There is an excellent You-Tube video by Chris Shelton that covers the whole “sovereign citizen” crazy ass movement. Check it out on his channel. He does a great job explaining it.

This was in the 1970’s and the guy knew a bit about Scn. His counter to Scn was, “Philosophy without God is empty.”

One time when I was living in LA I decided to chat with a Hare Krishna who was marching around on the sidewalk and see if I could talk some sense into him. We had a pleasant chat but we both remained firm in our own convictions.

Jew Boy – Your comment got me thinking. (oops – lol) The “scriptures of both religions” remain the same but the *thinking* in the NOI might be changing. Any NOIs taking any Scn course would be learning clamspeak and begin thinking with it even though they insist they remain Muslims. Imagine NOIs walking around talking about overts and withholds.

My guess is that Scientologists regard NOIs as odd ducks but since they’re studying Scientology eventually they’ll get their heads straight.

Back then, the NOI still had their Savior’s Day event at an arena that held about 15,000 people, though it’s unclear just how many attended. There are no accurate statistics available, but I’ve checked with sources that follow the group, and membership has been estimated at about 30,000, apparently mostly concentrated in the Chicago area.

It’s possible that they trained a thousand Dianetics auditors, many possibly just in co-auditing, and gave an average of about 10 hours of auditing to each member actively involved in the auditing program, but an average of only around 3 hours organization-wide. Those are the the sort of Scientology-style statistics that seem impressive at first, but that don’t amount to a lot once broken down – and that effectively confirm that the active membership is rather small.

The NOI has since moved their annual event to a much smaller facility, and appears to have shrunk significantly – like Scientology.

“Announcing” that the NOI had graduated 1,055 auditors in three years might be hype to keep the NOI crowd pumped up. “Where are they? I want some free auditing!”

Wiki requests “citations for verification” which is a good thing but sometimes it’s worthwhile to double check the citation. Here’s something from the wiki article on the Nation of Islam.

The #13 citation comes from “The Final Stand” which is an NOI publication. Do they actually keep accurate nationwide statistics? It’s possible but questionable. I agree that wiki is an amazing source of information.
