OK, here are some tidbits of interest from the Valley OTC meeting, focusing on the KCET Studios, combined with some information that has come in from several Special Correspondents. This facility has now assumed a new acronym -- SMP (Scientology Media Productions). It has fairly recently been integrated into the Int Liaison Office (a strange move when there has been NO CO ILO on post for some years, it is reported to be "held" by the CO CMO IXU). Scientology’s View On Psychiatry
As I listened to Sylvia Stanard respond to a question about the scientology view of psychiatry at the Chauquatua conference (see at 1:19;45), I could not help but be amazed a the "spin" she sought to put on this. She claims that the church is only opposed to the "mind altering drugs, ECT and abuses in the field of mental health." An "acceptable truth" -- along with so many others she delivered that day -- but you have to wonder why when addressing a sophisticated audience of "thinkers and seekers" she didn't tell them the real truth? Pervasive “Black PR” On Scientology
A recent email from one of the people that delivers seminars in orgs and is touted as one of the "great disseminators" of our time. It provides some interesting insight into the general public's view of scientology and how things are going from bad to really bad. Of course, the church cannot directly endorse any political candidates as this would be a violation of their exempt status (possibly the least egregious one they would be guilty of, but nevertheless very visible and thus difficult to deny). How Scientology Deals With Child Molesters
I often put up postings that are tongue in cheek and poke fun at Miscavige and his Merry Band of Minions. This however is NOT one of those. It highlights a systemic problem in Scientology, in some ways similar to the Catholic Church. The comparison is both apt (as the interest is in society's right to protect children and the well being of the children themselves) and somewhat strained (because child molesting is not generally widespread in scientology organizations and certainly not among its "priesthood").
