No Justice for Paul Haggis

June 3, 2021 By Mike Rinder 44 Comments

This recent article in Variety makes my blood boil. While scientology has continued to support and protect Danny Masterson, who has been trying to avoid his day of reckoning in court at all costs, Paul Haggis, who they have accused of being a "rapist" has been trying desperately to get INTO court to clear his name. Masterson is being criminally prosecuted, in addition to the civil case filed by his victims. Paul Haggis has never been criminally charged -- or even investigated. Unlike Masterson's victims, Paul's accuser  did NOT go to law enforcement, Paul did. He asked them to … [Read more...]

Scientology Tells Another Big Lie or Two

May 20, 2021 By Mike Rinder 82 Comments

The prosecution of Danny Masterson is becoming a predictable nightmare for David Miscavige and scientology. Forced into making a public statement after damaging testimony in the Preliminary Hearing, scientology resorted to its time-honored tradition and lied. Not just a little lie. A big, bold, easily disproven denial. They rely on the fact that most are uninformed about their actual practices, and that the vast majority of people think when someone makes such an emphatic statement, they could not possibly be lying. Sociopaths use the good nature of the vast majority of people who … [Read more...]

This week's episode of Fair Game podcast features my old friend Alex Gibney. This is not an episode to miss. Alex is one of the greats in the world of documentary filmmakers. His credits include: The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God (won 3 Emmy’s) Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (Oscar nom in 2005 for Best Doc) Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer  Taxi to the Dark Side (winner of the 2007 Oscar for best Documentary) about the war in … [Read more...]

“Justice 4 Mom” Gone Silent After Masterson Charged

July 9, 2020 By Mike Rinder 103 Comments

What has happened to the "Justice 4 Mom" OSA campaign? Not a peep from them since May 11th. When my daughter Taryn, my ex-wife Cathy and their sidekick Sea Org minders from Gold, Maureen Labordique and Chris Maifield showed up at the Denim Day event in LA last year, they were confronted by Danny Masterson victims who called them on their fakery. Tony Ortega wrote an excellent piece at his blog about it, including a video of some of the discussion that occurred. Of course, Taryn and Maureen denied knowing anything about Danny Masterson, but had detailed false information about Paul … [Read more...]

STAND League Rises From The Dead — Not Really

February 10, 2020 By Mike Rinder 75 Comments

Nothing from the STAND League for some time, and then out of the blue they drag out the old "Rapist Apologists" tag line? Why? The upcoming hearing that is going to put this in the spotlight again? Some media contacted them about the allegations? The D/A sent a subpoena? Miscavige asked what they are doing about Remini and Rinder and they had to have something to show him? Who knows, but something happened, so they posted it twice in succession. And couldn't garner a single "like." Because they brought it up -- let me refer you to what we DID in fact say about … [Read more...]

The Inhumanity of Scientology

September 30, 2019 By Mike Rinder 146 Comments

Sadly, too many people pass away without the opportunity to say goodbye to their loved ones. Those who die in tragic accidents or without warning. Others in other cities or countries that make it logistically impossible for a final face-to-face meeting.  Some are estranged for whatever reason and don’t reach out to them, even when they often regret it as they take their final breaths and it has become too late. Then there are those who have had their familial relationships sundered by their beliefs -- that it will be spiritually harmful to associate with “non-believers” or those who have … [Read more...]

Stand Double Standards

September 25, 2019 By Mike Rinder 42 Comments

Not that this is big news... scientology is operating on a blatant double standard. I saw this on the STAAD twitter feed. Now of course, we could do an even better headline -- SCIENTOLOGY SUPPORTS ALLEGED RAPIST DANNY MASTERSON. The difference in the two cases is rather striking. The accuser of Haggis NEVER FILED a police complaint. In fact, the main accuser tried to get money from Paul Haggis to remain silent. HE went to law enforcement to report this. Masteron's victims all went to law enforcement -- and there are 4 of them of have filed police complaints and now after … [Read more...]

The “Mike Rinder Problem”

January 5, 2019 By Mike Rinder 158 Comments

Scientology has come up with a new attack line -- the "Mike Rinder Problem." It is quite an honor to be singled out so specifically, especially as I am according to them merely a "bobblehead" (though a "wife-beating" one so that is apparently a bigger deal). They shifted their attacks from Nancy Dubuc to Paul Buccieri in a deft strategic move. Their clever PR maneuvers are a sight to behold. According to scientology, the "Mike Rinder Problem" is this: "Like the classic wife beater that he is, Rinder digs in his heels and refuses to admit he injured his former wife Cathy during an … [Read more...]

The Scientology “Debunked Conspiracy Theory” Response

January 16, 2018 By Mike Rinder 113 Comments

Scientology sent a statement to the press about our Paul Haggis post. As with everything in scientology's PR denial closet, you have to read it closely and parse its terminology carefully. Scientology mastered the technique of "depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is" long before Bill Clinton came along. Here is the statement in the Hollywood Reporter: In a statement, the Church of Scientology responded to Remini and Rinder's letter. The Church's full response is below: Leah Remini, Paul Haggis and Mike Rinder have predictably thrown up a reprehensible smokescreen to turn … [Read more...]

Concerning Paul Haggis

January 15, 2018 By Mike Rinder 216 Comments

There is plenty of reason to worry about defending anyone accused of sexual assault in today’s climate. But the fear of consequences for speaking our truth has not held us back in the past and isn’t about to start now. We have supported victims of sexual abuse who have reached out to us and have worked with them and law enforcement to ensure justice is done for both victims and the accused. We have avoided trial by media. In this time of heightened awareness of sexual predators, it is easy to remain quiet when an injustice is being perpetrated for fear of being tarred as politically … [Read more...]

L. Ron Hubbard claims his "scientific research" proves he went to heaven. He also opines how #scientology must replace the "false Gods" of #christianity and other religions. It's one of his truly unhinged scribblings that they don't want people to see.

So many people expected that #GhislaineMaxwell would walk free from this trial, but the story told by @BradEdwards_Esq in Relentless Pursuit reveals exactly how she and Epstein worked together. It's a shocking and compelling read. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Relentless-Pursuit-Victims-Jeffrey-Epstein/dp/1471195317/ref=monarch_sidesheet https://twitter.com/BBCWorld/status/1476458297897201667

Watch #TheDeepEnd on Hulu. Fascinating 4 part doc study of cult leader @_tealswan by Jon Kasbe and @BitsSola. Also listen to interview by @sarahjedmondson and @nippyames on @alittlebitculty podcast. Cult leaders are all cut from the same cloth. My take: https://www.mikerindersblog.org/off-the-deep-end/
