It’s a Long Road to Eternity

August 28, 2021 By Mike Rinder 41 Comments

OMG, does this put the study of scientology in perspective. Hubbard rambled on and on in books and lectures to such an extent that if you just complete one chapter of the books and lectures each week it will take 29 YEARS. And this does not factor in the 17 Tech Volumes and 11 OEC Volumes which contain about 5 times more words than all the basic books combined. It also doesn't include the LRH EDs, which are a couple more volumes about the size of an OEC or Tech volume. Now, according to Hubbard, everyone should study all of this in order to attain full spiritual freedom and secure … [Read more...]

Tampa “Ideal” Org and Ron’s Fiction

May 7, 2020 By Mike Rinder 42 Comments

These are the last two Tampa "ideal" "St Hill Size" "newsletters" that are sorely lacking in news. You can compare this one immediately below to the previous one that follows. They’ve only got some extension course "successes" to report, but they're promoting a different video about how viruses spread... It's pretty harmless, giving rudimentary information about bacteria and viruses, though it's oddly "scientologese" with constant reference to "the body.” What it doesn't do is explain what scientologist actually believe about illness -- that it all comes from connection to Suppressive … [Read more...]

EUS Has Some Large Holes

May 5, 2020 By Mike Rinder 61 Comments

EUS put out a promo piece to promote the amazing "success" they are having with Extension Courses. They rounded up "winners" from all their orgs. I guess these people managed to complete a chapter in a book in a week (one chapter is one "extension course"). But what's missing?   NOBODY from the biggest ideal org ever -- Tampa. Nobody from the newest ideal org -- Columbus. Nobody from the ideal orgs in Orlando. And nobody from the almost not there any more orgs in Battle Creek, Philly, Chicago and Boston. With all scientology activity reduced to Extension … [Read more...]

There’s “Good News” in LA and Another 10,000?

April 25, 2020 By Mike Rinder 47 Comments

Well, it's always good to know that there IS good news. You can just imagine it: "Thanks to your support of the IAS [$10 million collected in the last month] we have provided disinfectant to 3 teams [and one video crew to film them before they were asked to leave] who have been bringing order in the chaos in Burkina Faso [not a peep from Pasadena or N. Hollywood]" This is how we "can be at cause over our 4th Dynamic"... They are so delusional. And more good news, apparently LA Org has decided they can get 10,000 onto extension courses. Flag has been trying to get 10,000 onto or … [Read more...]

Scientology’s Pandemic Pitch

March 31, 2020 By Mike Rinder 75 Comments

I was forwarded this email from the EDs of Salt Lake City "ideal" org. I reprint it here with spelling errors/typos exactly as it was received. Another confirmation that this org is closed (public are not receiving services physically inside the org) -- but they then go on in typical scientology style to say the answer to the question "Wait, does that mean the Org is closed?" is "Absolutely not, in fact, the org is more open than ever."  Only in the deluded world of scientology would a shuttered org be more open than ever... But "more open than ever" translates into more desperate for … [Read more...]

Watch #TheDeepEnd on Hulu. Fascinating 4 part doc study of cult leader @_tealswan by Jon Kasbe and @BitsSola. Also listen to interview by @sarahjedmondson and @nippyames on @alittlebitculty podcast. Cult leaders are all cut from the same cloth. My take: https://www.mikerindersblog.org/off-the-deep-end/

Because everyone is currently in love with Tom cruise again due to maverick and have conveniently forgotten he’s a weird little carnival barker for a dangerous cult, here’s your reminder to check out #ScientologyTheAftermath on Netflix!
