When “attacks” were ongoing in the 60’s, Hubbard did what he so often did, issued a policy to try to turn down the heat.
The infamous “Cancellation of Fair Game” use of the term but not of the practice PL is the most well-known example:
Shortly after this, he also issued an unequivocal cancellation of disconnection.
This was in response to a government inquiry that had begun into scientology in New Zealand. He wrote to the inquiry a few months later, stating that he had canceled disconnection and it would not be reinstated.
Of course, once the heat died down, disconnection was restored as a scientology practice — even though “we can now handle all types of cases.”
There are dozens and dozens, perhaps hundreds or even thousands, of instances of Hubbard proclaiming something to be a fact that is then reversed when it was no longer convenient. It is a common theme from the earliest days of Dianetics.

The politicians and mainstream media know about the cult’s evil lies, they just choose to let them get away with their crimes. They count on obscurity. As long as the public doesn’t really care, the cult’s money and their lawyers will decide what happens.

Mike,
Just finishing up your audio book. Your story is so courageous and mind blowing. I’ve been a big fan since I saw you in Going Clear. You as well as many others do many great things to help the victims of this terrible organization. Though these victims may not always get justice in a legal sense the fact that you’re helping them release the chains scientology has on them speaks volumes. Keep up the good work!
Mike Rinder says
Thank you do much!

Ms. B. Haven,
Jason Beghe was totally correct. Even if a clear is made, the state is later deleted even if it was originally bestowed by the highest ranked C/S at the Mecca of Tech Perfection.
So, yes, it is TRULY all about the money. NOTHING else whatsoever. So, so glad I wised up and kicked the cult to the curb.
Ms. B. Haven says
Glenn, there are no ‘clears’, only ‘clear’ certificates. Same goes for ‘OT’ levels. There are no ‘OTs’ or ‘OT’ abilities that can be demonstrated, only ‘OT’ certificates. That’s some mighty expensive paper. At least the IAS doesn’t promise you anything for your hard earned cash being regged into their war chest. That doesn’t mean you know where the money goes or what it’s being used for but at least there is no case gain promised. When it’s all said and done, a person would be better off just flushing their money down the toilet rather than give it to the cult. At least you’d know where the money went.

Ms. B,
The process of scientological indoctrination warps and damages its adherents, with increased cognitive and emotional debilitation happening the longer they subject themselves to it.
The “tech” is an utter mind-fuck-as it was designed to be(nod to Crowley)!
Ms. B. Haven says
Mark, you’ve been AWOL for a bit. Good to see your snarky self back here.

Hello there!
Yeah, it’s been a minute since I’ve sniffed around the Hubfart Turd Pool…
Hope you and yours are well. Ditto Mike Rinder and his loved ones.
And, as always, a hearty and passionate “fuck you” to Miss Savage McRavage and his crew of intergalactic criminal fuckwits!
Snarky McSparky, over and out!✌🏽

The reintroduction of disconnection was one of the fundamental reasons for the self-destruction of scn.
It’s like using a bulldozer on an apple tree each time to pick just a couple of apples.

Wow, in 1968 the ol’ Grifter says “Since we can now handle all types of cases…” What an amazing statement. The problem is no case has ever been handled. The only thing the cult has handled is LOTS of money saying that they could handle all types of cases. To paraphrase Jason Beghe, “show me one mother fucking clear”.
