Apparently they freaked out over the posting about Nashville “ideal” org on Saturday.
Here is a new shot taken by one of our Special Correspondents today showing a cop stationed in front of the org — and there was a second one in the parking lot not visible in this frame. Two police officers in the parking lot.
They are definitely not there for crowd control on Monday afternoon. Same number of cars in the parking lot today as when I visited on Friday and the VM van has not moved.
Perhaps they were there to serve a warrant on someone? Or to make a drug bust?
Not likely. More likely they are off-duty cops hired by the church as they do in Clearwater and many other locales.
What is amazing about that is an organization that constantly promotes itself as “open to everyone” and “all are welcome” are SOOOO paranoid about SP’s walking in on them.
And yet these are the same people that argue long, loud and obnoxiously in court that sending individuals to someone’s HOME (not a location that advertises “come in for a tour” or “Come in for a free personality test”) with cameras on their heads and “Squirrelbuster” t shirts to “confront” Mark Rathbun is “Constitutionally protected free speech.” AND hiring PI’s who travel around with an arsenal in the back of their vehicle to spy on David Miscavige’s father at $10,000 per week is perfectly normal, religious behavior.
In truth, Mr. Tough Guy David Miscavige is a tremendous coward. He is afraid to appear in public. He is afraid to be interviewed by the media. He is afraid of “SP’s” who are behind every bush. He travels with armed guards in bulletproof vehicles and is screened from the public. And because I posted pictures of an org, there are now police “protecting” it is beyond laughable.
Scientology is becoming increasingly paranoid. And with every reaction they become the butt of more and more jokes.
Maybe it is time to make a tour of all the “ideal orgs” and post pictures on my blog. The Policeman’s Benevolent Society may even be willing to sponsor such a tour. Just look at the good money they stand to make in each stop…
thetaclear says
” Maybe it is time to make a tour of all the “ideal orgs” and post pictures on my blog.”
Actually, that would be, together with including the stats of each of them (compared to those from before they became “Ideal” Orgs) , the best strategy for the blog’s purpose so far.

You mean law enforcement in Tennessee is available to the highest bidder ?
I’m stunned.
Mike Rinder says
Paul — you don’t even have to be the highest bidder. Just pay the going rate. You go to the PD and they have a roster of officers who want to do off hours work and the rate is set by the PD. The PD is happy because they have more officers visible on the streets and they are not having to pay them. The cops love it as they get time and half or double time for off hours work (or even more) and all they do is sit around or direct traffic.

Thanks for this, Ron. I had some great experiences myself and saw the same for many others. But I saw the changing pattern and quietly exited in the early 80s. I still have some friends who are IN and who do not know that I am OUT. There was some very good stuff to be had at one time, despite the underlying insanity which has now come far out of the closet.

I have much contempt for Davey Psychopath Monsanto, but great respect for the tech and the Indies who are still using it to help people whether they are calling it Scn. or something else because it works for me if I apply it.
I was in the SO as a W/C for a short stint and I enjoyed working with some great auditors and CSs but management was just strange to me so I walked away without repercussions and later finished 5. Understanding and compassion for others were some of the abilities I acquired as a result of that training and auditing I received so I am grateful for that and I hope that the auditors I had aren’t getting too much shit for trying to do the right thing.
Having said that I am sometimes saddened by the hostility directed toward
the tech and lower echelon poor bastards in the mushroom cellars at the outer orgs. trying to keep it all together while “whats his fuck” is tearing it apart.
Some of you already know how Stockholm syndrome feels so I’m just saying,
encourage them to come out and maybe reintroduce them to normalcy 101.They are gonna need all the help they can get.

Did you see the pictures of the Valley Ideal Org that were posted at the Bunker?

Wow, I’ll bet cops have put their kids thru college piecing out with Scientology gigs.
Aquamarine says
Mike, you made my night with this Nashville Org update. Laughs and more laughs! You’re so dangerous, Mike! I wonder how the org paid for this police protection from Your Espiness, or if the money was wired immediately from Int. So funny, YCMTSU!

Miscavige’s behavior remind anyone else of a messianic figure who is now serving time . . . one Warren Jeffs? So utterly paranoid, “faiths” in a constant “lock down” position.
Idle Morgue says
Someone call the Nashville Police Department and tell them the going weekly rate the Church of Scientology pays out to off duty cops – $10,000 / week!!
Idle Morgue says
Well – at least the Church of Scientology Ideal Org’s are helping someone – COPS!
iamvalkov says
Just add “paying cops” to the list of COB’s overts.
John Locke says
Why iamvalkov? ALL kinds of business and churches “pay cops”. When I was going to a Catholic church they “paid cops” every Sunday for traffic control. (that was 45 years ago) In MANY large cities cops don’t get paid enough to live near where they work and are underpaid for their area and the Union had to fight tooth and nail to get cops permission to moonlight at all.

Fantastic! Keeping getting these guys to spend CoS money. More money flowing out = more desperate they will get to flow it IN. Good for the economy too. Money out of CoS coffers is money that these cops and others can spend in the local stores.

Oh please! We need more cops there at Nashville org. We need extra cops to police the three extra photoshopped floors.

Patented confront tech. The horse (no offense, Mike) has long left the barn. Time to seal it up tight (since the preferred method of burning it down is of course out of the question when it comes to this thriving org).

I am thinking for some time, it may be a worthwhile activity to have a bookstand with a copie of each book written about Scientology on the same street where they have “Stress test” and dianetics book stands. If the city allows their “stress test” nonsense it should be not a problem to get a permit for another information stand. When ever they show up, there will be an information stand with books about Scientology for sale. Let’s see how sells more copies? 🙂
If there are people that have time and find it fun to do, I am sure I can find financing for intitial inventory and equipment. It would not be an ideal org, if they had no info books stand. 🙂
iamvalkov says
Good idead! 🙂

Good idea, Gerhard. Sounds like a project for Jenny at LAX and friends.

I think jail time would be too kind for Miscavige. Too much protection. He needs to be send out into the real with no money and fend for himself. Watch the little maggot be terrified in fear. He wouldn’t know where run. Lol.

My father-in-law is a man of strong conservative Christian faith, and is very disturbed by any mention of witchcraft. I puzzle over this: surely if he believes in the almighty power of Christ, then why be so afraid of magic, spooks or demons?
Poison Dwarf’s terror of SPs seems quite similar, given the omnipotence that he ascribes to the Tech. Witness how, according to him, 95% of the upper strata of Scientology are SPs who somehow snuck past 25 years of sec checks etc. Similar to how most of the Bolshevik leaders who made the Revolution were shot as traitors by Stalin.
Perhaps there’s a law, that the flipside of grandiose delusions is paranoia about unstoppable enemies.

Does the church keep stats on the number of suppressive persons total? Has anyone ever seen these figures out here? What are guesses, 3 or 4 thousand? Just wondering.
McCarran says
Well, if there are 10,000,000 scientologists, then there are 9,750,000 suppressive persons. David Miscavige really does have a reason to be paranoid.

I really never have been suppressed before or since like I was while in those 35 years. It feels real good to see this now. I never could have done a proper un-biased look (as per the Doubt formula) at my life while in ~ It was designed to not happen. Crazy. I too love the idea of posting some current org shots. I was thinking there was a web site being set-up just for this, here is what I have bookmarked http://idleorgs.com/
Thanks all you commentors ~ I love the funnys 🙂
The Oracle says
Of course. The Church gets busted for fraud and the first thing they do is call the police to complain about someone else. Probably the photographer. That’s the way it rolls now. Any “good will” value the Church could have established, has been destroyed by David Miscavige. Just another way to covertly bankrupt the Church. He renovated the Int base into an elephant, that could be sold if needed as what? If California is evacuated the 8 million dollar office building he needed so he could “work”, the mansion he built for Hubbard, none of it flows for any special use purpose. He devalued it the entire time he sunk blood sweat and sacrifice of others into that weird plot of land with the fake castle and phony ship in the front yard.

What do you want to bet that, even though “the owner” of Scientology ordered the private cops, the locals (all 3 of them) have been reg’d to pay for it?

That is very likely. Or maybe Tom Cruise is paying, hell, he’s ‘paying’ to watch Ron Miscavage Sr. The profitability of many mOrgs is in severe trouble these days. Maybe the cops are there to keep bill collectors away?

When there’s a world-class SP in town, you can never be too careful. Well done Mike! (titter titter) Seriously? Do they understand how amazingly cowardly they are to freak out over one person taking a couple of photos of a supposedly public building?
Imagine, Mike, what your life (and your finances) would be like if you chose to hire cops every time someone hired by the COS took pictures of your house, your family, etc. etc. I’m sure they still do that on a daily basis, yet they feel obliged to hire police protection when someone turns the tables.
It makes me wonder why would they be so scared of someone doing something to them that they do to others…unless they when they do it, they do it with the intent to harm the others.
Jane Doe 2 says
Excellent article! All your points are so valid. Thanks for the pics and correspondent news. You’re right: what church has to hire policemen to keep people OUT? Most churches want people in, even the sinners, whom they can save.
NOLAGirl says
You make an excellent point. I can and have gone into a Catholic Church, sat down with the Reverend and discussed everything I had issue with in the Catholic Church. Not only did he openly discuss it with me, when I told him I had no interest in attending church, he smiled, hugged me (we know each other, he’s not a creep lol) and told me he’d pray for me.
I can still show up at his church anytime and there won’t be any cops outside the front door. And… *looks out the window*… no PI’s. 🙂

Hey, NG, you reminded me of my college days in a fairly small college town in Ohio. I’d regularly go and chat with a local minister whose precise protestant religion I can’t recall. I’d be walking down the street and he’d come by in a huge old Packard, his many children hanging out the windows, and he’d yell at me in a good natured way, “Hi, there, Atheist!” I’d laugh back to him. Absolutely friendly guy who would sit and talk with me for hours. I even went to some of his services since he was such a well spoken fellow.
Marc Headley (@blownforgood) says
The LAPD officers make so much money working for Scientology it makes sense not to turn against their employers. Off duty cops can make in upwards of $75/hr if they bring their bike & uniform. Just like when the Grammy heave their event in LA, Cops are hired for all these type of events. The big difference is that Scientology holds in upwards of 7-10 events per year. They have cops at all intersections around the block and sometimes a few inside the event. These cops are wined and dined while on the job and get a nice chunky paycheck on top of that. It used to be that that checks were paid directly to the officers the day of the event as part of the agreement.
If you figure that they get at least 10-20 cops for each event at least 7-10 times per year, you can see how much of the force depends on the scientology empire continuing on in order to make boat, vacation and or leisure payments each year.
When Anonymous were protesting at the Complex back in 2008 Ken Moxon was being chauferred around in LAPD vehicles watching the protesters. This went on for several hours.
Bottom line is that Scientology pay the police to be on their side wherever and whenever they can.
basketballjane says
Let’s see, for the CC Gala we would have at least 6 cops there on different sides of the property for two days. About 12 hours each day. So at $75 per hour per cop for 2 days that is . . . . . $10,800 for two days of work. Meanwhile the slaves working inside 12-15 hours a day, and there were 320 of us total then, made either $35 a WEEK or $50 a Week or $32.53 after taxes and $47.35 after taxes. So just under what they paid 320 staff members for a week for a two day event. Makes total sense.

I know as a never-in I could never begin to understand the burdens Captain David Miscavige labors under, but I just can’t get past this little puzzle. If every Enemy He makes costs His Religion $500k per year on average, why not spend a few million to avoid making Enemies in the first place? A penny saved is a penny earned, after all.
I’ve seen the question of “how many ‘Members Of The Church Of Scientology'” there are several times, but has anyone an estimate of “how many Enemies has Captain David Miscavige made”? Could that be His weekly stat? Should we start a headcount for Him?

“That one”
“Oh that. Isn’t that building only two storeys?”
“Shut up! Can you do it or not?”

Thomas Weeks says
True they are paranoid. When I picketed in front of the Denver Org in 2008, they called to police. Police came by and told them I wasn’t doing anything illegal. On that note, I would be funny to picket the org while the police are “guarding” it.
Mike Rinder says
They use PD vehicles when off duty. Especially the motorcycle cops.
thegman77 says
That’s illegal in many cities.
Mike Rinder says
Wasn’t aware of that. In Tampa, Clearwater and LA where I am most familiar, it is very standard practice.
Chee Chalker says
Can’t do that in Chicago. That is wear and tear on a city vehicle, paid for by the taxpayers. Citizens of Nashville, call your local govt rep. We should not be subsidizing David Miscavige’s paranoia.
Plus, it gives the impression that are on duty, acting in an official capacity.
RK says
They can use PD vehicles if they are contracted through the police department. We had to do this to get traffic control for a parade I helped organize. The officers are off-duty, meaning they are not currently on patrol, and the department gets a little revenue and the officers a little extra cash. 4-5 officers is a significant expense. Just a bizarre over-reaction.
whostolemycog says
What’s funny is the absurd waste in resources hiring special duty police where there is clearly no need for either crowd control, directing traffic, or threat security.
