From the scientology.org website, the conclusory statement of the new story about the magnificence of the Bogota ideal org:
This is simply a lie.
Bold, unapologetic and flatly untrue, this is scientology at its worst. Practicing the oft-quoted Hitler “Big Lie” technique:
A big lie is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.” (Wikipedia)
Let’s break down their statement.
The greater expansion during the past decade is measured by “openings” (as in “more is on the way, with openings in the coming year planned…)
Of course, this means that “scientology expansion” is measured by only one metric. Newly renovated and restored buildings that are “opened” (and no doubt included in that is the SP building which took 15 years to build).
Take this assertion at it’s absurd face value and 2014/2015 have been the WORST years of “scientology expansion” since the start of the “ideal org” program in 2003.
So, that is part 1 of the Big Lie. Bogota and Basel in 2015. Sydney in 2014. I have documented this previously. See The Big Ideal Org Lie.
Part 2 of the Big Lie In. There are LESS scientology churches, missions and Social Betterment entities now than in 2003. This period has seen the greatest loss of scientology organizations in its history. Through the 80’s it increased every year. Stagnant during the 90’s. And declining since. Celebrity Centers that used to stand alone have been combined with orgs. Day and Foundation orgs have been combined. SHF disappeared altogether. So did ASHO Fdn. The “model” “SH size” ideal org announced with great fanfare by David Miscavige in 2010 was such a failure that 200 Sea Org members were sent to “take over”, the “model, ideal” staff were all fired and the Fdn Org was closed down.
There has not been a NEW scientology church opened anywhere in the world since Kaohsuing Taiwan in 2008. The only other NEW scientology organizations opened anywhere in the world in the last 20 years are in former Soviet controlled cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg and Budapest. There has been one new scientology org opened in the United States in Inglewood — a PR gimmick that has remained virtually empty since the day it opened.
Meantime, buildings that were purchased sit empty and rotting all over the world, many with unpaid utilities and tax bills. From Bulawayo to Capetown, Montreal to Chicago and Kansas City to Philadelphia scientology is known in many cities for its empty, decaying buildings.
The number of Missions has shrunk drastically to. High profile missions opened and sponsored by celebrities Jenna Elfman, Anne Archer and Lisa Marie Presley come and gone in a blaze of hype. The “mission” in Tampa opened and closed almost immediately. Missions in Los Angeles have shut their doors and “combined” with others, yet there are 7 “ideal orgs” in the area. Overhyped missions in India and Thailand, Pakistan and the Philippines have quietly shut their doors — no longer “bringing hope to entire nations.”
There are no new Narconons opened, though a lot of hype about buying “new buildings” and Narconons closed around the world.
Yet, this is the hype Miscavige promised when the “ideal org” program began, taken from the Int Scn News 9 page recounting of his brilliant new “Golden Age of Organization” strategy:
Not a single thing about this plan has come true. The so-called “ideal orgs” have not generated new missions or activities around them. Not a single one, anywhere.
So, the ONLY way the statement at the top could be true is if scientology is strictly a real estate investment scheme.
Which IS about all it is.
That is not a tax-exempt 501(c)3 religious organization.
Hell, it isn’t even a church.
Or a religion.
Unless it is the religion of the worship of money.
Oh. Snap.

Is it remotely possible to get someone covertly placed inside to get some real video proof of DM bitching and bitch slapping his staff about the fails? Then, accidentally put up this video during one of their gatherings so the folks can see and hear the real truth straight from the horse’s mouth.
I have happy fantasies about that happening some day.
There are huge similarities between Hitler and Miscavige, between Nazi policy and Scientology policies..And mostly I see a striking resemblance in the End Game.
It’s all about how you measure ‘expansion’. It seems that CoS is measuring it by area, as in square footage of property available to serve the greater goal of clearing the planet. I suppose that’s valid, although it seems rather static.
If the goal is to clear the planet, which I think means ‘ensure all humans on the planet are Clear’, I’d think a more natural metric would be to count of how many people are clear compared to how many people are on the planet.
My take is that CoS uses the first definition (square footage) because it’s both a more positive metric than the second definition (number of clears), and because it’s easier to show progress. In short, it’s probably easier to buy a building than to recruit new members to fill it up.
Also because they are losing 47X more Clears than they’re gaining thanks to GAT II Tech.
This is off-topic, but an interview that Laura Prepon gave to Celebrity magazine was leaked online by a fan Instagram account, and it’s popping up all over the web…Laura’s quotes, including calling scientology the “magic” that has made her such a successful actress, are being universally mocked in the coverage, especially in the reader comments accompanying the articles…scientology is truly, officially, permanently seen as a joke!!
Comparisons to private naked pictures of yourself going viral. This isn’t good for Laura and she knows it. I’m afraid to say in Hollywood today some people have to stay in the closet and it’s not the gays.
Here you go. The comments are scathing.

I Googled, “the Church of Scientology denies” @ About 474,000 results (0.62 seconds).
I have not commented here for a long while, and never often. I am not nor have ever been a scientologist(I say this with all my comments haha) but am very against human rights violations and cult brainwashing, especially in kids.(say that every time too lol)…so I guess what I want to say here is keep it up Mike…you just keep on chippin away with truth…and it absolutely has to get under the skin of Slappy let him die buttheaded Miscavige…love this blog
I used to think Scientology was ‘The Shit’ now I know its just shit. sigh….
Dave,
Updates:
Lee Baca has now been deposed. Will he blabber about you (and Shelly) just for laughs and entertainment?
Also, since dealing a blow to the enemy camp, Megyn has risen to #1 in the ratings. Greta is melting down, like the wicked witch.
Have a good Thursday at 2pm. How are you stats, long term?
So “Ideal” never worked and now its “CENTRAL” is the way to go.
What a bunch of off policy cretins of the highest order.
I can imagine how the whales are now shitting bricks as the “Central regges” start dialing with command intention.
You could not have Scientology more off policy and out tech if you tried.
One has to hand it to COB he doesn’t do small F***-ups he does the mother off all F***-ups
Central and Ideal are interchangeable.
“…many with unpaid utilities and tax bills…”
If you look at the history of the crime syndicate, when the bills were overwhelming the crooks would have an “accidental” fire at their business office, getting them out of the rent that was due and ending all their debts. In fact the crooks for a 10 year segment there had so many fires that a web site was created in the mid 1990s dedicated to covering them.
Chapter 10 of Mein Kampf is the Big Lie Theory in total.
Gat 3 most likely public will recite it backwards staring at a wall.
True Nazi’s had to know the Birthdays of all the Top Nazis or face being accused of being a Jew. Just like GAT PTSP course you have to get a pass on cross examination of Scientology Holidays or if you don’t, it’s the Hole for you !!!!!
When you tell the truth it becomes your past,
when you tell a Lie it becomes your future !!
Are you serious about the holidays on the pts/sp checksheet? I’ve been away from any academy for awhile. Sounds like it’s getting much worse.
I had never heard that last sentence in any context before. That is absolutely brilliant. Thank you!
All so very true and well pointedly outlined out Mike! About the only thing keeping these shenanigans barely afloat is donation donation donation, and wholesale CSing to donate again some more to redo your lower Bridge. And the sheeple keep on sheepling… well, until they can’t.
Another part of the “big lie” – you mentioned that there were more churches every year through the eighties? Well, kinda, sorta, but not really. Most of these new orgs had been missions. And why were they not missions anymore?
Not due to some amazing expansion where they passed the requirements to become orgs, I am afraid. Generally, these places had been doing better, some much better, when they were missions, but were in trouble now. Church management of the missions has always been minimal – without church “management” many had thrived.
But the slow smothering of missions in the late seventies finally turned into an outright strangulation in 1982, and by 1983, the only people still running the missions had been castrated and cowed into submission. None of these missions were now flourishing, and in some of them there was no one at all! But there were still central files and some materials and some public around that could be revived, given enough mouth-to-mouth re-lie-ification.
So, the answer was to turn them into orgs!
Check it out – I am only “pretty damned sure” I have this right. I am willing to be red-faced and find out I got it wrong. (Maybe one of these days I’ll be lucky enough to get my own church-authored website! Mike, tell me – do they charge you for the hosting, or anything? These have got to be driving excellent traffic to this blog…)
Clarification: I am certain of, in my communication above, that this is what happened with several of the “new orgs” of the eighties. What I am not certain of is if ALL the new orgs of the eighties had been missions.
Dan — you are not wrong. I was being charitable. In theory at least, you could clear people with an org and train auditors, so moving from a mission to an org is a “step up” — though as you say, many of those “missions to orgs” turned somewhat viable missions into small and failing orgs (especially in Europe).
Does one expects ANYTHING but BIG lies from El Con’s Scamology? I would be shocked if big truths were to ever come out of this scam.
John, I don’t know if Scamology can accommodate you with “BIG” truths but it does have many LITTLE ones! Well, maybe not so many actually and not so true either, but, uh………….somebody help me out here!
Yeah, you are right, Roger. The little truths, though largely plagiarized from others, tend to make followers trust that the Big Lie must be true. There is some merit to concepts like the ARC triangle, the communication formula, aspects of the emtional Tone Scale, relieving emotional charge from traumatic events (known as abreaction therapy in the real world), some use of the e-meter (even Jung I think toyed with that), the idea of similar experiences forming into chains (that came from Freud), checklists (probably from Navy training), some parts of Study Tech (looking up words and having a visual of the thing – duh), having a twin or partner to study or audit with (a concept of Hebrew school studies for centuries), and so on.
Just enough sugar in the Kool-Aid to keep you wanting more and giving you a hypnotic self-delusional justification for ignoring that faint hint of bitter cyanide in the absurdity of the Big Lie.
But does anyone think that if Hubbard were not dead he would be ashamed to be revealed as a fraud? No. It seems probable he was beyond shame. He used the Big Lie technique to achieve what he wanted: to smash his way into history.
Hi FOTF2012,Thank you for your post. The last paragraph resonated with me greatly.I do feel Ron had an enormous ego with larger than his life notions about himself as this brilliant being who was determined to force himself into the sharp white hot spotlight of his own stage and his own play.He never for one nano second cared about the lives he crushed, the dreams he smashed, the family he tore apart or the families he devestated.Getting & keeping money was fundamental to the entire scam. And calling it a religion was part of his clever use & manipulation of the whole project. When he left the planet he was crazy like a fox.But what he left behind in terms of mind control was and is so powerful for those in & those who got out & are working it out.I mean I was completely hypnotized just by reading Dianetics & even though the cover gave me the creeps.I was of the mind set that if Ron put it there he was right.Jumped right on out to The SO.So your post about him screams the Truth.Ann.
FOTF2012 wrote: “probably from Navy training …”.
It seems that the U.S. Army invented something similar to Dianetics:

Correct Roger. El Con peppered Scamology with many little truths in order to suck people in.
And who would have the audacity to lie about something so big as 100% workable technology for anyone with an intact brain to achieve Clear and OT VIII and become fully at cause over matter, energy, space, time, life, and thought, both objectively and subjectively? (Not to mention Whole Track memories going back trillions of years, greatly increased IQ, freedom from all psychosomatic illnesses, and tons more.)
Too many have fallen for that Big Lie and paid the price, assuming without critical reasoning that no one would have to chutzpah to claim something that big without it being true.
Hip, hip, hooray! Hubbard’s Mein Kampf Big Lie tech worked.
The church of scientology has subsumed the person David Miscavige and sprouted a big flower with David’s chattering face in the middle of it. And when everything it says is reduced to it’s quintessential meaning his words say no other thing but, ‘FEED ME! FEED ME! FEED ME!”
And the scientologists will feed him because they have an appetite for his lies. His lies allow them to hold on to the vision of reality planted in their minds by a great teller of tall tales once upon a time. A vision of reality is a slowly evolving thought-form which defines your self-image. You mustn’t trifle with peoples’ vision of reality or else they can lash out in dangerous ways. A vision of reality based on lies and fanciful thinking is a thought-form that needs constant protection from the truth and a steady diet of lies.
My town is a perfect case study: I live in Santa Rosa, the largest city between Portland and San Francisco, just 60 miles from the latter. The mission here closed quietly and without sorrow sometime in the last couple of years. They say they’ve “moved” to Sonoma and their website is still active, but there is exactly zero presence in our town. No more booths at the farmers markets, no stress tests on the street. Zip. Nada. Nein. The OT8 and OT5 who used to run the Mission still mention Scientology on their Fbook pages, but it’s mostly their gung-ho daughter in-law (Aridonna Walker) who carries the banner now (she did a zealoty turn on our public access station here last year).
I think you can pretty much say the same thing about most medium sized cities in the U.S. That pitiful wheezing you hear is the sound of the shi*t soufflé deflating.
Even if anyone still wanted to claim that CoS is a legitimate religion or self-help organization, whatever, it can’t survive if it can’t attract a new generation of followers. I’m a 60+ baby boomer with great nostalgic fondness for our generation, all that wide-eyed openness to new experiences, scientology fed off that openness and people got sucked in. Young adults now are completely different, technologically dependent, anyone with any curiosity about scientology would do extensive internet research, and they’d never set foot in any mission or org once they found out the truth. No new members=no future.
Very true. Many of us have children who are millenials or generation Z and they have grown up with the Internet, cell phones and social media. Scientology’s secrets are no longer safe. It can also be an ackward and difficult time for the families with KA parents and fully informed kids.
Excellent post, Mike. Boom! Boom! Boom!
This is the way it is you stupid sheeple (or am I being redundant)! You are not in the fastest growing religion on the planet. You are being lied to and it is right before your very eyes. So, correction, you are ALLOWING yourselves to be lied to.
… a bunch of Scaredy Cats.
I KNOW!
🙂 🙂 🙂
(Too funny, Monica Geller.)
You say “ALLOWING yourselves to be lied to.” But these things have proper terminology. You have to get into the spirit of the thing. What they’re doing is being IN AGREEMENT. You have an MU on lied, methinks. Stop speaking Woglish. You must speak Ronglish.
🙂
Yea I have MU’s for sure … And Overts … And MWH’s … And I’m PTS to … ME!!!
Hi Mike,Another excellent post with the facts about the Missions & Orgs stated vividly. It is so amazing that ASHO D & F are no more. You know I don’t miss any of it,but I was there when they were both booming! Ghosts in the wind now.Why doesn’t David Miscavige rename the entire cult ” The Cult of DM “& the slogan would be “Unite here for the Worship of me & money always” Forever Ann.
I like the name Ann! I was at ASHO in 76 and 77 getting some indoctrination which would carry me through a good portion of my life with a faulty belief system. Yes, the classroom was bulging and we were all having fun. Were you there at that time?
Glad to have moved on!
Hi Newcomer,Sure was! ASHO F SO joined 7/16/74,blew in 78.In previous posts wrote that I had only read Dianetics & the SO seemed like a long lost Team for me.Was really IN for well into 3rd year when I became a test thetan for the GOI to wreak havoc with. After months of abuse I somehow saw the light & blew. Finally only months ago realizing the hundreds of letters I thought Ron wrote me on the SO#1 line were not by or signed by him!Once I got rid of that colossal MU,I can recall so much more of my time there.Still have GOI/OSA nightmares big time. But Mike & Christie & all of you wth your wonderful across the web support help me each day. With my cancers fight too partially caused by stuff that happened in the SO.Yes the bulging Orgs were definitely more fun than the empty cold shells today, filled with expensive things but devoid of heart & tons of bodies.Love,Ann.
Scientology – The lies get bigger and bigger…
– Committed to taking your money under the false guise of religion since 1950.
And bragging about it…
Great review of the facts, Mike! You have it spot on. How did Scientology respond in its denunciation of “Going Clear,” Alex Gibney’s powerful documentary on Scientology? By showing off its real estate around the world. Did it address ANY of the real issues of its criminal, immoral and unethical conduct? Of course not … it has license to commit any crime on anyone at any time it chooses. But those buildings? Those great and super beautiful edifices everywhere with ‘Scientology’ emblazoned in 24/7 lights at the top? They will save mankind. Yea! Snap!
Hana!
Snapping!
I love it!
PS. Will the last person leaving their Org please remember to turn off the lights.
If the power company hasn’t already done it.
Heck, it’s not even a viable business. Or scam
Although it is a lot closer to a viable scam than not. We may need to coin the concept ‘Cultscam’ to differentiate it from the more upstat types of scams found around the world!
Cultscam…I like that! Hurry, hurry, hurry! Under the big top, come and see the greatest scam of all time! CULTSCAM! Yes! You too can be part of Cultscam! Just hand over all of your money and do EVERYTHING we tell you to do. No deviations! Just leave your thinking to us…
Indeed it isn’t. John P Capitalist did an excellent piece on this recently – I think on this very blog. Even by and on its own terms, as a business model it is doomed to failure. Also “So, the ONLY way the statement at the top could be true is if scientology is strictly a real estate investment scheme” isn’t quite correct, as any investment scheme would have investors who have an exit strategy, meaning a way of recouping on their initial investment.
Martin — right you are. But the “investor” in this case is corporate scientology and they can recover their real estate investments. Those who hand over their money might as well flush it down the toilet or give it to a casino. It is gone. There is no recovery ever. They cannot treat it as an investment — it is an expense.
To the locals who paid for the new mOrg, it is an expense. To the International Landlord, it is an investment. One that cost the IL nothing and only requires the cracking of the whip to keep it on track for renovation and eventual opening. If it takes 10 years to ‘renovate’, then the locals pay any taxes or bills associated with that process. If after 10 years, the whole thing falls through, then the IL gets to sell the building and pocket the 10 years of real estate appreciation that occurred.
Win, win for the IL. And as always, the locals are then get reged for a new building and the scam starts again. There is no carrot with this stick.
” There is no carrot with this stick.”
It’s called Daveshit on a stick.
Scientology is the BIG LIE.
Buildings are sitting all over the World – Rotting.
Meanwhile, the clubbed seals are regrading themselves to “be right”.
It has been over for a long time for Scientology.
This post was so well done Mike. It really is just “smoke and mirrors” holding the few die-hards in.
Tick Tock Tick Tock
David Miscavige: Your whole entire family are SP’s. Your father wrote a book about you and your crimes. Your neice did too. What does LRH say about that “Slappy”? For Xenu’s sake – use the Tech.
” For Xenu’s sake – use the Tech.” 🙂 LOL
“in all the broad universe, there is no greater hope for man……..” lrh
Uh …………………..well……………….I’m thinking there is (are). In fact there are a lot of them and not one comes from the realm of cult like behavior or belief systems which depend on perpetual Lies …..DAVE!
Yo Mr. Dildo (aka David Miscavige)
Have OSA tell us something that is not a lie ……………… repetitive to EP if you please. Then go to your examiner and tell another whopper good buddy.
Coop, I do believe that Mr. Dildo’s pants are on fire…
Scientology does not allow truth
KoolAid drinkers would not recognize truth if it bit them in the ass, they are incapable of confronting truth
Not sure those who have had “case gain” would agree with the assertion that “Scientology” is the big lie. There are too many instances of subjective benefit for the clubbed seals to do anything but assume that their beneficial experiences are the same as everyone else’s experience. And when I say “experience” I also mean to include the comfort and faith they have in the belief system, in the utterances as written by Hubbard. I think thats why these seals stick around, they have a “package” of beliefs and conclusions which also prevent critical thinking. It really is a prison of belief. Had Hubbard not made it a crime to not buy in, perhaps it might not have even made it this far?
There has always been a segment of people ready to give up their freedom of thought for a fake “certainty” . It is a powerful drug that has been abused by cults through out history.
I don’t remember it verbatim, but:
“Do you want other people to have the same wins as you?”
This after every course completion and probably also any step on the Bridge. It’s like asking if you want other people to be happy. The answer can only be yes (as a social personality, which is the only desirable personality in scn), but each euphoric affirmation also reinforces the certainty that scientology is beneficial for everybody. It serves to equalise the experience in a way.
Even their own email flyers reflect this. You almost never see more than 30 or 40 people pictured at their fundraising events. And those are always major metropolitan areas!
and of those 30-40 people half or more of them are staff.
