What Happened to the IAS Event?

October 22, 2022 By Mike Rinder 26 Comments

The annual IAS event has come and gone once again without an actual "Int Event." The reason for no events for the past few years was supposedly COVID related. But that is no longer an issue, the world has basically returned to normal. Yet no event. This is the BIG event each year for money-making at the event itself and lining up future revenue with re-showings of the events and videos and "medal-winners." There have been no IAS Freedom Medal winners for 3 years now. The only explanation for this is that the COB is scared to appear anywhere in public for fear that he will be … [Read more...]

CCHR “Taking Down Psychiatry”

June 28, 2020 By Mike Rinder 21 Comments

This is the sort of thing that is announced with enormous fanfare by the IAS with "this is what your donations buy". When something like this is found, CCHR jumps on it and claims it as a "psych prosecution" and not only that, it is "President of the Alaska Psychiatric Association." It will be added to other incidents they can scrounge up from anywhere they can find them and become part of a typical announcement in the category of "CCHR Wins" -- “this year more psychs were prosecuted than ever, a total of 1,047, thanks to the leadership of CCHR" and then at the end "You contributions to the … [Read more...]

There’s “Good News” in LA and Another 10,000?

April 25, 2020 By Mike Rinder 47 Comments

Well, it's always good to know that there IS good news. You can just imagine it: "Thanks to your support of the IAS [$10 million collected in the last month] we have provided disinfectant to 3 teams [and one video crew to film them before they were asked to leave] who have been bringing order in the chaos in Burkina Faso [not a peep from Pasadena or N. Hollywood]" This is how we "can be at cause over our 4th Dynamic"... They are so delusional. And more good news, apparently LA Org has decided they can get 10,000 onto extension courses. Flag has been trying to get 10,000 onto or … [Read more...]

The IAS COVID-19 Pitch

April 14, 2020 By Mike Rinder 64 Comments

I was waiting for the latest IAS chapter of disaster capitalism, and once again they have not disappointed. You can always count on the IAS Regges to use a disaster to try to cash in. Here is IAS Hall of Famer Freddy Hunkeler doing what IAS Regges do best: Highlighting how terrible things are and that if you just hand over your cash to the IAS you will be "making a difference." Actually the ONLY thing you will accomplish is to increase Freddy's stats. Absolutely nothing else. The IAS is doing nothing to "help bring sanity and calm to our environment.” The extent I& their accomplishments … [Read more...]

The IAS — The Black Heart of the Scientology Vulture Culture first published May 13, 2013

March 9, 2020 By Mike Rinder 13 Comments

See my announcement on Friday -- I am revisiting earlier posts during my vacation. Each day there will be a different one. This is some interesting history and background on the IAS.   The history of the International Association of Scientologists is worth knowing. Its initial value (in 1984) as a repository of funds outside the reach of the IRS in 1984 may be debated.  It seemed like a good way of protecting money. The IAS had nothing to do with the “Portland Crusade” though David Miscavige has made it part of his history now. (As a note, the "winning tradition" born in … [Read more...]

The IAS Taking it to a Whole New Level of Crazy

February 22, 2020 By Mike Rinder 80 Comments

The IAS has come up with a new fundraising scheme. You have heard of gold, platinum and black credit cards.... Well, the IAS has invented a new level of “status.”  The blue, gold platinum and black anti-credit card for the discerning connoisseur of the finest in rip-offs. You can now proudly display to your clubbed seal friends that you have committed to paying a certain amount each month.... Just whip out the black IAS card and impress your neighbors. When you cannot wear your gaudy gemstone encrusted pin or show off your bowling ball trophies in the display case just inside your … [Read more...]

The IAS is doing EVERYTHING

January 25, 2020 By Mike Rinder 37 Comments

The IAS is truly the biggest scam in scientology. And that is saying something. Just look what they say here: "At new orders of magnitude, we are tackling ANY planetary ruin ANYWHERE, from the edge of the world to your neighborhood." This is such astonishing bullshit it even surprises me. They also claim that the they are the ONLY solution to war, criminality and immorality. And "WE ARE CHANGING THE WORLD"... And they are serious! And how odd is it that the person doing this pitch is Ruddy Rodriguez, IAS Freedom Medal Winner from VENEZUELA! Hey Ruddy, how … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

December 5, 2019 By Mike Rinder 78 Comments

It's an Extravaganza  And it's being done by Quentin Strub no less. He was the CO WISE EUS back in the 1980's and has risen no further. What an extravaganza of leadership and success he is.   Freetown perhaps? Seems they have trouble with spelling and grammar everywhere...   Free Admission But if you show your military ID you get free tickets for each child?   A "professional" Life Improvement Counselor You have to wonder how you make a profession out of delivering free seminars?     A major purpose of getting children … [Read more...]

Rev. Alfraudie Johnson

December 3, 2019 By Mike Rinder 43 Comments

Recent posts on Tony Ortega's site include some excellent first-hand reporting from Jeffrey Augustine on the ground in criminal court in Los Angeles. Hana Islam and her son Rizza are in deep hot water.  They have allegedly been engaged in a massive fraudulent scheme, bilking the government out of millions at the World Literacy Crusade. The always dapper Rev. Alfreddie Johnson is the founder and big cheese of the WLC. He was married to Hanan and claims credit for raising Rizza as his "son." Somehow, like a Teflon Don, he has managed to escape indictment. I have written about him … [Read more...]

Our 10th Anniversary

November 5, 2019 By Mike Rinder 67 Comments

The first blog post on mikerindersblog.org was on 5 November 2009. It's been 10 years but it sure doesn't seem that long! It's been a lot of fun along the way. I have met many wonderful people here (and quite a number subsequently IRL which has been especially gratifying).  Hopefully I have opened a window to discovering the truth about scientology for many. This blog would not have been possible without the support of many who have helped. While it is a labor of love (or perhaps passion) it IS labor and first my thanks to the many contributors who have provided content and … [Read more...]

How Many Taxpayer-subsidized Mansions, Homes and Offices Does a Dead Man Need? It turns out to be a LOT when it comes to #scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Once again, where is the #IRS? How is this a valid exempt purpose? https://youtu.be/JfmJHiGfevA via @YouTube
