So I looked up the Nashville Celebrity Center address because it wasn't there when I was and it's just up from my old neighborhood. Noticed two things:
1) The banner for STV says, "Curious? We thought so. So." Am I missing something, or did they turn grammar check off in Word?
2) You can go around the corner on Chestnut and see the huge parking lot empty except for the lone yellow van of delusion. Makes me proud of my home-away-from-home.

Wow you're probably right about the Mountain View COS looking like an episode of The Golden Girls..Lol Back in the early 80's when it was still Stevens Creek Mission I met Joy who ran the show and her husband Fred and they were definitely as old if not a few years older than me and I'm going to be 61 at the end of this year! Not that that's so old but it's definitely aging. The last propaganda I got from the org a few years ago said Joy was still in charge.

In reply to <a href="https://www.mikerindersblog.org/thursday-funnies-229/#comment-298012">Cindy</a>.

Cyndi, that event at an office in Sunland is put on by Nancy Daley and Neil Briggs - are those familiar names? They seem to be old staff auditors. Their website hides the Scientology connection under "counseling" until you really drill into it, so I'm guessing they are trying to lure "raw meat" public and maybe running a field auditor practice as well - ironically they're on the same street as the defunct mission, less than half a mile from its last storefront location.

I assume the Stewarts own that house where they host events - more or less; it's become a rather valuable property according to real estate records, but I bet it's been bled of any equity for money to give Scientology. LA county records apparently don't show ownership, but Scientology itself doesn't own residences except for Miscavige's.

But apparently no one wants to be on the hook for just re-opening the mission in a commercial space of its own, which these days probably means having to subsidize its losses. I wonder if both the "counselors" and the Stewarts are hoping that somehow something like ScnTV will result in enough renewed interest in Scientology for missions to be viable again, but that is so dubious that even the remaining diehard faithful are no longer willing to bet money on such a "postulate."

Thanks for contributing what I assume is local knowledge. It helps to give a better picture of what exactly is going on at the local level in Scientology.

p.s. Over at The Bunker I caught talk that the Bankes, who had taken over the South Coast and Ocala missions from another mission holder after previous turnovers (the Travoltas had originally opened Ocala), and who were apparently planning to open another in Tijuana, have split. He was the mission holder, but she was one of the dentists who had managed to aggressively grow a practice into multiple locations, apparently under his management, a job he probably no longer has. That could throw franchise ownership into turmoil again - the missions increasingly seem to be treated like hot potatoes, and to require "whale" sponsorship.

In reply to <a href="https://www.mikerindersblog.org/thursday-funnies-229/#comment-297844">Old Surfer Dude</a>.

Kirstie is smoking the "20 million members" crack, in fact. That number is apparently circulating as scuttlebut - even though there's not supposed to be that sort of rumor-mongering in Scientology - and we get a whiff of it from time to time.

Ally is a prime, sad example that actors don't actually do well in Scientology, and usually see their careers tank and fade into oblivion. No one would even know who she is if not from Cheers decades ago, and the commercials promoting a weight loss program that she herself was unsuccessful at following - an embarrassing failure.

COB apparently has a lot of property. I wonder what that is a symptom of?
