I agree, great interview. I finally got to see Going Clear on HBO GO (yay!) and one very important thing about the film was watching the Mike Rinder clips. There is a concept called the ring of truth: Something rings true, or it does not. In the film, there were clips of Mike when he was in and defending Scientology, and there were interviews of him now.

The concept of words “ringing true” was perfectly illustrated there. You have the same man, talking in different times. In the earlier clips, you can just tell that he is under pressure and he is lying through his teeth. In the later (current) clips, the same man’s words ring utterly true.

The difference is glaring and obvious, and it perfectly illustrates the concept.

The later man also seems much happier and more at peace. I have my own shit between the “then me” and the “now me.” My best to you and yours, Mike Rinder.

They know they’re lying about being a religion and about stealing religious words from Christianity, which per Ron, has Jesus and the cross being an implant. Any overt is not an overt to them if it saves the church, and the end justifies the means in Scn.

Interesting that all the terms the church uses to appear “religious” and the cross they use and the minister’s collar they had our execs wear in the Battle of Portland and other times, all come from Christianity, a religion that Ron said was an implant and not true. Again, they lie when it suits them and “for the greater good.”

Well, That would be the christen thing to do.

And you’ll note that ALL of their religious terminology is a straight lift from Christianity. Seeing as they didn’t really have any of their own.

“Minister”

“Chapel”
The tricked-up cross
etc etc

And then they have the hide to run Easter and Christmas “services”. (What, no Hannukah? no Diwali?)

It seems the only real religion they’re aware of is Christianity.

From this alone we can see that they themselves don’t really believe they’re a religion.
