Jesus, that super bowl ad didn’t give Miscavige the bounce he needed to pass up Mike. Bet that pissed him off. Someone’s going to the hole for sure…

And Scientology.org’s *bounce rate is up 7% from the previous 3 months….

What is also amazing is the uniformity of it from one part of the country or even one part of the world to another. Always the same thing – you must come in but we won’t tell you why until you are here. You are right it is designed to make you curious, but only works on new people, after a while its simple to work out, they either want your money or want to recruit you for staff.

I am not sure when the Battle Creek building was actually purchased. It was formerly the Hart Hotel and was in terrible condition. The dedicated public actually did a ton of renovations on that building at great expense and work. There was a new roof put on, all the floors were demoed and the rubble removed with a small front loader jimmied into the building and up the rickety stairs and there was a fundraiser to buy windows. You can not even imagine how hard people worked on that building. But it all ground to a halt over 8 years ago, before even the recession of 2008.

There is just not a big enough community to fund and support the renovation of an 1890’s building that needs millions of dollars of work. And now the Michigan Scientology public is saddled with another white elephant of a building in a similar state of disrepair in downtown Detroit. There is just no way it can happen. And even if Int or the IAS ante-up the money there are not enough people or interest to keep the lights and heat on.

Really what is needed, if scientology wants a presence in Michigan, is an economical lease for one of the thousands of empty commercial buildings int he Detroit-Metro area that are located in an area such as Royal Oak or Ferndale that have street traffic and up and coming neighborhoods. Then there might be some hope for the people that still want to do scientology.

The scene in Michigan has devolved over the last 40 years. They heyday was probably mid 1970-1982. It’s a sorry state of affairs at this point and a lot of good intentions and money and energy were channeled into the boondoggle it is now.

Oh, but if you listen to Oat Tea stories, you’ll see how they can make traffic lights turn green for them, and immediately find parking spots.

All for the low, low price of all they have got, plus all they can manage to steal from business partner and borrow from banks.

Shelley, I am stunned to read Craig’s email to your mother. I have no knowledge of him, since I’m in the U.S. He sounds like a sociopathic person to me. Thank you very much for sharing your Mom’s story here. She must have been a wonderful mother for refusing to choose between her daughters, spending a lifetime in the church herself. Take care.
