All cops are wounded. You almost always see people at their worst, you see death and destruction, you find or are dispatched to suicides and accidental deaths, you write tickets to people on their way to work and to appointments making them late and highly annoyed, you arrest foul mouthed drunk drivers, you hear your friends getting killed over the police radio, I passed a cop killer who shot a partner of my roommate’s in jail that very night, and you see your pals going through messy divorces and losing their children. I lost two partners to suicide and another one drank himself to death after he was placed on leave. Another partner watched his wife plunge to her death in a burning PSA jet after it collided with a small plane over San Diego on TV. I was involved in a shooting right out of the academy. One night I reached in a woman’s window to hand her a ticket when she rolled the power window up on my right arm and dragged me down Wilshire Blvd. I finally freed myself and struck the pavement at 55mph, bare headed, ending up in a three day coma at UCLA Med., with a broken neck, brain damage, aphasia and amnesia. I was out of work for eight months. All of us are damaged, some more than others, some crack and some of us make it to retirement while others are fired. It is a tough job and the accolades are too few in number. That’s my story in a nutshell. Now I live in a nice home on six acres in NH in the trees with a spring fed brook with my understanding wife and three laid back dogs. Both my wife and I have been interested in the damage Scientology has wreaked and how those who have escaped have flourished.

jburtis2013, I am not familiar with what you went through but it seems you have had a difficult time yourself. I’m sorry for that and hope that you can get into a better place with it all.

My question to those who were a part of scientology, is it possible that scientology would waive their costs just so they could get someone embedded within the police department?

Cops used to drink together, party together, and have cook-outs together. At these get togethers every topic imaginable was up or grabs. I mean everything. Since I was once a sociable guy, I never once even caught a rumor that a cop was a Scientologist. If a guy was it would be grounds for ostracism. A Scientologist cop couldn’t afford the costs associated with both worlds. When you examine the police department from the outside a lot of people would say that it’s also cult with it’s teachings based on the California vehicle code (VC), the penal code (PC), the health and safety code (H&S) and the applicable case law governing all three.

It seems that is their “go to defense”…the word BIGOT strike fear in many….as in BIG trouble….i.e. you don’t like me because of my religion, color, size, shape etc.

We can only hope Aqua…..Statute of Limitations is one thing, a series of cover ups another…….I”d like to be a fly on the wall in the court room..

Well, “impeccable” is way too generous an adjective IMO but I do appreciate your warm-hearted acknowledgement Ms. P, and won’t cavil with you about it 🙂

I hear you, Peter. Consider my comment as coming from an academic viewpoint – more like, how things are supposed to be rather than how they actually ARE. Unlike a number of people posting on this blog I’m not a Californian and other than having read here that these police have long been sewn into the cult’s pocket I’m ignorant about the LAPD.
