This is one of those situational ethics questions that has no absolute right or wrong answer. I would also think it is highly individualized and impossible for one person to answer for another. My heart would say boycott them all and try to publicly expose the crime. However, intellectually, I know that that would be far too much for any one person to do alone. It would also create monstrous issues with the economy (j/k). I think it boils down to how you personally felt about the situation. I would also say that for art, while Rand is inext icably tied to her work, many artists are not. That likely makes it easier- how much do you know about the artist behind each painting in a museum or gallery? I guess if you knew the truth it could negatively effect your feelings- I don’t know. Just my 2 cents

Once you DO know, is it only art that gets such a pass?

If you do know the local pizza man beats his wife, do you buy his pizza?
If the policeman attends nazi rallies, would you want him to be the officer investigating a case you have?
If you do know the woman who runs the dry cleaner is embezzling money from her business, do you continue to use her service?
If you do know the head of the security company you were looking to hire for an event has 1 murder conviction and 3 assault charges pending… do you hire him anyway?
If you know the teacher has a sexual assault conviction, would you leave a child alone in their presence?
If the taxi driver is a known heroin addict, do you get in his cab?

Like I said, I am always interested in this idea that artists get a pass. I don’t know if I agree with the “the art is separate from the person who created it” idea. It can be treated that way. It can also not be treated that way.

Lot of out-of-context and literally understood nonsense here implying Hubbard was a 1950s version of Heinrich Himmler. And yet what does society or rather psychiatry/psychology and the justice system do to the anti-social personality? They stick them or rather “quarantine” them in lunatic asylums and prisons so that they can’t damage the social personalities and society. Or let them out to run amok when they feel like it. Or damage them further with their so-called “treatments”.

The only thing is, Hubbard really and acutely and accurately pointed out the attributes of such people and so those sociopaths who escape this “quarantining” by their sly means, don’t like the fact that Hubbard exposes their activities quite clearly – and so rant and rail against Hubbard.
