Seriously the church don’t have to have any transparency when it comes to their finances and what they do with them? That is unbelievable this church has the absolute freedom to do what ever it wants because of tax exemption. The fact that I have seen this group commit so many crimes in just about every way they can I cannot understand why no.1 they don’t lose the exception and 2. Why the police haven’t charged David Miscavige with assault. How many more stories about the same things have to be told? What is it going to take before something is actually done. Do they have to kill somebody before the police take it seriously. It is so outrageous that they claim to be a charitable church they have never donated food or shelter, clothes etc. Just more pointless buildings so they can keep every penny in the church.

I noticed a very disturbing quote on the “testimonial” section of the CCHR letter Mike highlighted. The third Milano comment, the writer states “…I came home and threw away all my psychotropic drugs and told my doctor I did not want to take anything any more.” That statement should never have been printed! Going off any medication without medical supervision can have devastating effects to the individual, including death.

The CofS is also never going to recoup their investment in buildings, as most of them are oddball properties that would be hard to sell, that until recent years they often paid too much for – now they buy the ugliest cheap office park properties that no one else wants, which down the line will be worth little more than the value of the land they sit on. The buildings have been remodeled inside in unusual configurations with extravagant features that no future buyer would want, and so will likely be discounted down to the value of the shell of the structure, under the presumption that they would have to be gutted and re-done for new tenants.

The “ideal” org campaign seems to be more a way to burn money to try to keep the IRS off Scientology’s back, and keep the true believers distracted with the illusion of “expansion.” The financial analyst John P. Capitalist also views it as an asset-destroying gambit, not an asset-preserving one.

The IAS crows about “grants” that seem to be just be for something minimal like the rental of a truck for an event, when we’ve parsed their weasel-words. Members are presumably then hit up for all the remaining major costs, including promotional materials – which if sold to them at typical high Scientology markups, would probably provide international management with more profit than the the amount of the “grant.”

Yes, Jan Eastgate. The IAS grants only covered some of their special marketing tools like pamphlets, video productions, video trailers etc. They did not cover travel, food and lodging, salaries, power and water, gas, building repairs, antyhing having to do with running the organization or satellite organizations.
When I heard they had to do their own fund raising it further reinforced the fact that the IAS is a scam using the front groups to falsely get members to donate.
