After I started the treatment for HIV it only took 6 weeks for the amount of virus in my blood to drop from a level so high the test could not measure it; i.e 1 million + viruses in 1 cubic millimeter of blood to so low ( less than 20). It took a year or 2 for my T-Cell count to return to the normal range. Currently, my immune system is just as strong as anyone who never had HIV/AIDS. This was good because I tested positive for COVID in December. Symptoms were mild, just stomach trouble for a few days.

The Captain Freewinds told my wife in 2002 that my death was imminent and that nothing could be done for me and that she should “End Cycle” on me. Had she done so there is no doubt that I would have been dead as the Chiro the ship sent me to told me in no uncertain terms not to take the “deadly” drugs the regular (SP) doctors would give me.
I think that I got the better end of the deal. Now I am an SP and am still alive, unlike 3 of my friends who were in perfect health when I was sent off to die, namely Richard (Wak) Allcock, former 1st Engineer of the Apollo and Chief Engineer of the Freewinds, Paul McElveen, Deputy Captain Freewinds. Both of them supposedly died of prostate cancer. They must have just received no medical treatment until it was too late, just like me. My father had prostate cancer and the doctors just zapped it with radiation and that was the end of it. My main charge on the whole cycle was that they held my wife on the ship against her will, clearly stalling while they waited for me to die. I was fighting to stay alive mainly so I could see her again before I died. I did not know if I would ever see her again. It was the same as if she had been kidnapped.

That’s exactly what I was wondering, Jere. Not that 100K is peanuts. I’m not saying that AT ALL. It is a very respectable annual income. And in many places in America one could live quite comfortably and well on it.

But heavens, for someone who can afford to donate a million for her Gold Meritorious status, snagging a 2D who brings in 100K couldn’t possibly be considered “upstat”.

Unless she’s now into pleasing herself and as such has factored in the possibility of having to support her new cult husband.

Maybe the Norwegian settled a lot of cash on her in their divorce and she’s flush, and now ready to marry someone she actually likes, who well might be cash poor and maxed out in his credit if he’s solidly in the cult.
