It is a watershed day. The single best measure of having hit the mainstream of societal relevance in the US is to be the subject of a skit on SNL. Scientology has truly hit the big time. And not in a good way. Tony Ortega has done a brilliant breakdown and analysis of the skit from last night on his blog this morning. What an Easter Sunday gift this is, no matter your religious beliefs. Except perhaps if you are a scientologist. I have watched it several times and each time I see more subtle digs. There are some people at SNL who know their scientology trivia. A fact that is … [Read more...]
“The Dead Agent Pack Was Compiled From PC Folders”
Someone sent me this email that was circulated after the original Truth Rundown series in the St Petersburg Times in 2009. That series was a massive expose -- the first major media to lay out the story of the physical and mental abuse meted out by David Miscavige, the existence of The Hole and much more. It was carefully researched and meticulously fact checked and documented. It has stood the test of time as much of what is contained in this series has been subsequently reconfirmed, especially in the court testimony of Debbie Cook, but also in numerous other stories. The church … [Read more...]
Scientology Twitterfails
In light of the news that Going Clear is the biggest HBO Documentary since Spike Lee's Katrina doc nearly 10 years ago, and #GoingClear was trending on Twitter for more than 24 hours, it is enlightening to look at the scientology efforts to deal with the shitstorm. Scientology bought Twitter ads -- see this article in Adweek. Of course, this was a massive fail. Sort of like their "advertorial" in The Atlantic earlier. It resulted in even more negative coverage. They are 100% tone deaf to public opinion. And it is really amusing to see the church claiming interest in scientology is … [Read more...]
Cancel Your HBO Service
Next chapter in the footbullet parade. I guess he doesn't realize it, but this will give an accurate count of how many dedicated scientologists there are in the United States. HBO will be able to tally up how many cancellations they receive. If it tops a couple of dozen I would be stunned. These people demonstrate two things about fundamentalist scientologists (which is likely true of all fundamentalists): 1. They have a hugely inflated sense of their self-worth 2. They have tissue-paper thin skin. It is sort of amazing that scientology does not believe they can live in the … [Read more...]
Scientology Media Footbullets On Rapid Fire
The below article was published by Radar Online this morning. It is of note because it is further evidence that scientology is demonstrating to the world that everything in the movie is true. Their hamfisted footbullets are not going unnoticed as they may have done in the past. But it is especially interesting because of the absolutely astonishing arrogance of the responses. Everything they do is further confirmation of their guilt. Who in their right mind, when confronted with an email threatening physical violence would not say "We condemn threats of violence and will assist the … [Read more...]
Is Scientology A “Terrorist Group”?
Scientology has for many years made outrageous claims about "Anonymous" -- calling it a "group of terrorists." They inflate everything that is ever said or done by anyone with even the remotest connection to Anonymous and by association, attempt to paint anyone they think is criticizing them with the "terrorist" brush. There are NUMEROUS examples of this -- perhaps the earliest was Keith Henson who joked about shooting a "Tom Cru9ise Missile" in Miscavige's window. This was then used to have him prosecuted under the Hate Crimes statute. Miscavige complained bitterly about "death threats" … [Read more...]
Flag Is Limp
Jeff Mintz is not as regular as he once was, and for a while I thought he had been given the permanent heave-ho. It's a terrible thing when "good news" turns up on this blog as proof of stagnation. Then, after a month of silence, the FSC San Jose stole his thunder and put out the Mintzmeat(tm) report from herself. She even stole his format, but changed it from blue to red (Mintz had changed "Good News" to "Late Breaking News" probably because of how much fun we had with his "good news" but Ms. Dodwell seems oblivious for now). As always, I have added the latest figures to the end of the … [Read more...]
Scientology Lies and Going Clear
Scientology has launched their usual ad hominem attacks on Alex Gibney and Going Clear. Every person interviewed or associated with the film is subject to the scientology smear campaign. Even now including attempting to "dead agent" Alex Gibney by claiming his deceased father was some sort of "CIA Propagandist" and thus "the apple didn't fall far from the tree." This sort of insanity makes them the object of universal derision. A couple of days ago they fired what they thought was another in the apparently unending stream of shots across HBO's bow. Like those that have pr … [Read more...]
Scientology Plays The Religious Persecution Card
In the face of the enormous interest and critical acclaim for Alex Gibney's Going Clear documentary, Scientology is in panic mode. So, they do what they have always done in times of disaster: fall back on trying to gain sympathy by claiming to be the object of bigotry and religious persecution. In typical arrogant Miscavige style, he refused to cooperate in making the film, not agreeing to an interview and making sure nobody else under his spell did either. It was a strategy he has used plenty of times in the past. And once the reporting is done, the whining begins: "they only looked at … [Read more...]
Scientology: Self Pleasuring
More hilarity from the Razzerloonies... From: Sent: Saturday, February 07, 2015 To: Subject: FW: THETA NEWS! Thanks so much for forwarding this! I just received this from the IASA! Cool news on the IAS funded Scientology dissemination campaign! 1 minute after the "Age of Answers" Scientology ad aired during the Superbowl half-time, the scientology.org website visits went from an average of 80 to 1,800!!! And after the ad aired on Superbowl, there was a TON of buzz and feedback on social media. Here are some of the responses: "It wouldn't be Superbowl without a Sc … [Read more...]
