I was struck how four cigarettes seem to be a major object of importance and value to these people. I assume they are members of the S.O.?
Their world seems to revolve around getting other people to give hundreds or thousands of dollars to the cult or it revolves around people who arrange for that to happen. All in all, their world must be a very (list of many bleak and depressing adjectives) place.
Yet none of them seem to toy with the idea of leaving the cult? Or do they just do that in secret?
Interesting that each of them seem to have one issue that is of real importance to them but is ignored by the others – like the cigarettes and the joking.
