I found a video of Marty’s today. One of the ones when he was speaking out against the abuses of Scientology. Then I came across these. He seems to be a completely different person. Looking more into why Marty did this is weird because we have our speculations. The thing is he could have stayed quiet about it. Instead he did a pathetic collaboration if you could even call it that with Scientology. He betrayed the people who trusted him. Some of the people are the people he helped.

In reply to Oliver Twist. From the outside, it just looks like Marty is batshit crazy unfortunately. Poor guy….Scientology really messed him up. I’m a teacher and everyone knows that Scientology is a bad news cult, even kids! I can’t believe anyone is still involved.

I don’t disagree with anything you said, but I will my own opinion. I don’t think Marty ever really rejected the “church” teachings. I don’t think he can allow himself to admit he was wrong. He was a squirrel; although, at times a very hidden one.

I think davey boy offered him a boatload of money, no punishment, and have allowed him to pursue the bridge without payment or sec checks That’s what he really always wanted, and that’s what he got.

In reply to Another Wog. Just now stumbling upon this blog as I search for info on the cold case death (murder?) of Marty's brother. Marty is my uncle. Well, my moms cousin. Just reading, and trying to understand...I have ZERO contact with him, and never have. I have memories of him visiting when I was a teen, and bringing over those weird books with valcanos and stuff on the front. Anyway, this is all very fascinating to me. Thanks.

I also was disappointed in the movie. His treatment of Marty made me feel uncomfortable. It probably wasn’t enough on its own to send someone ‘over the edge’, but combined with other things of a very stressful nature, maybe. Sabine, thanks for your personal account, and I share your wishes for Marty to find a more serene outlook on life and all in it.

Purely coincidentally, I happened to be reading a page at Marty’s blog (which I have seldom done before) – but I followed a link from somewhere and it was to a page from exactly 4 years ago. There were wonderful photos from Mike Rinder’s wedding, with Marty giving away the bride, the beautiful Christie, in stead of her father, with a heartfelt message from Marty. Such a happy time, such loving words, what an abrupt turnaround just 4 years later. Happy Anniversary Mike Rinder!
