My apologies for my recent absence. I explain this in the beginning of the video. I (and the rest of the family) got the flu in the New Year and because of my weakened immune system (and age) it hit me very hard and I ended up back in hospital for a week due to complications. Also at the start of this video is some excellent news that Mark Bunker has been endorsed by the Clearwater Police Department in his run for re-election. We are joined by Claire Headley to discuss the efforts made to suck Jimi Carrey into scientology. It was a strange coincidence that this even came up … [Read more...]
Brothers Broken: A New Film About Scientology Destroying Lives
A couple of days ago, Tony put this message from Geoff Levin on his blog. I am republishing here in the event that any reader here may not have seen it at Tony's. Geoff has been a staunch supporter of this blog and me generally. I am proud to be included in his movie -- I met his brother, Robbie, when I was at Sundance for the premiere of Going Clear. Two talented and extremely nice men who have an incredible horror story to tell. Fortunately, this one has a relatively happy ending, though Geoff's children remain disconnected. This is Geoff's message: It’s been a long jo … [Read more...]
Scientology Lies Responding to 60 Minutes Australia
If by chance you have not seen this piece on 60 Minutes Australia from last Sunday, I commend you to do so... The Australian media pull no punches, and this is one carries on the tradition. In the introduction alone they talk about scientology's "mob-style operations" and how it is "bullying" and "belligerent." On their website (they don't include any of the response in the televised piece), Channel 9 includes the scientology response. Literally a series of blatant lies: Statement from The Church of Scientology "The Church does not prohibit or discourage members from reporting criminal … [Read more...]
What Happened to the Biggest Disseminator in History?
Remember when Tom Cruise was lauded with the Flavor Flav "Freedom Medal of Valor" for being the greatest disseminator in the history of scientology? The video went on and on about how he is relentless and unwavering in his efforts to get the word out about scientology. That he has "brought LRH tech to over 1 billion people on earth, and that's just the beginning..." Remember the stories about how he rounded up all the celebrities in LA and read them the riot act about not being dedicated enough and not doing their bit to expand scientology? Those days are long gone. He … [Read more...]
Neil Gaiman’s Scientology Suicide Story
This interesting piece detailing a tumultuous period of scientology's history was sent to me by Mike Crotty, the creator of the Investigative Youtube series 'Comic's Secret History' Whether you agree with his conclusions concerning why Neil Gaiman's book frames events as it does, he has laid out the history of scientology in the UK in the mid-60's better than I have seen it done anywhere before. It was a convulsive time and led to the formation of the Sea Org when Hubbard left the UK to try his luck in reassuming his role as founder of Rhodesia, and failing at that Neil Gaiman's … [Read more...]
How Scientologists Deal With “Entheta”
"Entheta" is a term in scientology which is a contraction of "enturbulated theta" -- enturbulated means upset and theta means life force. In simple english, entheta is bad news. It is not something that is untrue, just something you don't want to hear. Anything that will cause upset (or in the case of scientology itself, doubt about it). Hubbard says that entheta is the work of "chaos merchants" (suppressive persons), and when the entheta concerns scientology, it is an attempt to "destroy mankind's only hope" and is entirely lies. His "logic" is that scientology is only good, so anyone … [Read more...]
A Billion Years for Christmas and Kirstie Alley’s Death
My thanks to Gallery Books for this ad in the New York Times Book Review this week. A book is an excellent gift for Christmas! Especially A Billion Years... Please keep that in mind as you do your holiday shopping for friends and family. Kirstie Alley The passing of Kirstie was announced late last night by her children. A dedicated scientologist to the end, she did her best to smear me and Leah as all good scientologists do. But despite that, I have fond memories of Kirstie. She has never been anything but over-the-top outrageous and very funny. The only mention I make of … [Read more...]
Stacy Francis Needs Your Help
Apologies to Lili and all of her regular readers: My screw up this morning. Today was supposed to be the final episode of Lili's Adventures in Scientologyland. In scientologese, I was "out of PT." Stay tuned tomorrow for the final chapter of her engaged story. Stacy Francis, one of the scientologists who publicly attacked Leah in response to The Aftermath TV show, is promoting that she is going to be creating "very incredible content" but in order to do so, she needs subscribers to her YouTube channel so she can "use YouTube studios" in Hollywood. Wonder why she has to … [Read more...]
The Miracle of Hubbard Tech
The full story is here. Eddie is a long time scientologist who went Clear in the 90's and the last recorded service is OT Preps in 2015. You can see some of his history detailed in the most recent article on him by Tony Ortega at The Underground Bunker. This sad story begs some obvious questions: Why did the tech fail so miserably in helping Eddie -- someone who is more of a celebrity than a lot of the "celebrities" who are afforded special care and attention at the "Celebrity Centre." Is CCHR doing everything they can to get him out of the hands of the psychs, just like they did with … [Read more...]
Elisabeth Moss: Scientology PR 101
The recent New Yorker article piece by Michael Shulman has resulted in a ton of media pickups, mostly focused on her responses to questions about scientology. There have been a number of takes on this of interest: Martha Ross wrote an excellent piece in the SJ Mercury News Martha quotes journalist Yashar Ali who tweeted: And Tony Ortega added some thoughts from Geoff Levin who was extensively interviewed for the story, but little of it made it into print: Now, let me add some of my thoughts, as it was my job back in the day to … [Read more...]
