Cognitive Dissonance

January 5, 2015 By Mike Rinder 86 Comments

Do these people even realize what they are saying? Do they have ANY concept of the orders of magnitude they are dealing with when they keep saying they are "making planetary clearing a reality?" I guess they think this will convince people they need a LOT of money because the number is so big, rather than make them realize they should just give up and come up with some other plan for clearing the planet as this one they are operating on is nothing but pure fail.   They recently started publishing "Clear Numbers" again as you can see in this recent page from the Auditor … [Read more...]

Lying and Fundamentalist Scientology — Sunday Redux

November 16, 2014 By Mike Rinder 96 Comments

This was originally posted on 29 December 2013. It has only gotten worse.... Is the "Church of Scientology" a fundamentalist organization? In my view, it is. And if you read the criteria for fundamentalism above, there is not much doubt that the hard core members of the church fit right in to these 5 points. I was prompted to write this by an interesting post on Marty's blog a little while ago entitled Trained To Lie. I posted a comment in response which I repeat here: Marty — the corollary to this is the fact that these people will do anything to “protect the church” and … [Read more...]

Scientology Slavery

October 12, 2014 By Mike Rinder 129 Comments

A Special Correspondent sent this to me. I felt it worth reprinting. Especially in light of the recent revelations about the new scientology push: "Voice For Humanity." It is an article in the UK Daily Mail about slavery/human trafficking. The Correspondent noted the following, comparing the Sea Org to what is discussed in the article. For instance note the signs of slavery below: FROM KEEPING STRANGE HOURS TO REFUSING TO MAKE EYE CONTACT: SIGNS YOU COULD BE LIVING AMONG VICTIMS OF MODERN SLAVERY Slavery comes in many forms, people who show some of the signs below could be … [Read more...]

Get Off The Scientology Mailing List

September 17, 2014 By Mike Rinder 113 Comments

Imagine having this poor woman's job... But as a public service to readers here who may receive unwanted mail or email from scientology, she is offering her phone number so you can call "between 10 and 11:30 am California Timezone." It might strike you as a little strange for an organization that claims more than 10 million members to assign a single person one and a half hours per day to keeping their lists up to date, but this is apparently how easy it is "applying LRH tech." Xxxxx, I am Greta Molnar from the Church of Scientology International. I am working on a project to update … [Read more...]

Lessons Of History: Jonestown

August 8, 2014 By Mike Rinder 142 Comments

Two Special Correspondents separately sent me information about the Jonestown tragedy in the last few days. And looking over what they sent, it seems there is a point to be made. First, I have long felt that there is no mass suicide in the future of scientology and I haven't changed that view. But I believe there are other fates that are the scientology equivalent of suicide (bankruptcy, destroyed families, despair at ever 'getting up the Bridge') and that the end story of scientology will be when everyone has been reduced to one or all of those states. The sign above Jim Jones' … [Read more...]

Fundamentalist Scientologists Unite

July 15, 2014 By Mike Rinder 46 Comments

So much wrong in such a short announcement. First, "UK's Latest" is pretty badly behind the times. These Basic books and lectures have been around now for 7 years, I don't really understand the logic of promoting someone who is not even FINISHED but is "at the tail end."  Don't have anything else to promote so have to get a "success" out of him before he is done so we can use that. Second, Thomas Fehn is ex-Sea Org. In fact, I believe he was the CO FOLO UK at one point. This is sort of like using a success story from David Mayo on the Running Program... Poor Thomas, still trying to make … [Read more...]

How We Averted WW III

March 13, 2014 By Mike Rinder 115 Comments

Delusion within the fundamentalist church of scientology is the order of the day.  Usually the stories of the astonishing power of scientologists to shape world events is talked about on the "grapevine" or maybe mentioned on Facebook or in personal emails. But here is a communication from the most senior scientology official in Europe, feeding fiction to the sheeple as you must believe it fact.  At least Walter Kotric has an excuse for his horrendous spelling and grammar.  Though if he is going to send messages out in english he should get an english speaker to edit and proofread them before … [Read more...]

Fundamentalist Scientology

March 2, 2014 By Mike Rinder 106 Comments

This is a perfect example of the "dangerous environment" and "us v them" that are the mainstays of Miscavige and his IAS. Every fundamentalist movement must have forces of evil they are waging a holy war against -- and in turn those forces of evil must threaten the good guys' very existence and require the ultimate sacrifice from their loyal minions to defeat the evil that is seeking to consume the world. Are there abuses in the field of psychiatry? Without doubt. (Though these days it is "the psyches", meaning any profession that has "psych" in its name -- psychiatrist, psychotherapist, … [Read more...]

Crazy L. Ron Hubbard's 1980 letter to Pres. Reagan explaining his plan for a national sales tax and abolishing the IRS. It was a key theme of #scientology's war on the IRS... until they got exemption. Do today's proponents know? Full letter in blog post.

@MikeRinder just finished reading your book. I've been anti-scientology for about 30 years. Your book was so informative as to the mindset and the bullying, gaslighting etc. Every through I watched the documentaries and listened to the podcast, I found this book so much (/2)
