Yes...I am very aware of this cult and it's practices. I was stupid enough to be recruited to go to the free "training" sessions but I wasn't that down on my life that I couldn't see through the smoke screen and the crazy amount of $$$ that was needed to continue and have "friends" that could make you rich and happy. I did meet some pretty nice people though and it was fun. I was recruited by one of the best and she was good. The difference between this cult and nxivm is that scientology is under the guise of and protection of a religious organization that doesn't pay taxes. Like the LDS church (another f'd up cult) they have zillions in their coffers to fight with well paid lawyers and pay people to do harm to your reputation. Though, if Sarah Edmunson hadn't exposed them they way she did...maybe the would still be in existence?

PeaceMaker, my observation is that you're a careful observer of the evidence presented, careful to not take too-large leaps of logic that aren't supported by evidence and the trends evidence has shown, so I would grant you a little more leeway than you gave yourself there.

I'm a lot more cynical, so scn inc. has to prove their innocence to me, which they refuse to do due to Hubbard's paranoia of him or his creations undergoing any careful investigation.

Miscavige?? I don't believe a word attributed to him; anything he says is carefully crafted to say one thing and mean something else that doesn't hold him to anything in particular. "weasel words" are his stock in trade, even when others are speaking in his interest. He implies much while committing to nothing that doesn't directly benefit him immediately.

Scientology also has first amendment/legal protection privileges as it is recognized as a religion in the US
I’m sure Ranerie would have headed down that road eventually, he just got caught before he was able to do it.

I commend Leah and Mike for doing the right thing in exposing the truth against Scientology! I know far too well of these exact type of tactics via in the court system, the supposed Child Protection Division, Guardian Ad Litem, the adoption agencies, foster parents system, and more! That if anyone speaks against their illegal activities, and try to help good families, they will attack you and your family, too!

Curious, how come everyone who has given money to Scientology, does not sue them for fraud? First, Write a written report (for court evidence) to the Attorney General, I.R.S., F.B.I., and the local authorities to do an investigation on Scientology and the David Miscavige.

Then, take Scientology to court. And/or, considering the government agencies are not going after Scientology, you can include Scientology tactics, and take the individuals to court:

1) Prove that Scientology is not a religion.
2) Sue them for fraud (but are not limited to: Hubbard has not returned from the dead on the promised date; the funds are not going to where intended; and the misused funds on spying, harassment, defamation of character, and The First Amendment*, etc.), mental and emotional anguish. And request for all of your monies are returned.
3) Find out where all of the missing persons are. Including, but are not limited to, Scientology camps, and missing non-Scientology families.
4) Request for ownership of the empty buildings, and use them for what they are intended to be used for.

[I have over 20 years experiences in the corruption of the court system, and know all of their hidden tricks. I can teach you on what to do; what not do; what to look out for; how to find files when they come up missing; and how to keep your attorney honest, and to properly represent you. To sum up my experiences, I filed everything against the court system and against the agencies starting in 1998. I went to Canada and filed a refugee claim against USA in 2004. While I was in Canada, and when I returned after four years, no one placed me in federal prison for taking my minor children over the border without their perpetrator dad's permission. And they had left me alone, because of everything that I filed against them. Before I went to Canada, I was on the local news station, newspaper, radio, and even had higher government officials testified for me, and against their own agencies. I have kept everything in file cabinets. Some documents I had scanned, and saved in my numerous email accounts. I will be more than happy to share with you anything that you like. Praying that it will help with your cause. But ultimately, for the families whom you are helping.]

* 1. In some circumstances, the Supreme Court has held that certain types of speech are of only “low” First Amendment value, such as:

a. Defamation: False statements that damage a person’s reputations can lead to civil liability (and even to criminal punishment), especially when the speaker deliberately lied or said things they knew were likely false. New York Times v. Sullivan (1964).

b. True threats: Threats to commit a crime (for example, “I’ll kill you if you don’t give me your money”) can be punished. Watts v. United States (1969).

c. “Fighting words”: Face-to-face personal insults that are likely to lead to an immediate fight are punishable. Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire (1942). But this does not include political statements that offend others and provoke them to violence. For example, civil rights or anti-abortion protesters cannot be silenced merely because passersby respond violently to their speech. Cox v. Louisiana (1965).

Actually, NXIVM used their lawyers to help fend of and suppress opponents and exposees for decades, including by insinuating themselves in the local and capital political establishments. They were first exposed as a high control group or cult -- not just a training program -- around 2003, and then between 2009 and 2013 allegations and accounts of pedophilia and other abuses came out.

3 or 4 years ago they started branding in an inner circle group of women who were subject to blackmail and providing sexual entertainment to the leader, and it was only that outrage and a determined campaign by celebrity victims and former insiders that finally brought the authorites down on Raniere and other top leaders of the group. So it's rather qualified example of success, unfortunately.

Hey Mr. Rinder- I've just joined this bandwagon after watching the Aftermath series with Ms. Remini. I want to thank both of you for all that you are doing, not only for those that are still inside the church or for those that have been declared) disconnected from, but also for people like me who didn't know anything about what was going on behind closed doors. The stories I have seen break my heart. I really admire you most, Mr. Rinder. You were in so deep and have come out fighting. Your story shows those still inside that anything is possible, and shows those outside what an amazing strong person looks like and how much conviction you have to help. I hope your children one day can start to see the truth and your family can be reunited.

How do the residents of Clearwater put up with the strong presence of Scientology? If I lived there and saw that they were trying to take up MORE real estate that would just sit empty, I'd be outraged. The church should be giving back to the community they inserted themselves into and trying to stimulate their economy, not turning it into a ghost town.

He doesn’t want an actual ‘Aquarium’. He wants a lot that the Aquarium (via the city of Clearwater) was going to build on but decided not to. It was owned by the city and Scientology wanted the lot. It’s a long and tedious story that I’m sure you can find all the gory details here on Mike’s blog...but suffice to say Scientology did not get the ‘Aquarium’ lot. It sits right in the heart of Scientology’s spiritual headquarters and is actually very small. When Miscavige wants something and doesn’t get his way he is like a child having a temper tantrum. So the outcome was that he had these wealthy Scientologists buy up as much land in downtown as they could get. These properties now sit vacant. So now most of downtown Clearwater is owned by corporate Scientology or public Scientologists. Miscavige still doesn’t own the ‘Aquarium’ lot though.
