I like what you said and agree with everything but the one statement that Scientologists are “that very rare breed” of people who want to help. There are all sorts of people who want to help out there in the world; doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, clergy, people who volunteer for community service, etc. Just because someone is a Scientologist, and ‘wants to help’ doesn’t make them rare, it just makes them a good human being.

I totally agree that Shorty has no interest in actually getting tech applied, and his constant refrain that the books, auditing, and now even the Clear bracelets (!) were no good when LRH was alive and no one understood anything is a major inval of LRH (and older Scientologists) worse than anything anyone outside the church could concoct. While putting LRH on a pedestal where butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth they have made him totally irrelevant. However I do think that there are other efforts to truly help this planet – charitable efforts like Heifer International and many others.

TT, Hubbard may have said never to use lies in PR but he himself was a compulsive liar so any lying from the church is not incongruous with its founder’s example.

I, for one, don’t consider scientologists a “rare breed” who want to “improve man’s condition”. Claims of caring about mankind is the first refuge of the scoundrel. Anyone who thinks “man’s condition”, meaning his human nature, can be collectively improved is COMPLETELY out of touch with reality. Those who think they are going to save mankind are themselves walking corporations of insecurities, resentments and anxieties. Reformers want to dominate others and call it “helping them”. It’s an egotistical enterprise and nothing more.

Charles Dickens peppered his novels with such characters. They worked slavishly to help mankind while their personal lives and those around them went to shit. Sounds like one of those “rare breed” Sea Org members.
