This is the first part of the interview Claire Headley and I did with Mike Brown — former Sea Org member from the Int Base — about the abuse his elderly mother (Rosemary Brown Chicwak) endured in the Sea Org.
It is a long discussion because there is so much ground to cover. We will conclude the story on Thursday at 7pm EDT.
In this episode, I mentioned that I would post the names of the registrars (fundraisers) who took in excess of $160,000 from Rosemary in illegal schemes.
Here they are:
- Jason Hemphill – Commanding Officer of PAC Base (2012 – 2014), Current location unknown.
- Sandra Colon – Commanding Officer of PAC Base (2014 – 2018/19), now working in CLO WUS Estates Division doing manual labor.
- Sherri Bloomfield – LA Org Reg, now working in CLO WUS in the staff uniform sewing section.

All I have to say about this is thanks. Name them and shame them, publicly. This type of conduct can’t survive in the open. That video was such a punch in the gut. It’s just amazing what kind of horrors this organization can bring upon the people who believe in it while hiding under the governmental cloak of “religion.”
Jenna says
Never a doubt that a small group of dedicated people can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.

Is Jason Hemphill related to Josh Hemphill?
Free Minds, Free Hearts says
Wow. Thank you for this, and for all that you do at the Aftermath Foundation. I wish you could help my sister at Int Base. She is 72. But she doesn’t want to leave.
Karen Pressley says
I’m flabbergasted, outraged, horrified and angered after listening through to the end of this story. Many thanks to the amazing Mike Brown for all you’ve done to salvage your mom’s life and to expose Scientology’s criminality through this true story. I worked with Rosemary across the hall in Del Sol when she was ED Int’s secretary, and everything Mike said about her is true—she is the sweetest and most sincere person I met at the Int base and probably in the whole Sea Org. To know how she was exploited by Ronnie Miscavige and punished is over the top and bad enough. But then to learn how she was abused and exploited by the PAC regges and executives is mind-boggling. Many thanks to the Aftermath Fdn for being there and helping to save her, I feel deeply grateful for you and especially for Claire, I shared your tears. This horrendous true story has fired me up to do more to help people being exploited and abused, but especially to help bring Scientology to its knees where they belong, begging for mercy after Justice finally arrives at their doorstep. Love and thanks to Claire and Mike and SPTV for this video.

One million people sitting on the sidelines and clucking, “Tsk Tsk” about the cult’s elder abuse will not have hardly any effect compared to half a dozen people marching and demonstrating outside the L.A. Police HQ and carrying signs saying,
“Please help us stop the criminal cult of scientology from abusing our elders.”
They have abused our elders for their whole lives but once they become too old to collect money, they are tossed onto the garbage heap of humanity and left to die in pain and sorrow and loneliness.
Please pick up a sign and help us demonstrate.

Michael Kerner – Division 6A Secretary AOLA (Tours), now working in ASHO as a Call-in Reg to get public to come in for service.
This person must have plenty of free time on his hand. I can’t imagine there are too many people that will take his call
SMoore says
I guess the “valuable partner” to the LAPD can get away with elder abuse with impunity in that jurisdiction. When will they get their heads out of their asses?
Mike_Rinder_Fan says
Only when people gather together outside the LA Police HQ and demonstrate against this Elder Abuse. They need to march and carry signs.
They need to chant slogans against the Elder Abuse.
IMHO, that is the only way things will begin to change.
Just think back and remember how the war in Viet Nam was put to an end. It was because the administration could not bear to see thousands of people carrying signs and demonstrating outside the Capitol building. Nothing else will have as much effect as that.

Gosh, what a surprise!
Sarasota Jerry says
This was a riveting and horrific story. Thank you for continuing to shine a light on this criminal organization.
Chris Shugart says
No wonder Scn is shrinking. They have to keep removing their criminals and stash them away and out of sight. Who does that leave to do their dirty work? One would at least hope that at some point they’re going to run out of devious, unscrupulous staff who possess the gall to carry out the church’s atrocities.
Dead Man Talking Bill Straass says
That’s the cure for sure.
David MisCadaver McScrooge says
Care to guess what happens to elderly sea org members when they die from old age?
The decision on what to do with the dead bodies is governed by the prime directive, “Spend as little money as possible. Spending zero would be best.”
So … what to do with a dead body if you don’t want to pay a penny?
I suppose you could try to give the bodies to some medical school that would use them as cadavers. But I would guess any reputable med school would insist on some legal documents – including a death certificate – before they would ever accept a dead body.
But if the prime directive is in full force, they could always get a bunch of potatoes and distill some ethyl alcohol for themselves. Then, they could take a gallon of ethyl alcohol and douse the body in that to make it appear the dead person was a wino.
They could then take the body somewhere in downtown L.A. known as a common place for down and out alcoholics and just dump the body near the side of the row. The total cost would likely be under $10.
What do you think? The cult would spend $10 in return for a lifetime of service. Is that cheap enough for you?
I’m reminded of a saying that I saw here a few days ago.
“When it comes to this cult, the truth is always worse than you think.”
So I guess $10 would be too much money to spend on someone who gave their life in service.
Would anyone have a better idea that would cost less to dispose of a body?
Maybe they could just dump the bodies behind the police station and make an anonymous call to the police explaining it was the cult and they have an “arrangement” with the police so they can get away with anything.
Still …. there must be a cheaper way to dispose of a body. Can anyone guess of a way to dispose of a body that would cost less than $10?

Goodness me! What an incredibly shattering account of criminal conspiracy. Just lost for words on the cc fraud, and to do to the elderly women in their twilight years. It’s very hard to remain composed when it sinks in. Best of luck Rosemary and well done Mike for being a great son. I really hope you get justice served asap.
As far as Scientology practices like this go, words don’t come easy through the outrage and anger. I will say this though: It is willful criminality. People that willfully misapply the trust & personal financial data of others to commit premeditated fraud to assist supposedly themselves at the expense of others are criminally insane. They have a church where they have banded together for collective personal extinction, and they want to take as many people as they can along with them. The name of this church is of course, the Church of Scientology.
David MisCadaver McScrooge says
Remember how the war in Viet Nam came to an end?
Do you think that SOB Nixon was moved because of his belief in right and wrong and the morality of sending poor kids to fight and die while rich kids went to university and attended frat parties?
No. Nothing much will be done about elder abuse until large crowds of people picket outside the LA police HQ and carry signs calling for the end to elder abuse and the end to this stinking cult.
People in LA need to get together and demonstrate outside the police HQ. That will have a bigger effect that almost anything else ever will.
Yawn says
Yes, I agree that if something like this is going to be truly stopped, it will come from public exposure & pressure, not from official channels originating to stop it.
This video is a good step in the right direction.
DDK says
I watched the interview last night, it left me in tears ! I just hope something is going on behind the scenes to hold these people accountable. Where is the California department of elderly protection? This is elderly abuse at the highest level through financial fraud, substandard living conditions, inadequate food, poor medical care and just abject neglect. Being a “church” with the protections of that designation is not an excuse!
LAPD needs to finally step up to the plate and prove they are not the lapdogs of COS !
otherles says
During Army Infantry Basic Training in the spring of 1982 the absolute first thing that was taught was “The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero.” What has to be understood is that there is no such thing as a valid excuse.
Geoff says
There are a number of people living in the LA area that appear to have stolen money. Maybe you can send this to the LA PD chief that doesn’t believe Scientology has done anything wrong.
Susan Ward says
Interesting that most of them are now doing manual labor. And there are so many.
Love hearing the stories of the Aftermath Foundation”s successes.
So glad to have you back Mike.
