He was a solid character actor, I don’t want to take that away from him.

But I checked on IMDB, and for 222 credited projects, he was only once nominated for a major industry award in 1981 – and didn’t win (plus 1 minor nomination and 1 minor win). That’s just what countless other actors have accomplished without Scientology, and nothing indicative of any increased ability.

Even Scientology’s big names haven’t won any major industry awards, and mostly were only nominated long ago around the time they first got into Scientology. If anything, the evidence is that the sort of training that results in the Scientology ” thousand-yard stare” limits their acting range to the consistently unexceptional.

Interesting. I was reading actor Geoffrey Lewis’s obituary online and it said he was “a member of the Church of Scientology for which he credits his acting career “.
