Well, what do you think about conflating now? His latest video comes right out and says “The Aftermath” is Leah’s “second reality tv show” (it was clear to everyone except you I guess that this is where he was going, he just had to set up the first “reality tv” and then attached the next one to it) and that all participants in the show are scripted, rehearsed liars who don’t have any stories worth telling.

Valkov, I don’t think Marty is “gossiping” for the reason you think he is, but other than that you’ve expressed my views exactly – better than I ever could have.

It appeared to me your initial response to his assertion gave the impression you thought he was talking about “Aftermath”, which I don’t think he was. So who’s conflating, if that’s true?

The given episode of “Family Matters” does appear to have scripted elements. Whether or not there is really any difference in kind between the two shows, I have no idea, and do not take anyone’s word for it. I guess I’ve seen too much of the Internet and the other media, to take anything for granted, or to accept anything said at face value right off the bat. There are too many layers to the reality onion.

Marty is gossiping. Why? I think it’s because he has been endlessly gossiped about. I don’t know, but some of what he says is plausible as far as I’m concerned. As usual, there are probably elements of truth on both sides. The differences are in how the basic facts are spun.

I don’t really lend much credence to most online comments on any site. There are trolls and sycophants everywhere, on any post on any subject, and everyone is an “expert”, or so they would like to appear. So my attitude has become thoroughly skeptical. Thoroughly. Opinions are less than a dime a dozen.

So I’m not trying to pick on you, Nor am I trying to pick on Marty. You have plenty enough commenters taking care of that, like the guy who disagreed with something I posted, so dubbed me an “insane troll”. A truly reasoned response, right? What does that make him? There are omissions and logical fallacies on both sides, and I sometimes notice those.

Anyway, carry on. I think you’re a pretty decent guy who is doing the best he can, which is often pretty damn good. It so happens I think Marty is, too.

i asked myself that very question last night, Valkov. i think it comes down to how critically you evaluate all the information – including: big picture context, past history, logic, separation of fact vs opinion, and a dash of common sense.

Tony’s gotten snotty with me in the past, but his work is well-sourced and consistent. Leah’s personality is a little bigger than what i’m personally comfortable with (yes, i’m a snowflake), but she’s been consistent. AND, she has presented the many stories of others whose past interactions corroborate what they’ve told on her show. Mike is about as steadfast as you can get; he’s not afraid to admit when he’s been wrong, and his compassion for others is without question.

Marty, on the other hand, has changed his stories so much you could get whiplash trying to follow them. he’s a hot-head who doesn’t like to be challenged. several people have presented evidence (see tony’s blog posts) that debunks Marty’s ramblings about Going Clear. several have presented information that conflicts with Marty’s (ever-changing) comments about My Scientology Movie. Mike’s said he hasn’t spoken to Marty in 2+ years – yet, Marty claims to have had relatively recent conversations with Mike, Leah, and Tony – AND that they’re all backstabbing each other.

you don’t have to be too smart to see through all of these bullshit stories about failed fundraisers, and made up smear campaigns if you A. consider the source, B. give minimal thought to the timeline, and C. take off your tinfoil hat and think about what makes the most sense: 3 people have been conspiring for years with countless other co-conspirators in order to – what? get a bunch of money? or 1 person (who was not all that even-keeled to begin with) has gone off the rails in order to (fill in the blank from your choice from about 20 equally plausible reasons).

Yes, it occurred to me.

Without going into any discussion about whether the statements Marty makes about his supposed correspondence with Leah Remini are true or not (he didnt come up with any dox and based on what he has claimed about supposed things he has said about me of which he knows NOTHING, I assume these are just more lies).

So, that aside, the question becomes what is the purpose of trying to assert that Leah’s earlier, non-scientology related reality tv show was not “authentic”? Only to create the impression that every TV show Leah Remini is involved in is scripted and not real. Marty feigns shock and surprise that a “reality show” is not real? Oh come on, does he think The Kardashians and Housewives of Atlanta etc etc are totally “real” and nothing is scripted or prepared beforehand? Does Marty live in a hole? Sorry to break the news to anyone that doesnt know, but “reality tv” is not real. I wonder if Marty is upset that there was a script on King of Queens?

He is of course trying to conflate “It’s All Relative” with “Scientology: The Aftermath” – a “reality” show and a docuseries? He would be upset if someone tried to say that because Battlefield Earth is fiction, this means DMSMH is also fiction. Same person, two different genres.

Marty makes pronouncements as if he is an expert on everything. Clearly he knows nothing about TV shows.

So, what did your honest fact-checking lead you to conclude?

Well Chris, there are people who eat up what Tony is shoveling, too. As well as some of the comments on this blog, too. Is that incredible and stunning?

Brian, I’m waiting to see if my post (above) about which of Leah’s reality shows Marty was referring to, will pass moderation and be posted here. You do know, don’t you, that she had a previous reality show titled “Family Matters”, right?

Has it occurred to anyone to check if Marty was referring to Leah’s previous show “Family Matters”, which was a reality show and did have a family therapy episode?
