My Uncle is African American and cried the day Obama was elected, not necessarily because he agreed with all of his politics, but because as a 70-something year old man a black president was something he said he thought he’d never see. He’d been involved in the Black Power movement and stepped away (he’s a Christian) when “It was being twisted into an inaccurate version of Islam and used for the forwarding of certain individuals personal vendettas.”

When Obama was elected he said to me, “Sugar you watch, there are a lot of people who’ve been simmering for a long time. This scares the hell out of them. We’re going to see a LOT of ugly starting to wake up in the coming years because they’re going to see this as a sign to make their ‘last stand’ before their country or creed – their ignorant prejudice – becomes completely unacceptable.” He’s generally quite conservative, but not Trump fan by any stretch. He was the opposite w/Obama. He (and a majority of my POC relatives) agreed that a black president and simmering racism meant it that some people were just waiting to grasp onto people who were unhappy with left politics to try to equate one with the other. A personality that bombastic just “helped” that along a bit more quickly/dramatically IMHO, but was inevitable regardless.

If you read recent articles in Christianity Today and other major publications featuring key opinion leaders for Christians, there is an outcry that in fact Trump does NOT appropriately represent the values of many (hopefully most… unfortunately the extremely loud fundamentalists seem to be heard & repeated far more) Christians, but that doesn’t support the rhetoric so many are afraid to speak up or unsure because they also don’t support the policies of the current left candidates, either. It’s an interesting/scary time for us all.

I don’t believe any ONE person is responsible because if people didn’t genuinely feel that way and carry hate in their hearts, then no one person could just change them to suddenly hold prejudice. That said, I think it is a combination of many things, things that have been ignored, a shift in politics where everything has become SO divisive and given rise to the people in the extreme ends of both sides suddenly being the loudest voices and therefore assumed to be the voices for all.

We’ve definitely had a LOT of things triggering much of it and then as the more extreme points of view started coming out, it invited even more to feel emboldened. And a president who is divisive (as are his opponents) only helps escalate. The question is, who’s courageous enough to stop first on either or both sides? Otherwise things will just continue to ping-pong back and forth into perpetuity.

I am from a Polish Catholic background and my Grandmother and my mother were living in The US during WWII. However, we did have ties to a small town in Poland. We lost touch with many of our distant name sake cousins. After WW II my brother travelled to Poland and found their names at the murder site that the name began wit “A” which I refuse to correctly spell. My nephew later went to Poland and found out that it was a small town outside of Krakow. They got into trouble with the Nazi’s

My Grandmother and father’s side of the family is Jewish. My Grandma lost relatives in Auschwitz and lived through WWII as a child. Before she passed she said “groups like that” (my dad was mentioning scientology after a volcano commercial came on when I was a kid) are “all the same thing in different wrappings, if you have nothing to hide, you hide nothing. If they won’t tell you what it’s about unless you do certain things or give them money then you know they’re doing wrong.”

The Nazi’s were really popular and elitist for some time. Many people agreed openly and others supported via their silence.

He probably had OSA do a credit check on various members, and compare the total with their various beliefs, whether outrageous or mundane. We see the result… the IAS medal!

It was discussed in some detail on an episode of Aftermath as well as here and Tony’s blog. Also the links to ISONews thread on NOI discusses it and demonstrates the progression.

Initially Alfreddie Jackson and a couple others got things started some years ago. The Inglewood .Org and community center are a big part and the address of one or both is also used by NOI for their events and as a mosque location. They’ve been doing joint events and NOI events on the Freewinds and from that spawned the Black Scientologists movement and Facebook page. Leah Remini even donates substantial amounts to pay for books and auditing for (the “artist” formerly known as) Tony Muhammad. Originally it was supposed to just be study tech, Basics and Grades as a means to better “understand” the words of Fard and Farrakhan. But ISONews exposed that a few years back some key opinion leaders of NOI were doing substantial FSMing and even moving onto the OT levels.

What’s a shock is that nothing has blown up sooner! As far as vetting, they have more numbers than scientology and plenty of money to spend and, as we all know, that’s the only vetting about which DM cares.
