I just started listening to your podcast and have a ton to catch up on. What really shocked me was the interview with your wife when she said she went to her parents house and was knocking on the door. I was like who does that? I’ve never knocked. I walk in. I have keys. I have security codes. My heart heart breaks for all of you that have been disconnected from your families. Keep doing what you’re doing. I hope you have a wonderful New Year with many blessings.

That's how Cults starts gradually extinct, organically.

It's a product which has on average 50 years life cycle.
In some cases like James Jonestone or Heavens Gate it's much less whereas a Montreal based Canadian UFO Cult ended almost after 50 years .

It's all about evolution in geo political ideologies: all the Cold War era Cults are on vantilator and there is no chance that Chinese or Russians pose threat to Capitalist/ Market economy as they themselves are now the prime beneficiaries.

I agree that the pandemic's continued effect on Scientology public will pull many people out of the information bubble and they'll fade away. I also agree that the impact of the Danny Masterson trial will be significant in the minds of non-Scientologists, as Miscavige's attempts to obstruct justice in order to protect the cult's name while still keeping the Masterson family as donors come to light.

But as I (and many others) have said for a long time, I think the key thing Miscavige is trying to preserve in Scientology is the Sea Org. Miscavige doesn't like to spend time with the members, even the biggest whales giving significant amounts of money. He doesn't hang out with Bob or Trish Duggan, the biggest whales by far. And he certainly doesn't seem to care what the hundreds of millions of non-Scientologists thinks, so ultimately the effect of the Danny Masterson trial won't be that much on the already dismal recruitment picture.

Miscavige does, however, get a big emotional thrill out of terrorizing staff members, either directly by yelling, hitting, etc., or knowing that he's creating all these emergencies that are all "Hill 10" fires that have to be put out. So he's fine with an ever-shrinking pool of regular public and a couple hundred whales that more or less pay the bills, as long as he has a staff about the size of the current staff base today (4,000+ miserable drones).

With that in mind, I would suggest that the "Golden Age of Administration" that may be unveiled this year (according to the source in Tony Ortega's blog last week) could be at least as damaging to the organization in 2022, even if it's less visible to the outside. It will demoralize longtime older staff who have been around for decades, and who know LRH "Admin Tech" far better than Miscavige does. They'll go off the rails if some procedure they've built their lives around is now forbidden. Erasing it from earlier editions of the Green Volumes won't help because they have memorized the old version over the decades.

Miscavige will pull all the staff out of the field, chain them up in Flag (with lots of quarantines every time a COVID wave rolls through Florida), and they will go out of their minds. In other words, the "Golden Age of Administration" will take an already creaking and fragile organization and potentially give it a fatal push. At that point, there will be no ability to pretend there's anything to Scientology other than Flag. We may even see Saint Hill, all the LA facilities, and Gold Base being abandoned and left with security staffs and a handful of people desperately trying to pretend that the place is viable.

Of course, we know that it's dangerous to predict the iminent demise of Scientology. It was an easy conclusion to reach after everyone but Hubbard went to jail for Operation Snow White in 1977. But Scientology actually continued to grow after the management structure was decapitated. It's a truism that you may know that an organization is doomed, but it's impossible to predict exactly what will cause it to implode, and when it will happen (this is sort of the Heisenberg principle of physics, applied to organizations). So I'm stopping short of predicting that this year will finally be THE year, but I agree with Mike's conclusion that 2022 will be far more painful for David Miscavige than the past few years, which have been relatively calm periods in the death spiral.

KMK,
Thanks for that answer!
I understand about the mushrooms...Their use may or may not prove to be more therapeutic in conjunction with therapy. Finding a good therapist who is familiar with cult-related PTSD and the general psychological damage that happens as a result of long term cult participation can be challenging...but is well worth the effort.
Regarding the new concepts and nomenclature, I'd humbly suggest digging into the subject matter slowly and deeply, with extra caution applied to labelling/diagnosing people around you.

Remember that scientology "study tech" is not scientific, nor is it about study; it's a "technology" of INDOCTRINATION. The so-called "4 barriers to study" are bullshit, but...don't take my word for it, check out a course entitled LEARNING HOW TO LEARN on the website COURSERA, that's based on the latest scientific data about how we learn, process, and remember information/new skills. It's a FABULOUS intellectual detox tool for ex-scientologists!
I wish you peace and joy and relief as you untwist and heal from the Hubbardian mind-fuck and scientological spirit rape!
Carpe diem!

Mark, you know that this blog is being constantly monitored by our dedicated OSA friends. What a depressing job that has to be. Also, the occasional scientologist doing yet another set of 'lowers' and dealing an effective blow to the enemy in the guise of a troll will stop by. They are always lots of fun.

I would like to offer up what I call the "OSA Song" by the Who. It describes these folks perfectly. And I'm with you in hoping that they will make their way to the exits sooner rather than later. No on wants to be the fool who is last to leave and having to turn the lights off...

In reply to <a href="https://www.mikerindersblog.org/happy-new-year-7/#comment-448754">Mark</a>.

I'm going through a bunch of terms that are new to me. My family is all narcissists, not sure if I am but I certainly exhibit the behavior like they do. They grew up behind the Berlin Wall under Soviet rule but their behavior seems like a willful ignorance intended to annoy over decades and kill someone slowly. Death in the family at Christmas really brings out the backstabbing and invalidation, my entire family always gave me the silent angry treatment and never told me anything was wrong, I just thought that was normal, I new now nothing else and now it's the same crap at moms funeral. I guess that is why I was blind to Scientology crap? Blind to narcissism and so I became one as I didn't know my own behavior.

I'd like to think it's the death of mom and stress but you can tell when tears are fake and anger lurks underneath. I never really saw them as POS until I applied the narcissistic label to all of them. It did not make sense to me just to apply it to one member, things did not make sense till we all were classified and the behavior could be seen clearly in the context.

I have tried mushrooms and smoke week mostly. The mushrooms I don't know what they do. They are fun and can really restore some vitality and make you happy but it's not like I go out of my way to do them or even want to. The thinking isn't much clearer than when I'm sober. I ended up on the floor pretending to be a mole and had to spit in my hands and lube my face. Then I thought the lines on the floor were really zen and that the underside of my computer chair is really vast and spacious. Maybe in the context of therapy it may be different but I can assure you the trip is what the trip is, You don't get much input with the result even in good surroundings. And the hangover is really weird too which kind of makes me not want to do them.

On a funnier side of the coin.
I made a comic about Scientology In Space, it's pretty clean but I think it hits right where it hurts.
