planes on fire. But then it was your condition. Give us back Shelly!
