The Incestuous World of Scientology Staff

June 10, 2021 By Mike Rinder 48 Comments

The shrinking world of scientology….

These days, about the only hope they have of getting new people to join staff or the Sea Org is if they are the children of scientologist parents.

Rarely are the “successes” about staff from anyone else, unless it is an old person who says they’ve been on staff for 40 years and are still hoping to make it to Clear. We have had a number of people who were not scientologists recruited for “ideal orgs” with the promise of a job, pay and accommodations that have ended up being helped by the Aftermath Foundation. Typically they have not even had the means to be able to get home after their stint as an “ideal” org staff member. Each of them tells a similar story — they promised me this and this and this. Within a week of the Grand Opening it was clear the promises were hollow. The only people they can keep are those who have scientology parents as an added control point, and usually they also provide financial support.

“Staff is good for thetans” is a weird post. I doubt that the vast majority of the people who commented positively or liked the post are on staff. The post should really have said “Staff is good for OTHER thetans.”

This is another version of Lyle Roland.

PS: You probably noticed our old buddy Ryan Prescott made a typically inane comment on the first post. Got some updates coming on him soon. It might even explain why he isn’t on staff…

Now that he’s in the S.O. I’m betting it’ll be a looong time before he ever makes any more “bridge progress.” Young and strong but I doubt he’ll last more than a few years before he wises up and bails.

Medical science has determined that the human brain isn’t fully developed until we are in our mid 20s so just think about how MUCH influence & brain washing can be done to a KID.

Same thing happens in some of the “deep south religions”…you know the TV Show I am referring to where the females are raised to OBEY Without Question the MALE Patriarch Head of Household. Raised with out a true chance at a REAL College Education other then on line Christian Focused FEMALE related “work”….like a Christian School Teacher, Doula, Low level mid wife (no hospital clinical training that would exposed them to bad people such as unwed mothers). Also no birth control, they’re expected to keep pushing out babies to increase/build God’s Army of Christians.

How DOES a kid like this learn there are OTHER things outside the Bubble of COS? Like that certain TV Show…taught to fear & mistrust outsiders who “will do them harm”. MORE LIKE they’d be influenced to LEAVE there present life for something much better where they can make their OWN decisions.

My heart aches for this poor kid……at age 12….he’s already been spoon fed & swallowed what they’ve shoved down his throat. How sad is that

Balletlady, good point. That’s one of the reasons that high control groups and cults recruit mostly younger people, not only are their lives in flux but their brains, and their ability to make sound judgments, are, too.

Thank you PM….I had a friend a long while ago who moved from Upstate NY to deep south Louisiana. She was a fun loving woman. I hadn’t seen her for about two years, but when she came back North to visit WOW, she sure changed.

She got sucked into this Born Again cult where every word out of her mouth was…well, you can imagine. The Bible was always in her hand, tracts pushed on people, Bible quoting……can’t say GDamnit around her……

She’d married a dude who was a member of the Church Board…get herself newly Baptized with complete immersion in a tub built into the floor of the church had to wear a white robe, no makeup of fancy hairstyle since you’re gonna get drowned!!!
They USE to do Baptisms at the RIVER, but it was often too cold & the water moving too swiftly/fast so for reasons of safety they had the church floor torn up & a bathtub installed.

She had a daughter form a previous relationship & THAT poor kid got suckered into this scenario as well. A little religious tyrant….parroting her mother & step father. After that….I didn’t see or hear from her again because “I was not ONE with God”…OK! Thanks! ….she did me a huge favor without knowing it!

Her mother passed away two years ago, no one from the family I’d know 30+ years called me to let me know….I found out recently when I visited my parents’ grave in May of this year & when I bumped into a former neighbor of my parents. They are Presbyterian so still friendly to me!

People come and go in our lives…..that’s just the way it is I guess.

That mere kid is an OT? Must have rich parents. Like you, it made me very sad. I was born into it as well. He’s most likely a “past-life Clear”. I was, too. It’s a convenient shortcut on the Bridge. It’s also sad that he had the money to get up the Bridge, and then Scientology double-dipped by making him a Sea-Org member. Bleed him dry financially, then use him up as a worker.

My niece was seduced by a recruiter when she was 17 . She is now 41 years old. I haven’t seen her in many years . But even when she was on leave , she had nothing to say about anything. Life outside the cult meant nothing to her.
Maybe I’ll see her again one day and i will give her the biggest hug in the history of hugs.

The young girl DSS tried to “rescue” from a FLDS compound…she’d stated that GROWN ASSED men had fondled her, come up in back of her grab a “breast feel”….& “dry humped her”….comments about getting her in bed & “showing her a good time” & “getting her pregnant because they’d have sex with her 3 times a day/night”…

This went on since she was a 14 year old & started to develop. There was talk of marrying her off when she was 15….or there about. DK how she wasn’t already married off by 18 but she was home caring for her ill mother who’d had far more babies then her body could handle, & younger siblings, but the OLD MEN were flocking around trying to “get permission to marry her”.

Promising someone a good paying job and then working them day and night for pennies an hour. Taking away the persons passport upon their arrival and only giving it back when it pleases the organization and when the person signs away their legal rights to redress. Threatening the person covertly and/or overtly during and after they serve the organization. Sounds like????

Vera Dale made a rather intriguing comment about her son, Alexei. She mentions Alexei went to Flag to do his OT levels, and “Needless to say now he is also in the Sea Org.” It suggests Sea Org recruiters got their claws into Alexei the moment he arrived in Florida. Since Alexei is 16, I’m sure the recruiters “convinced” his parents to allow him to join. Dynamics and all that.

The “Needless To Say” part does stand out, doesn’t it? I’m glad you pointed that out.

The Proud Parents might disagree inside, and they are perhaps very proud, and have been promised things that the recruiters knew could not and will not happen predictably. Such as being able to see their own son on any regular schedule. And if the powers that be want him delivering in South Africa, it’s hi-ho silver, flying off in airplanes more advanced but reminiscent of the DC-8’s used in the quadrillion year fiction of the (spit) religion.

People will get recruited while doing services, his project prepare was probably giving his parents a hug and watching them salute him. Then he is off to the EPF, then back and forth to the AO. And then the obligatory big-ass-cert picture, and the smile that has layers of something that overlap over a little boy like the weight of the world.

He referred to the tiny monster as McSavage. I thought that was one of the best names I had seen in a very long time and I really don’t know why, but I thought you would really like that. Anyway, I do believe that from now on, I will refer to him by that name and I just wanted to let you know.

At one time, parents of kids in the
“Cadet Org” at Flag couldn’t even push their own kids, but had to go through the Cadet Org’s ‘ethics’ system, which was worse than useless, since it was just another kid doing the actions, and they didn’t think that highly of parents, who were in another, lesser, org in their minds. Kids don’t have fully developed brains and moral systems.

I wonder if thats some sort of record ? We are used to hearing it takes several years sometimes even decades just to get to clear. How did he finish nearly every course at such a young age. I can see this kid sometime in the future having resentment towards scientoliegy – no proper schooling, not much experience of the outside world, no money – its a perfect storm to future emotional anger. When he finaly opens his eyes and wakes up to realise that his dedication towards creating a new world, one thats free of mental illness and drugs, one where people prosper he will realise that all the years, the long hours, the stress have been a absolute waste of time.

What makes this story even sader is that theirs a strong possibility of him harboring resentment to the most important group of people in ones life – that being his family for encouraging him to go down this useless path.

Xenos, I think slow progress is a problem of lack of money on the part of many members. From what I’ve seen there are a significant number of old timer members who have lived marginally since the 60s or 70s and just never been able to afford more than the occasional course or bit of auditing. Contrast that with those who have money – and get most prominently featured in scientology promo, like this – who can move up relatively fast, if not extremely fast.

I think it’s been calculated that it takes about 150 hours to get to “clear” and costs around $50,000. That’s something a rich kid could do in a summer.

Thanks for your reply. I suppose also for a youngster it would be significantly easier to get to clear as they have hardly anything to clear. Lets take this kid as a example – auditor asks him to recall something distresing, he ums and ars as he has yet to experience any trauma and comes up with “well one day, i was like playing my ps4 and was about to get a high score in Assasins Creed but the power went out – i got like realy angry like”. Compare that to a 40 year old who may have had many upsets eg marriage break ups, work problems, relationship problems, bad business deals/ advice, investment losses etc etc. and you would imagine the older individual would need to set aside a greater amount of hours to go clear.

Your quote of 50,000 to clear is the smallest figure ive heard – im used to hearing estimates 350k to half million. In any case at 150 hours thats only 330 something a hour – its a lot more than that, I believe 600 – 800.

Now that i think of it, are you sure the minimum hours to clear is only 150 hours ? You could do that in 6 months by doing 6 hours auditing weekly (one Saturday).

Xenos, that’s a good time estimate for “clear”; it’s going “OT” that runs into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I thought I’d seen figures of $50k for clear, but maybe it’s $150k at more like $1k per hour – though the 150 hours is definitely in the ballpark. (a steeper $150K cost would also explain why long-term members of lesser means, including staff, may not get even that far on the “bridge” until late in their lives, if at all)

This summarizes a couple of things I found online when I checked again, including accounts by former staff members:

“Costs can vary considerably depending upon the needs of the individual, but a rough estimate suggests you’ll be paying $128,000 to reach Clear, another $33,000 to reach OT III, and an additional $100,000 to $130,000 to reach OT VIII, which is the highest level currently available.”

To say that the staff is good for the thetan would be like saying that the staff – and here we are talking specifically about that of Scn! – is good for Life, or Consciousness.
It wouldn’t make any sense even wanting to.
These guys in scn are desperate that by now the new people and the staff have been reduced to zero (and they know to be well beyond the no return point). So they have focus on the children to do some recruitment to keep their shit somehow together. And in the future, when one of these kids leaves the staff, they won’t even have a proper education.
    Really shabby.
