“Ron Says”

June 6, 2018 By Mike Rinder 136 Comments

Unfortunately, this is an oft-heard phrase in the scientology bubble. "Ron says..." or "Do what Ron says". It does not matter if what "Ron says" is gibberish or pablum or ridiculous. The fact that HE said it makes it worth repeating and recognizing as an invaluable tool for life. The quote above is a classic example. It is pompous pontification offering no solution -- merely meanderings couched as if it is sage wisdom. They even include spelling mistakes. And they also what is today a very offensive term (but of course they cannot change it, because this is what Ron said). This simple … [Read more...]

Scientology’s “MeToo” Sick Joke

May 19, 2018 By Mike Rinder 68 Comments

Jeffrey Augustine has been doing a wonderful job of documenting scientology's insane efforts to co-opt various women's rights' organizations and prominent figures to try to bring pressure on A&E not to pursue another season of Scientology and the Aftermath. This is Jeffrey's latest blog post: Read the entire post and his earlier coverage for the full picture. I have nothing to add to his comprehensive and detailed dissection of this sham. But I will say this. Taryn was born into the Sea Org. It is all she has ever known. She has been instilled with no other values in her … [Read more...]

“It works every time because it was written by LRH”

December 27, 2017 By Mike Rinder 162 Comments

This is an amazing piece from Jeanie Franks/Bogvad's current husband. It is a distillation of how fundamentalist scientologists view the world and their role in it. First off for every good scientologist, an "LRH quote" must set the stage and prove to everyone how "On-Source" you are. It is proudly proffered, without irony, to demonstrate that one is "with the program" as a true scientologist and thus can think for themselves. This one especially picked to be used to overcome sales barriers. "I don't have any money for that auditing you say I need" is responded to with "You are just … [Read more...]

Gabe Cazares and Hubbard Policy

December 12, 2017 By Mike Rinder 98 Comments

Tony Ortega has a must-read article on his blog this morning. Researcher R. M. Seibert obtained Freedom of Information Act documents from the FBI about the "ops" (the scientology term -- short for operations -- to describe campaigns against enemies) against former Clearwater Mayor Gabe Cazares. The stories about what was done to Cazares are horrifying. But it's also worth noting the underlying POLICY of scientology that resulted in these actions against enemies of scientology. It is often claimed (and I did it myself for many years) that the Guardian's Office were "rogue operatives" … [Read more...]

Shiny Baubles

February 17, 2016 By Mike Rinder 125 Comments

Apparently the higher up the scientology "Bridge to Freedom From Your Money" you progress, the more gullible you are to being led around by the nose ring of shiny trinkets. They dangle these little items in front of the sheeple with as much tact as The Publisher's Clearing House. Here is the latest offering -- directed exclusively at OT VIII's. If you re-do all your bottom of the bridge stuff, you will be awarded a "pin" that announces to one and all "Get Ready for OT IX and X" (just to be a nit-picker, why doesn't it say "I am Ready for OT IX and X"? Because undoubtedly the … [Read more...]

Random Thoughts

February 9, 2016 By Mike Rinder 118 Comments

Just some random thoughts. Super Bowl ads: What a colossal waste of money. IF scientology really had an interest in "humanitarian works" they would not spend a dime buying airtime to pat themselves on the back -- because the money would be needed for their humanitarian works. In fact, these ads serve absolutely no purpose than trying to convince the INTERNAL public that scientology is still alive. The reaction from the general public is revulsion and ridicule. The tone of the ads was pretty strange, and could be summed up as "See, we are not as bad as you think we are." There was not … [Read more...]

The “Plan To Take Down Psychiatry”

February 8, 2016 By Mike Rinder 220 Comments

Ah, the certainty. The arrogance. The absolute conviction that your belief overcomes all facts. This is an example of a scientology fundamentalist (he also happens to make his living collecting donations for his "psychsearch" business in addition to being the "Overt Data Collection" guy for OSA Flag). The "plan to take down psychiatry" is to file complaints against psychiatrists. That assumes the majority of, if not all, psychiatrists are doing something for which a complaint could be filed. And then that those complaints are all found to have grounds and "Hey Presto" the psychs are … [Read more...]

We Own All Knowledge – The Dogma of Scientology

December 19, 2015 By Mike Rinder 276 Comments

This quote from L. Ron Hubbard encapsulates what fundamentalist scientologists believe as an article of faith. They are literally the only people on earth with access to ALL knowledge and without scientology,  every wog is ignorant and blind. This is not really unusual in the world of the fundamentalist - so too go the fundamentalist Southern Baptists. And Jehovah's Witnesses. And Muslims. And on and on. The interesting thing about scientology is that in order not to appear to be what they truly are, they pretend that theirs is a faith of inordinate tolerance, of scientific proof and … [Read more...]

Bob Duggan’s SP Success And Other Grandiose Claims

June 17, 2015 By Mike Rinder 132 Comments

Here are some more outrageous claims about Super Power, including from the mega whale himself. The most outrageous statement is in the third paragraph. And the scientologists wonder why people think they are "anti-doctors" and the church loudly proclaims this to be a lie. Meanwhile they promote this sort of nuttiness Scientologists generally ARE "anti-doctor" (unless they are a wealthy doctor who can donate to the cause...)   SUPER POWER® PERCEPTIC DRILLS SUCCESSES   Level of Consciousness This was an awesome experience! Through the process of communication via my sense … [Read more...]

Another Conversation With A Scientologist

January 14, 2015 By Mike Rinder 76 Comments

Another in the series where an interested "wog" communicates to a staff member of an "ideal" org, inquiring about a service they offer on the internet. These conversations provide some fascinating insight into the bubble world of scientology.... My snarky comments are in red.  ---   Subject: communication classes Date: Fri, 19 Dec 2014 20:25:53 -0600 I got your e-mail from a friend who did this communication course and liked it. Can you tell me more? Xxxx   On 12/20/2014 at 9:31 PM Sure, Xxxx, This is a non-profit organization, and we have classes … [Read more...]

Awesome show today ... as usual. It inspired me to resurrect a site I started in 2008 on #Scientology. It fell into disrepair some time ago but it's coming back. Keep up the good work!

If you haven’t, please follow the amazing journalist @TroMcManus. She does outstanding work! The harassment she gets from #Scientology for just doing her job is absolutely uncalled for. Thank you for your incredible reporting Tracey! https://twitter.com/growingupinscn/status/1637250281216917504
