Regraded Being November 24, 2017 By Mike Rinder 76 Comments Sorry, we experienced some unexpected technical difficulty with RB, exacerbated by the holiday. So, I have resurrected one of my favorite earlier editions. Hopefully everything will be back to normal next week. Share this...FacebookPinterestTwitterLinkedin
Good cartoon, Regraded Being.
“…we’re turning them into a bunch of delusional, vainglorious idiots…”
OUCH.. Does this nail it, or what?
Hats off to you, RB. I missed this acutely accurate phrase last time.
Enjoy your bad self this weekend.. We luvya, baby!
And, in fairness, neither Miscavige’s Nazi Youth nor older longterm SO staff can lay full claim to operating in this unfortunate state. Virtually all non-SO Org staff remaining year after year as well as long term public have been and/or still are “delusional, vainglorious idiots”. I knew lots of Scientologists like this, including myself, unfortunately.
Dave F. says
While I had some free time this Thanksgiving week, I have saved every “Regraded Being” you have posted on the Blog, since October 9, 2014 . . .
The result, including today’s offering totals 633 pages, stored both as a 200 MB WORD document and a 119 MB PDF file.
My intention is to archive ALL of them, as they come out.
Some gullible younger scientologists have really bought into all that crap, at least for awhile. (They always wake up at some point).
That is why when COB has his photo taken he fiercely gazes into the camera lens, pretending he has some secret powers as a big being. I always get a kick out of those ridiculous images. He is bullshitting himself while he bullshits some bullshit sniffers in the lower ranks of scientology.
OTs are supposed to be free from the afflictions that lesser mortals must suffer through. Yet, all of the OTs out there continue to get colds, flus, headaches, diarrhea, and any normal human maladies that effect us all. They know it, we know it… why keep carrying on the absurd charade?
It becomes really frustrating after a while when they keep refusing to show their OT powers.
this made me cry. I can’t even imagine what that moment of realization is/was like for the escapees. (the words “church” and “escapees” should really never, ever have to be used in the same sentence. then again, “church” and “scientology” shouldn’t be used together either.)
Mike, your courage, along with Leah and all the victims that have come forward is just remarkable. that you all have such big hearts – such human hearts…the generosity of spirit to save whomever you can after all that you’ve all been through….amazing.
you all set a wonderful example, not just as survivors seeking justice, for all that have been so very hurt by this abomination of an institution, but as what we all should be in our daily lives. help each other, be kind to each other, and treasure the families and relationships we have. being grateful that so many of us are able to walk in the sun, when others desperately need a light to erase the dark that surrounds them.
Rebecca Goodrich says
Vainglorious is the perfect word for this topic!
Christine E Guers says
Love this lol, I do have to Thank you & Leah for all your doing to inform the public about Scientology, I don’t miss an episode the more people that understand this Mike, will finally realize what the CULT is all about.. It is heartbreaking at time to see how these children are doing hard labor and you both are getting the word out to all of us & to those that are still there.. I really believe they are finally seeing the light about what this CULT is doing.. God Bless you & Leah for doing these shows..
Wow people really believe this stuff???????
I Yawnalot says
That’s affirmative. Knew one particular guy (there were others, in fact most Scios go through a phase of it to some degree, but he was particularly whacko) in the academy way back who was just like that. He was scary to be honest, not funny. He honestly believed it and that’s all he wanted to talk about. I refused to twin with him on anything, as he turned everything into space opera and other nonsensical gibberish. Tiny Tim’s, “Tiptoe through the Tulips,” was probably his theme song.
Until you experience it up close & personal you don’t kind of believe it’s possible. But when you do see it, it gets scary real and all you want to do is get away from it as fast as you can.
If my memory still holds, there was a GPM implant on OT2 that was called the “Big Being GPM” . DM and TC have said of themselves as being Big Beings. Just wondering if it is a true implant, or they did not run it flat, or if they overran it, or if lotsa Sea Ogres are dramatizing it, or…or,,,,……………. it could also simply be something from Hubbard’s delusional universe?
Interesting label on the wine bottles.
Henry Syfert says
Furgeta Bautit ! Thats hilarious.
CO$ Money Doc says
“Delusional vainglorious idiots” – certainly a more appropriate SO tag line than “we keep coming back”! Or maybe “we keep coming back as deluded, vainglorious idiots”… Truthful, though lacks a certain panache! ?
Ed Barrington says
the print is so small and volumous it takes two hours to print larger and read….message lost just my feeling
but still worthwhile work
Just click on the picture and you’ll get larger image.
Hey, I just learned something very useful! Hover the mouse over the image and click to blow stuff up. Duh, I’ve been using Command + + to blow it up. Didn’t work on the above, but I clicked the mouse on it and vwa la, it blew up to readable size. Worked with my Mac, don’t know about windows.
LRH came up with better Tech for this kind of thing. It will all be revealed in OT IX.
Dave F. says
OT-IX is the start of the “new series” on the Bridge . . .
When you reach OT-XV, that is the point when you finally realize what a SCAM Scientology is and what a FOOL you have been for ALLOWING yourself to be put through all of the STRESS, TORTURE, and BRAINWASHING, for all those YEARS !
Python Swoope says
Click on each panel individually and they become readable…..and Yes we need to “drain that swamp”! (Using IMac)
hold control and zoom with mouse wheel. Then zoom out. Don’t tax yourself! <3
Peter Norton says
I used to be able to just double click on the first of the panels and it would expand for easy vision. Then, moving my cursor to the right center of the panel and clicking, the next panel would come up, already enlarged. For some reason, the ability to do that simply disappears some weeks back. Now I have to double click each one to make it expand. 🙁
But this particular one I’ve not seen before, so no harm done. 🙂
I have experienced the same. Earlier, there was some (wordpress?) feature to enlarge the images comfortably to browser window size and to flip through them with arrow buttons. It’s probably been lost when re-using older RB posts.
Rebecca Goodrich says
If you click on View I think you can enlarge without having to print.
Tammy Clark says
That is Great! Good laugh.
Bonnie Johnson says
This is for real? They really think this kind of stuff? Talk about living in an alternate universe!
yep. Think is the operative word. You don’t actually talk too much about it because it’s “talking about your case” or “verbal data”. So you think it and think everyone else thinks it.
Although, I have often heard the expression, “rerun” – some Scio dad telling me that he’s sure his kid is “a rerun” because of how able/smart/on source they are. In other words, they are a “past lifer”, someone who was on the bridge last life.
“You don’t actually talk too much about it because it’s “talking about your case” or “verbal data”. So you think it and think everyone else thinks it.”
So basically you can’t talk about your problems with anyone?? Your spouse? With a buddy over a beer (not that you could afford to buy a beer on S.O. pay). Another layer of the onion peeled for me. Scientology: the non-stop horror highway.
Mike Maddux says
El Con Tubbolard. The American Fascist Cult leader.
Will Shakespeare (speaking with prescience): “The myriad mounds of withholds, missed and partial, doth speak loudest in accusation, verily!”
Foolproof, this has to be the stupidest thing you’ve wrote here. And that is saying something. Don’t tell me you really believe in withholds ? Common sense is lacking in you .Start thinking for yourself. And get out of the fraud l cons mind fuck.Man I feel sorry for you and any family that has to put up with you.
FP is just a bot trying to get a rise out of someone to create a distraction. It’s family are those still in the cult.
Of course this is speculation on my part!
Dark Avenger says
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
You have cut and pasted this before.
No no, you are already terribly distracted.
And seemingly my family is now a target for attempted jibes or invective? I thought this was a family-oriented blog?
Would it also not be fair to say that Wynski’s comment was “trying to get a rise out of someone to cause a distraction”?
Seems humor is frowned upon, but of course I mentioned the magic word “withholds” and that always causes a reaction! So withholds don’t exist eh? Try telling that to all the police forces in the world, law courts, insurance adjusters, the Catholic church, in fact most religions where “sin” is mentioned, er, well the list could go on and on but I think you, or rather others reading this, will have the idea by now, not that they didn’t know it beforehand, unlike you seemingly? As to my family, no they love me – “clean hands make a happy life”, after all. As you’ve broached the subject of families I would be very worried about you if I was one of your family members. “Withholds don’t exist” – indeed! I’ve heard a few but that one takes the prize!
Next you’ll be asking me what are my crimes. Good lord. Overts and withholds as described by l Ron Do not exist in the real world. If someone does evil to you Its not because you were going to do evil to them first. That is a big load of shit. LOL.
I am impressed webber – you got something right although you didn’t mean to. I don’t know where you got the idea that “If someone does evil to you Its [not] because you were going to do evil to them first”, “as described by Ron”. Now where is this passage by Ron then? There is nowhere in Scientology that states that. In fact Hubbard explicitly states that Karma or the Overt-Motivator Sequence doesn’t really exist, it is only a specious agreement – there is no fact or “natural law” behind such. Of course if you agree to it then there goes the old ball game. When you ascribe something to Hubbard please try to be correct about it.
So it seems now you actually meant the Overt-Motivator Sequence, not the fact of the existence of overts and withholds?
Foolproof, just because a Scientology definition or concept such as “withholds” may overlap with legitimate real-world phenomenon, doesn’t mean that it is a legitimate definition or application itself. People may, for instance, have traumatic memories that affect them – but that doesn’t mean that they are “engrams,” a concept Hubbard used (like most everything, significantly plagiarized, without due credit, from earlier ideas) that has been scientifically debunked.
One of Hubbard’s tricks was to expand or change the accepted meaning of words. Early on, he even admitted it is a tool of manipulation and control – see what he wrote about “redefinition of words,” such as:
“A long term propaganda technique used by socialists (Communists and Nazis alike) is of interest to PR practitioners.”
PeaceMaker, witholds exist. Its a valid concept. Its perhaps the Scientlology lingo that upsets you.
Example: I have my own business plus a 2nd job wherein I work for someone doing admin like filing, answering phones, and other Gal Friday type work.
My own business has been really busy for the past few months and the filing in my salaried 2nd job has suffered. Meaning,I had ‘t done ANY of it. I really let it go. My salaried job boss is a very trusting, non-helicopter type. He trusts me to get things done.
I appreciate that trust but since late September I’d let the filing go because I was so busy in my own business, which, by the way, benefited him, but that’s beside the point.
The other day a certain document was needed by him Urgently. He charged to the file where it was supposed to be and of course it wasn’t there..
He blew up. He needed it IMMEDIATELY., really needed it. I knew why he needed it and didn’t blame him at all for being upset..
I professed to not know where it was but I knew damned well where it was – in a BAG I had hidden way under my desk so that I could keep it out of sight whilst I PRE-sorted it so that I could properly file AFTER HOURS.
But I didn’t want him to yell at me and worry, or, God forbid, see this large bag of papers – I mean, no way! and since I KNEW where this doc HAD TO BE i waited until he stormed across the hall to his office and proceeded to surrepticiously go thru thru this bag of diverse “to be filed” dox, found what he needed and brought it over to him and told him it had been “misfiled” which was of course a lie because it hadn’t been filed at all…
He was quite happy and relieved to get it and thanked me, and I thanked God and the angel over my shoulder that had given me this REPRIEVE and this WARNING to get the hell going on the filing back log…
THAT, PeaceMaker, is a WITHOLD 🙂 Call, it whatever you like 🙂
And, PS: its Saturday night, and guess what I’m doing?
And guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow until its done? 🙂
Another PS: Some day I’ll tell him the truth. It will be safe someday. He pays me a salary but we’re also long time business acquaintances and friends, too. So some day I’ll be able to tell him what I did and why, ,and I know him, he’ll laugh. Like me, he doesn’t hold onto things. We’ll both laugh about it. But that’s in the future. Not yet 🙂 Certainly not before I get this filing done. And to that end, good night everyone 🙂
Dave F. says
Better wait until AFTER you’re retired . . . You can’t be FIRED then !
I get the analogy. However, I can’t see how your particular situation at work is similar to so-called “withholds” in $cientology.
Aren’t $cientology-type “withholds” supposed to be centered around the assumption that a person first committed an “overt” (something supposedly very bad) and is subsequently hiding it (withholding it)? Isn’t a withhold supposed to be some kind of transgression against a moral code?
And don’t $cientologists believe that people who do these things are bad people or have “crimes” or can’t be trusted…or some such nonsense?
Clearly, you did what you did at work because you were overwhelmed with other work, not because you wanted to hide anything or because you first committed a “bad act”. It’s not like you were trying to cover up some sinister act or trying to deceive anyone. Is that not accurate?
A withold is just something a person DID that HE o rSHE thinks, believes or knows was wrong,or harmful to someone or something,(called in Scientology an “overt act” ) that this person is hiding, not revealing.
A withold is not itself an overt.
A person can commit an overt and reveal it. That’s not a withold.
An overt becomes a withold by a person’s not revealing the truth about having done the overt.
Now, you said, “Clearly, you did what you did at work because you were overwhelmed with other work, not because you wanted to hide anything or because you first committed a ‘bad act'”.
See, that’s true. And its also not true. I have been really busy with my own business. On the other hand, there were any number of nights in the past several months when I could have been catching up on the filing wherein I was instead doing something else…like posting on this blog 🙂
So, its Mike Rinder’s fault, really, for getting me addicted…:)
Ha Ha, Mike, Ok, to continue:
There are DEGREES of seriousness with regard to overts and withholds. Some are more serious than others.
And by the way these are just NAMES for things. Don’t get caught up in what things are CALLED. The name is not the thing.
What I did was not that serious because I was LUCKY.
But it could have been serious.
He needed that document to prove that he had done something mandated by the government, which, if he couldn’t prove it, would have cost him money.
If I hadn’t been here to give him the doc that wasn’t in the file he would have been wrongfully inconvenienced and unfairly penalized by the government AND fined, all because he needed a document he rightly expected to be in the file.
If any of this had happened, i would have felt AWFUL.
But it didn’t. I was lucky. And I’m GRATEFUL.
Which is why I’m still in the office freaking filing at midnite on a Saturday nite 🙂
Hope this helps 🙂
Everybody should calm down. The phrase from Shakespeare’s Hamlet spoken by Queen Gertrude, “The lady doth protest too much, methinks”. She’s just viewed a play staged by her son Hamlet in which a queen resembling herself whose husband the king has just been slain is protesting how much she loves him and will always love him and how she’ll never ever marry again, which is what Queen Gertrude did immediately after her first husband, Hamlet’s father, died. Hamlet suspects his mother and step father of having killed his father. He puts on this play to purposely stimulate what he feels sure are the guilty consciences of his mother and step father. His idea is to make them both very uncomfortable while watching this play.
Dave F. says
Time to pass out the “Chill Pills”, so we can all get back to destroying Scientology in the most efficacious manner possible !
This line is almost always misquoted, as “methinks the lady doth protest too much” suggesting that she is strongly denying something & hiding the truth. That is not the case in the play. The queen is saying that the Queen in the play is simply being too effusive.
That’s right! She says the character is being too effuse in her repeated assertions of love for her dead husband.
Yes, it has NOTHING to do with “withholds”.
“Will” Shakespeare, is it? Did you hang with him at the Globe in one of your past lives?
Well, yes I do – in fact I seem to remember you blowing your trumpet albeit off-key as usual, there as well!
Do you really think you hung out with Shakespeare in a past life or was that a joke?
I seem to remember you as being the leading lady in Macbeth! No, I was just in the audience after I landed my space ship on the Thames on a night off from race car driving on Marcab. Honest injun!
I remember the audience though throwing rotten fruit and tomatoes at the trumpet player- he was constantly sounding bum notes!
Dave F. says
You said, ” No, I was just in the audience after I landed my space ship on the Thames on a night off from race car driving on Marcab. Honest injun! ”
Were you on a “double date” with Xenu ?
Katherine, Foolproof is pulling your leg.
Mike, sorry. After entering the above replies I will try and stick to the discussions on purely technical stuff and ignore the insults to Hubbard etc., if you will allow me to do so. (But the reply on “withholds don’t exist” is (now) a technical comment, but as I say I will resist the urge to counter like with like, otherwise.)
I Yawnalot says
Not enough holiday time perhaps, it affects people differently. Life at times is slipping sideways from this blog and is being replaced with something meaningless by some being so focused on avoiding the use of manners. It’d be nice if honey were preferred to vinegar sometimes. Just sayin’.
Haha! True Yawn, but sometimes I get fed up with being sprayed, nay, hosed, with vinegar, purely because it is “Foolproof” that is posting something although what then do I expect with some of my pro-Scientology remarks being thrown in to a forum where many are anti-Scientology – and they may or may not have good reasons to be anti-Scientology, which I also grant. I must work on my own originations and make them more honey-like (although then am I not being 1.1? Another haha!)
I Yawnalot says
OK, whatever… This seems like such a strange place to wear the double triangle.
Dave F. says
“double triangle” ???
Dave F. says
I had to Google the “double triangle” . . .
This was interesting, too . . .
I Yawn —
Some will never stop wearing it, unfortunately. Quite sad.
I realize you think Hubbard was some great person who came up with valuable contributions.
Having said that, how is it that you can’t seem to understand — or simply don’t like — why so many ex-Scientologists and critics insult him?
Mountains of evidence prove he was a pathological liar, a bigamist, a criminal, an abuser, self-absorbed in the worst way, obsessed with power and money, a con artist …etc, etc, etc.
Doesn’t it seem even a little logical that people would insult him based upon the overwhelming evidence of his character and actions?
This is a sincere question.
Because you are criticizing the man and perhaps hoping thereby to denigrate the technology that he invented, which works a treat and helps people. There is this assumption that Hubbard came into this life and started off in 1949 as an angel or as an OT – but he was a human being who picked his nose and went to the toilet and didn’t clean his teeth and had several marriages etc. etc. etc., but who then went about discovering or observing life and then inventing processes that made life more livable for others. Many of your comments are generalities and assumptions, as well. But why are you here? Why is Hubbard the target of your venom and insults? Why not say, Trump or Mugabe? That is the question you must answer – for yourself.
As to any aspersions as to the technology I usually find that people’s statements are based on their complete misunderstanding of that which they are complaining about, or have read someone else stating whatever it is and simply repeating it. Nearly every post I make is more or less to do with this factor.
There is nothing I would like better than if most of the complaints on here about what the Church has undertaken administratively, had not occurred and I mostly am in full agreement about such complaints – things such as donations, harsh ethics, reg rip-offs etc. If the Church had concentrated on delivering its services purely then all would have been fine, or better anyway.
Dave F. says
You said, “Because you are criticizing the man and perhaps hoping thereby to denigrate the technology that he invented, which works a treat and helps people. ”
END QUOTE :
If you were referring to the “E-Meter”, which was invented in the 1940’s . . .Hubbard DID NOT invent it . . .
He STOLE the invention and, in 1966, filed a PATENT on it in his own name . . .
QUOTE : ” According to Hubbard’s son Ronald: “My father obtained the rights to the E-meter in1952 from Volney Mathison in the same manner that he does everything – through fraud and coercion.” END QUOTE:
*More ” Stolen GLory” by LRH !
THIS is what the “E-Meter” REALLY is . . .
The truth exposes Hubbard for EVERYTHING he was, and what Scientology CONTINUES to be !
Again, this is nonsense and you have bent the facts to suit your cloth. No one has ever said Hubbard invented the Wheatstone Bridge. But did anyone ever interpret the readings of this particular type of Wheatstone Bridge, producing books and courses etc. as to how it could be used to interpret what goes on in a person’s mind when used by a trained auditor. Where are all these explanations from other sources than Hubbard – they don’t exist do they? Get your facts right before you spout your stuff.
Dave F. says
I wonder who has MORE “Acronyms”, Scientology or NASA ?
Without reading your links, I would say Scientology has probably more acronyms, most of which I know. I hope you are not an “acronyist” or there is some sort of anti-acronyism going on?
“Challenging people out of session as ‘having withholds’ is illegal.”
LRH, HCOB 2 Jan 71, Illegal Auditing.
Yep, I often stated this HCOB to certain Execs. But there is a long story on this…
But is this not interesting – you use an Hubbard HCOB to try and make a point and on the other hand usually decry other information contained in HCOBs? Make up your mind.
No MORON (aka Foolproof) mwesten is calling YOU out as a hypocrite. Quite correctly too.
I’m trying to work out what, if any, aspects of scientology you apply here, in your written comm? You appeared to agree, at least in part, that perhaps you weren’t setting a good example of a peaceful, spiritually enlightening brand of scientology, yet 1) you persist with these puerile challenges/putdowns, 2) you don’t answer questions, and 3) you disregard key scn teaching. Do you seriously believe you are a good advert for scientology?
Ps. I am still waiting for your “empirical evidence” re https://www.mikerindersblog.org/more-on-past-lives-real-or-imagined/#comment-200928 (my TR3 is exceptional, btw)
