It is now official. Scientology's latest censorship effort has inevitably proven to be another in their long series of PR footbullets. The screening of Going Clear on Friday 2 October will begin at 7pm at Muvico Palm Harbor. After the screening, the theater manager has set aside 45 minutes for Q and A and both Sara Goldberg and I will be happy to answer questions. In addition, renowned Tampa CBS affiliate investigative reporting veteran Mike Deeson has agreed to be the moderator for the Q and A session. Mike adds his 30+ years of Bay … [Read more...]
Leah Remini: Troublemaker
See Tony Ortega's blog for the story. Believe me, there are some people who are going to find the title of this book oh so appropriate. David Miscavige, Tommy Davis and Tom Cruise, take a bow... PS: I also guarantee, you will be laughing out loud. Leah is VERY funny. … [Read more...]
The Latest Scientology PR Foolery
Scientology appears to believe they can now tell the citizens of Clearwater what movies they can watch. Another PR footbullet from scientology. I wonder if COB Theaters are ready for the backlash for buckling to scientology's "threats" not to show the film? It's still on their website even.... Wonder if they might change their minds about being scientology bitches when word gets out? And I wonder how this is going to effect the Academy Award voters. This is REALLY dangerous territory to be censoring movies. If there was not already a backlash in Hollywood, this might bring it … [Read more...]
Going Clear Emmy Sweep
It was a rough night for Dear Leader. First, Going Clear was presented an Emmy Award for best documentary, best director and best writer. Bam. Tons of media coverage about it. But I loved the quote at the end of this article: Regarding a possible followup, Gibney noted, “There’s a lot more material already that I’ve received, more to come out — and so far the IRS has not revoked its [tax-exemption] protection so there’s a lot more to be done.” Alex Gibney is a REAL champion of human rights -- not because someone handed him a certificate that says so after he handed … [Read more...]
Is David Miscavige a Religious Leader? Updated
THIS POST CREATED MORE INTEREST THAN USUAL, AND AS IT IS A HOLIDAY WEEKEND I AM TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT AND SIMPLY UPDATING IT FOR TODAY WITH A NEWS ITEM THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE POINT SO STARKLY IT COULD NOT BE MORE APPROPRIATE. See one of the hundreds of articles reporting on this below and note a few things about it. First, the photo of the Pope out shaking hands with the "ordinary people." Second, that he is taking two refugee families into the Vatican. Third that he is calling for all Catholic parishes, monasteries and religious communities to also host refugee families (and of … [Read more...]
Scientology Buying Media Stories Again
A new advertorial has appeared from the bubble of self-delusion. The only reason it doesn't create a flap like the scientology advertorial in The Atlantic is that nobody reads World Religion News. (See here if you are unfamiliar with The Atlantic fiasco) But this does provide some interesting insight into the bubble mindset. This is how Miscavige tells his troops to get media coverage (he is afraid to talk to any media or have anyone speak to them in any way). And it reflects the canned, controlled messages he feeds the sheeple at his events. I have broken this advertorial into 4 … [Read more...]
Miscavige Media Madness
A few days ago I posted something about David Miscavige's response to the Tampa Bay Times -- Miscavige Media Handling. And now this. An article published in Business Insider yesterday continuing the discussion about John Oliver's brilliant piece on televangelists and tax exemption. (And, in case you missed it, Oliver took another jab at scientology in his show last Sunday). What is remarkable here is not the article itself. It contains virtually no new news other than an inaccurate statement from Anthony Ole, the president of Trinity Foundation where he seems to think sci … [Read more...]
Scientology Internet Fail
Try as they might, scientology is incapable of accomplishing any positive results on the internet. Miscavige shows "stats" at his events like "people look up scientology every 1.63 seconds" or "we have 627Xed the reach for our programs on the internet" or other completely meaningless statements. All the while they continue to raise money for the "KCET studios" because this facility will allow scientology to "take over the internet." Miscavige has spent a LOT of money to create a video driven website at scientology.org. And probably more money paying than that to click farms in India and … [Read more...]
Miscavige Media Handling
I have been noting for some time now the strident, arrogant and often bizarre responses to the media that emanate from David "Karin Pouw" Miscavige. And here is the latest response to a small piece in the Tampa Bay Times. Interesting he is so infuriated about the media mentioning that a politician and his wife are at the Ft. Harrison. Why? Well, the simple answer is that being associated with scientology is such a terrible stain on you, that Miscavige feels the need to "attack, never defend" the reporter who made note of these facts. How strange. It's a … [Read more...]
Where’s The Monumental Expansion Dave?
This is a page from the latest edition of Planetary Dissemination News. Once again, it is hard to hide the truth. Partly because those within the scientology bubble often don't even understand what they write. More proof that the lies that are repeated over and over by Miscavige and Co that he has overseen an "era of unprecedented expansion" is a preposterous lie. So, more than half the largest cities in the world do not have an org OR EVEN A MISSION? But, look a little closer, and even this is a lie. This is the list of cities with populations greater … [Read more...]
