Why Is Chris Latvala Supporting Scientology and What is a “Safepoint”?

February 25, 2021 By Mike Rinder 32 Comments

Please see the article on Tony Ortega's website yesterday about the crazy Twitter war FL State Congressman Chris Latvala started -- first with Tracey McManus of the Tampa Bay Times, then with Tony Ortega and subsequently with me. I tweeted about this after Tony' story was up, and the Congressman responded to me in a similar fashion:   As you can see my last offer is to meet with him to help provide the education he needs. I hope he takes me up. He said he was unaware of the scientology connections to the books that were offered. Maybe that is the case, but … [Read more...]

Episode 22: Geoff Levin Musician, a Founder of Celebrity Centre

January 4, 2021 By Mike Rinder 23 Comments

Fair Game podcast is back to normal this week after the holiday season schedule, and we welcome Geoff Levin. I will post the link here as soon as its available. Geoff often comments here at the blog, and some of you may know he wrote the theme music we use on the podcast. What you may not know is that he was around for, and played an integral role of the formation of Celebrity Centre. He was a member of the rock band People!.   We talk to Geoff about the destruction of his successful band -- scientology "ethics" caused them to throw out the lead singer for … [Read more...]

The “Glory” of Scientology’s Dead “Enemies”

December 21, 2020 By Mike Rinder 36 Comments

A couple of days ago, Tony Ortega posted a lengthy "success story" from a woman who had recently completed "Super Power." Of course, it was over-the-top bizarre, but one paragraph stood out: While on the rundown two major SPs (2.5 percent) connected to my dynamics received their bitter end. One died in an unexpected way, and the other got put in a psychiatric hospital by his best friend. This filled me with the glory of justice. I doubt there is a more clear-cut example of the callous disregard for human life into which scientologists are inculcated than this. Many former scientologists, … [Read more...]

Recent Podcasts with Jon Atack

December 20, 2020 By Mike Rinder 3 Comments

I have done a couple of podcasts with the wonderfully informed Jon Atack. The second of them went live yesterday and Tony Ortega included it on his site. I am including it here also, as well as the earlier one, as I think the discussions are illuminating. Jon is such a wealth of information. And has such good takes on all things scientology. Leah and I are planning on talking with Jon on our fair Game Podcast soon. That should be a treat. This is the most recent episode of Jon's podcast. I recommend you subscribe to his YouTube channel too:   This is the one we did about 6 … [Read more...]

Leah Remini on Tom Cruise’s Rant

December 16, 2020 By Mike Rinder 54 Comments

Tony Ortega posted something written by Leah to put the recent Tom Cruise rant into context. I think it is important information that should be shared as widely as possible. Perhaps there are some readers who come to this blog but don't visit Ortega's. Here is Tony's posting with Leah's statement in full. Leah Remini sent us this statement about Tom Cruise’s on-set rant that was caught on tape and released by the Sun yesterday… Tom Cruise claimed he does not get so much as a cold because of Scientology. All Scientologists believe that if they aren’t connected to what they label … [Read more...]

“Unemployed Blogger” Dominating Scientology

December 13, 2020 By Mike Rinder 78 Comments

The huge, international scientology organization is at the mercy of an “unemployed blogger.” STAND League flounders as they are pressured to "handle" him. These are the real (if unspoken) headlines for STAND League’s latest attempted smear on Tony Ortega. To be fair, I will give them a point for using a decent photo of him. Not their usual style. But that is the only thing worth noting that is not a terrible lie.   Obviously, Fast Eddie and his minions have gotten some heat from David Miscavige to "get effective" shutting down Tony Ortega. They have failed for more than a … [Read more...]

Blog Problems — Update

December 5, 2020 By CW Guy 9 Comments

As you may have noticed, there have been some issues in the last couple of days with the blog. They may continue for a bit while things are sorted out. Please have patience. Taking the lead from Miscavige, I declare this to be a cyberspace bullbait. Here is what I know. While the number of visits to this site has increased steadily following the Netflix airings of The Aftermath it did not create an issue until a few days ago when things started to ramp up with bots putting a lot of demand on the site, and then seeking to login (none succeeded). This is not uncommon in the … [Read more...]

Heads I Win, Tails You Lose

October 17, 2020 By Mike Rinder 35 Comments

Scientology recently tweeted this attack on Tony Ortega. Not sure why, they didn't write a new article. They just regurgitate the same old stuff. But they felt the need to "Dead Agent" him newly, probably because he has put out all the Black Ops videos... What is interesting about this is that they claim Tony Ortega is not an expert on scientology and thus is unqualified to comment on the subject. A couple of points to note. First, for supposed champions of "free speech," this is very hypocritical. One can only speak if you are an "expert"? Then how does Ed Parkin comment on a journalist … [Read more...]

Episode 12: Mark Bunker

October 12, 2020 By Mike Rinder 41 Comments

This week, Leah and I have a conversation with Mark Bunker on the Fair Game podcast. Download at midnight tonight. I will add a link to the show here when it becomes available. We talk to Mark about his history with scientology, him becoming the newest Clearwater City Council member and what the future of the City of Clearwater holds. We cover the land grab by scientology so ably reported by Tracey McManus in the Tampa Bay Times "How Scientology doubled its downtown Clearwater footprint in 3 years" : Tracey updated her story a few days ago "Vacancies in Scientology-tied … [Read more...]

Episode 10: Attorney Ray Jeffrey

September 28, 2020 By Mike Rinder 79 Comments

We have another real treat this week, Leah and I talk with Ray Jeffrey. I will add the episode here as soon as it is available. As most of you who come here know, Ray was the lawyer who took on representing Debbie Cook and her husband Wayne when they were sued by scientology for allegedly breaching their agreement not to speak out about their experiences in scientology. It was a huge ask as scientology had filed requesting a Temporary Restraining Order on an expedited hearing schedule, and of course they had lined up a small army of lawyers. They were impossible odds. By happenstance, … [Read more...]
